Have you noticed how Bartender, which is the only song on the album produced solely by Rick, has the WORST sounding vocals on the album? The man and his crew clearly cannot produce her vocals that well and they ended up sounding like what they do on most LFL songs (glitchy)

That's weird, because Honeymoon has some of her best sounding vocals.

I don't disagree but you gotta take into account that Honeymoon vocals were heavily edited (EQ'd, reverbed etc.) so you couldn't really tell. However in LFL where vocals are clearer you can tell (especially in songs like Change, BPBP, Heroin etc.). In Bartender you can also hear her mouth noises which is also kind of throwing me off. :toofunny:

Doin' Time is A-list on both BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 2. A cross-generational radio smash!

You can hear her mouth noises in Hope too. You can even hear her breaths in Hope. I like it, it low-key turns me on

HTD, on vinyl, sounds better. The production isn't perfect, as we all know, but the jingle bells and beats are a bit more discreet.

As much as I love Hey Blue Baby, wouldn't it be repetitive if she included it on White Hot Forever?!?! Another Jack-produced track where she says the guys is making her blue!?!?!

My honeymoon with Norman ended last evening

when I started to listen to Tori Amos and Alanis Morissette albums

after a week of non-stop listening to it I can not say it is her best. I like it as it has a mood like Honeymoon album and is great for relaxing and falling asleep...

No stand outs for me and no personal favorites - unless I count Doin' time which I played so so much before the album

all in all... yeah... the hype is gone... she has started to behave strange... so that is it

Feeling in a similar way about it. Even worse. Last night a friend of mine and me were wondering about how the hell the album has gotten the HUGE acclaim that the media are giving it. It's not a bad album, but it has a lot of obvious flaws, a composition and songwriting thats quite weak in many of its songs (can't understand how Pitchfork has said that she's "the best next american songwriter", really can't, even if I love her work as I do), a production that has evident and almost begginer kind of failures... Maybe I'll feel different about it in some years, but now I'll save the highlights it has -mostly the first half of the album, and then Bartender and Happiness, from my perspective - and go to listen other things. I don't get the point on keeping the hype, and yes, she's behaving in a very weird way (not necessarily in a good one), and mostly on the artistic side, which is the only one I care about when it comes to her music.

Does anyone have a HQ photo of Lana and the muscle guy from the FIILY video? I've seen it posted before, but cant remember where. I THINK it was also used on one of the postcards

@sjatib
yes as I said somewhere
I dont get the praise for her songwriting either

5% is great
60% is as any songwriter
35% is really whatever

I have to admit that her rather questionable views on politics and her out of the blue attack on that reviewer influence a bit my negative view of her... forgetting the church she goes to

Replace Doin Time and TNBAR with The Blackest Day and Heroin and it's perfect.
Especially this order: The Blackest Day - Heroin - California!
