You ever hear the one about the cop, the songbird, the psycho and the mafia princess? Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is a twisted tale told by Harley Quinn herself, as only Harley can tell it. When Gotham’s most nefariously narcissistic villain, Roman Sionis aka Black Mask, and his zealous right-hand, Victor Zsasz, put a target on a young girl named Cassandra Cain, the city is turned upside down looking for her. Harley, Huntress, Black Canary and Renee Montoya’s paths collide, and the unlikely foursome have no choice but to team up to take Roman down.

In the Warner Bros. Pictures film, Margot Robbie (I, Tonya) returns as Harley Quinn, alongside Mary Elizabeth Winstead (10 Cloverfield Lane, Fargo) as Huntress; Jurnee Smollett-Bell (True Blood) as Black Canary; Rosie Perez (Fearless, Pitch Perfect 2) as Renee Montoya; Chris Messina (Argo, Sharp Objects) as Victor Zsasz; and Ewan McGregor (Stephen King’s Doctor Sleep, the Trainspotting films) as Roman Sionis. Newcomer Ella Jay Basco also stars as Cassandra “Cass” Cain in her feature film debut.

Directed by Cathy Yan (Dead Pigs) from a script by Christina Hodson (Bumblebee), the film is based on characters from DC. Robbie also produced, alongside Bryan Unkeless and Sue Kroll. The film’s executive producers are Walter Hamada, Galen Vaisman, Geoff Johns, Hans Ritter and David Ayer (Suicide Squad). Joining Yan behind the scenes was a creative team comprised of director of photography Matthew Libatique (A Star Is Born, Venom); production designer K.K. Barrett (Her); editor Jay Cassidy (American Hustle, Silver Linings Playbook) and editor Evan Schiff (John Wick Chapters 2 & 3); and costume designer Erin Benach (A Star Is Born). The music is by Daniel Pemberton (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse).

What are your thoughts on the film? Are you planning to see it?
Personally this is one of my most anticipated films over the last few years, Margot's portrayal of Harley in Suicide Squad was on point and definitely the highlight of the film. I immediately fell in love with her version of the character and have been looking forward to seeing her on the big screen ever since. I would've loved a Gotham City Sirens flick because Poison Ivy was my first favorite DC character as a kid and she deserves another chance (as she was last played by Uma Thurman in the 90s), not to mention being accompanied by Margot's Harley. We know a GCS film was/is in the works with David Ayer set to direct, but as for the time being it has apparently been put on hold. Margot recently expressed that she's been trying to get Poison Ivy to join the DCEU for years because of their fascinating relationship, whether romantic or not. So there is hope  :flutter:

Preparing for Suicide Squad, Margot researched the comics and bumped into both Gotham City Sirens and Birds of Prey. She first pitched the film to Warner Bros. in 2015 as "an R-rated girl gang film including Harley, because I was like, 'Harley needs friends.' Harley loves interacting with people, so don't ever make her do a standalone film". She also wanted to introduce less familiar characters to the general public. Not getting a GCS film first, I was a bit disappointed until details of the film started surfacing and the second teaser and first trailer had me excited af. Joker might have been the first big R-rated live-action but Birds of Prey is pushing boundaries as well - introducing us to LGBT characters for the first time with Renee Montoya being gay, Roman and Victor having an interesting dynamic as well (I mean come on, the rumours of them being gay started circulating like last spring) and with Harley confirmed to be bisexual.
Without turning this into an essay, summa summarum the film just looks like it's a lot of colorful, violent fun with some bops (pun intended) and I'm all in - I can't wait to see it on Friday and start using my cinema employee benefits to see it at least a handful of times. I already have some merch like Harley Funkos but unfortunately my hoodie won't make it to the premiere as it won't be dispatched until Friday  :defeated:

I don't know if any of y'all play Fortnite, I first got into it last August and nowadays me, my bf and her sis are hooked so obviously I've been hoping for a Harley skin ever since they had the Fortnite x Batman crossover last year. I almost lost hope but both Epicand WB hinted at a crossover a couple of weeks ago so a two-week crossover event with Harley becoming a skin available for purchase is expected to launch on Thursday or Friday. Take my moneyyy  :defeated:

Would be better if it was "Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Auto-tuned Loon)". Hyped for Black Canary tho.

A bad sample, repeated often with unwarranted glee.

Wasn't Lana supposed to do a track for this film? I guess that was just a rumour though

Yeah rumoured to be called Sirens which would have been weird for this particular movie since this isn't Gotham City Sirens.

I got my BOP hoodie today and we're finally going to see the film tomorrow morning :defeated:

Some film reviews rate this film a 4 out of 10, but I don´t care. I will go see it ! m0122.gif

It looks like a fun film for the entire family (or a disfunctional family)  AND it even has cute Hyenas in it!

Most of the bad reviews are just from angry mysgonists who are angry it's a female written film with a mainly female cast, which they say is "sexist to men" lmao
