Choose a Lyric to Define Each Era

Recommended Posts

Born To Die:

“Every time I close my eyes, it’s like a dark paradise, no one compares to you, I’m scared that you won’t be waiting on the other side”

Paradise:

“My pussy tastes like pepsi cola”

Ultraviolence:

“Maybe on the flipside you could catch me again”

Honeymoon:

“Baby if you wanna leave, come to California be a freak like me too”

Lust For Life:

“My cherries & wine, rosemary & thyme, all of my peaches are ruined”

Norman Fucking Rockwell!:

“Out back in the garden, we get high now, because we’re older. Me myself, I like diamonds, my baby crimson & clover”

Why do you think that line defines LFL?

Born To Die

Gold and silver-lined my heart
But burned into my brain are these stolen images

Paradise

I don't really wanna know what's good for me
God's dead, I said, "Baby, that's alright with me"

Ultraviolence

Don't say you need me when
You leave and you leave again
I'm stronger than all my men
Except for you

Honeymoon

I've got nothing much to live for
Ever since I found my fame

Lust for Life

There's a change gonna come, I don't know where or when
But whenever it does, we'll be here for it

Norman fucking Rockwell

I watch the skies getting light as I write

As I think about those years
As I whisper in your ear

I'm always going to be right here

No one's going anywhere

Why do you think that line defines LFL?

I feel like a lot of the songs are about ruined relationships. G Eazy, etc. TNC, BPBP, White Mustang could all be defined by “my peaches are ruined” and then the flipped reverse, “and all of my beaches are ruined” going along with 13 Beaches

if i fuck this model and she just bleached her asshole and i get bleach on my t-shirt, imma feel like an asshole

Born To Die

“Feet don’t fail me now, take me to the finish line.

Oh my heart it breaks every step that I take, but I’m hoping at the gates, they’ll tell me that you’re mine.”

Paradise

“Elvis is my daddy, Marilyn’s my mother, jesus is my bestest friend.”

Ultraviolence

“Because you’re young, you’re wild, you’re free, you’re dancing circles around me. You’re fucking crazy.”

Honeymoon

“Catch me if you can, working on my tan, Salvatore. Dying by the hand of a foreign man, happily.”

Lust For Life

“This is my commitment, my modern manifesto. I’m doing it for all of us, who never got the chance. For Amy and for Whitney, and all my birds of paradise, who never got to fly at night, cus they were caught up in the dance.”

Norman Fucking Rockwell

“Catch a wave and take in the sweetness, are you ready for it?”

Born To Die:

Not even they can stop me now
Boy, I'll be flying overhead
Their heavy words can't bring me down
Boy I've been raised from the dead

Paradise:

I fall asleep with an American flag

I wear my diamonds on skid row
I pledge allegiance to my dad
For teaching me everything he knows

Ultraviolence:

Well, my boyfriend's in the band

He plays guitar while I sing Lou Reed
I've got feathers in my hair
I get down to Beat poetry

Honeymoon:

Marry me, marry me
Take a long vacation
Money and power and dresses
Big standing ovation

Lust For Life:

Look at you kids with your vintage music
Comin' through satellites while cruisin'
You're part of the past, but now you're the future
Signals crossing can get confusing

Norman Fucking Rockwell:

Catch a wave and take in the sweetness

Defining Lyrics For Each Era

AKA

~Raise Me Up~

It's the voodoo, mississippi south

69 million stars

Birds are flying out of my mouth

Spirits creeping in my yard

Hold my head, it's tilting back

Something dancing me around

Putting crystals on my neck

Lifting my feet off the ground

BORN TO DIE

~Carmen~

The boys, the girls, they all like Carmen

She gives them butterflies, bats her cartoon eyes

She laughs like God, her mind's like a diamond

Audio tune lies, she's still shining

Like lightning, ohh, white lightning

PARADISE

~Bel Air~

Don't be afraid of me, don't be ashamed.

Walk in the way of my soft resurrection

Idol of roses, iconic soul. I know your name.

Lead me to war with your brilliant direction.

ULTRAVIOLENCE

~Brooklyn Baby~

I'm talking about my generation

Talking about that newer nation

And if you don't like it

You can beat it

Beat it, baby

You never liked the way I said it

If you don't get it, then forget it

So I don't have to fucking explain it

HONEYMOON

~The Blackest Day~

You should've known better

Than to have, to let her

Get you under her spell of the weather

I got you where I want you

You're deader than ever

And falling for forever

I'm playing head games with you

Got you where I want you

I got you, I got you

I got you where I want you now

LUST FOR LIFE

~Heroin~

It's fucking hot, hot

Winter in the city

Something 'bout this weather made these kids go crazy

It's hot, even for February

Something 'bout this sun has made these kids get scary

Oh, writing in blood on my walls and shit

Like Oh, oh my god

Dripping off from the walls into the ducts and shit

Oh, ho ho ho, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't sick of it

NORMAN FUCKING ROCKWELL

~The Next Best American Record~

It's you, all the roads lead to you

Everything I want and do, all the things that I say

It's true, all the roads lead to you

Like the 405 I drive through

Every night and every day

I see you for who you really are

Why the thousands of girls love

The way Bill plays guitar

Reasoning for Selection of Lyric for Each Era

AKA

In ~Raise Me Up~ Lizzy Grant has just begun to realize the enormity of embodying the essence of Lana Del Ray (her Higher Self) and how her life is never going to be the same. *Ray* is going to raise her up to the highest level spiritually and by doing so she will be able to access all the melodies floating in the ether and bring them down to earth to serenade us all with.

BORN TO DIE

In ~Carmen~ Lizzy Grant has completely embraced Lana Del Rey and turned into an Immortal Legend. Anyone who comes across her gets mesmerized and becomes unable to accept the fact that a Goddess now lives among them. Lana Del Rey has an Aura that shines like White Lightning that blinds and dazzles everyone.

PARADISE

In ~Bel Air~ Lana Del Rey doesn't want her fans to be overwhelmed and intimidated of the Goddess she has become. She can still come off the stage and get to know her fans by name. In other words she is capable of establishing a personal relationship with her fans through her music and guide us all through difficult times. She's calling us all *Iconic Souls* for recognizing the beauty of her ethereal soul and asking us to lead her through this Earthly Realm.

ULTRAVIOLENCE

In ~Brooklyn Baby~ Lana Del Rey has now become the voice of a generation and has followers all around the world who completely embrace the Ethereal Soundscape that she has created through her Poetry and Melodies. She also calls out her critics who always find a way to diminish her contribution to the world of music. She commands them to leave her alone and that she doesn't have to justify her choices in life to them.

HONEYMOON

In ~The Blackest Day~ even her harshest critics have now begun to embrace the idea of Lana Del Rey and are completely Mesmerized, Hypnotized and Enchanted by the haunting depths of the musical landscape that she has created and are falling down the rabbit hole of the vast amount of music she has recorded ( Released, Unreleased and Demos). Now the whole world has recognized the Goddess that lives among us.

LUST FOR LIFE

In ~Heroin~ some of her fans have become so Enchanted by her music that they are acting crazy, stalking her and breaking into her house and invading her privacy. There is mass hysteria among her fans who have fallen so completely under her spell that her music has become like a Drug ie Heroin to them.

NORMAN FUCKING ROCKWELL

~The Next Best American Record~ is about the unconventional path that she has chosen in life to serenade the world with her mellifluous voice. Her career has come full circle from when she sang "It's you, it's you, it's all for you...Everything I do" in ~Video Games~ to "It's you, all the roads lead to you...Everything I want and do, all the things that I say" in ~TNBAR~. The *You* in both songs refers to her fans. Whatever choices in life she makes are for the fans. She sees us all for who we really are and continues to share her gift of music selflessly and generously.

A.K.A -

The headlights from passing cars

They illuminate my face then leave me the dark

The voice of Nirvana says, "Come as you are"

And I will

The night time is almost ours

BTD -

Think I'll miss you forever

Like the stars miss the sun in the morning sky

PD -

In the land of gods and monsters

I was an angel, lookin' to get fucked hard

Like a groupie incognito posing as a real singer

Life imitates art

UV -

Don't say you need me when

You're leaving, you leave again

I'm stronger than all my men

Except for you

Don't say you need me then

You live last, you're leaving

I can't do it, I can't do it

But you do it best

HM -

Flames so hot that they turn blue

Palms reflecting in your eyes, like an endless summer

That's the way I feel for you

If time stood still I'd take this moment

Make it last forever

L4L -

But I still get lonely

And baby only then

Do I let myself recline?

Can I let go?

And let your memory dance

In the ballroom of my mind

Across the county line

NFR -

So I moved to California, but it's just a state of mind

It turns out everywhere you go, you take yourself, that's not a lie

Wish that you would hold me or just say that you were mine

It's killing me slowly

Like a fucking dream I'm living in

And as the years go by the other woman

Will spend her life alone

Why work so hard when you could just be free?

From the ordinary world

To the reveal of my heart

Hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have

But I have it- it

I will love you till the end of time

I would wait a million years

Singing blues has been getting old

You are unfixable

I can’t break through your world

I’ve had nothing much to live for ever since I found my fame

I never really noticed that I had to decide

To play someone’s game or live my own life

But now I do

I guess I’m burned out after all
