I mean, a lot of people contributed covers, but Lana actually wrote songs and had an important enough role to have the lead single. I mean it's probably whoever markets the movie or the musical director. And they went with Lana to hype the soundtrack. Jay-Z was the musical director, both he and his wife contributed, there's a Fergie comeback, even Gotye had a hit, and they chose Lana. Idk I just think she had more of a role in the soundtrack than most of the people who recorded covers. Of course covers can be better.
