I think with her videos absolutely. That's why I miss the music video effort so much. It all added to her mystery and ghostlyness,  like happily being killed in relation to her significant other 

 

In her older songs  I think it has something to do with that fear of death that she always talked about,  and herself trying to overcome it by making it sound like it was nothing but exciting.
