Welcome to the official thread for #PopIndustry. #PopIndustry is a game created by Diego Rivas, currently hosted by myself across GagaDaily, Flop Of The Pops and LanaBoards.

 

 

The doors of stardom have been thrown open for you, and the chance to succeed where all others fail, to become an icon - is yours. In #PopIndustry, you will manage and guide your artist to the heights of fame, but it is down to you whether or not they will stay there. From Katy Perry to Bruce Springsteen, One Direction to Madonna, Shakira to Patrick Wolf, you can guide your artist to super stardom!

 

The premise of #PopIndustry is simple - you are the artist. Starting from the bottom, you must compete to reach the heights of stardom by completing weekly challenges.

 

How To Play (Overview):

Starting The Game:
1. Sign up to start being part of #PopIndustry [see below].
2. Wait until the final day of sign-ups to find out which record label your artist has been assigned to. This may be important in future challenges.

In-Game:
1. Be sure to talk properly and appropriately in the thread & entries.
2. Entries will need to be submitted by the deadline set (which will be confirmed each week) to the best of your ability.
3. Your artist will start from 0 on the Leaderboard and the Billboard Top 40. For more information, see the more detailed set of rules below.

Eliminations:
1. After each challenge, one or more artists will be kicked out of the competition and will be eliminated immediately. They will be consigned to the Artist Graveyard.

Immunity:
1. Each week, the winner of the previous challenge will be given immunity. This means that they are automatically through to the next round. They can not be eliminated if they have immunity. 
2. However, you still need to do the tasks, as you will need to continue rising up #TheCharts.

 

The Finale:
1. In the finale, three artists will battle it out in the final challenge. More information on how it will be judged will be revealed nearer the time.
2. In the pre-finale challenge, no players will have immunity.

 

Detailed Rules:

General:

1. Talk properly in every post you make, remembering you are a manager and represent your artist.
2. Do not insult any player or judge. This will result in immediate elimination. 

Missions:
1. Once you’re ready to submit your entry for the mission, it can be either posted - in one or more posts - or linked, using either Dropbox, Mediafire, Google Docs, or Mega.
2. If you don’t post your entry in time, it will not be counted and you may be eliminated immediately, if we see fit.
3. All challenges will have a submission period. Entries posted outside this submission period will not be counted.

Scoring:
1. Scores will be assigned by each judge for their category (up to 15 marks) and for the criteria given (up to 25 marks). You may also receive bonus points if your artist is in the Top 3 of the Billboard Top 40 Charts (Albums/Singles). If your entry goes beyond what is asked, you may be given bonus points.

Eliminations:
1. The player/s eliminated will be the ones who scored lowest on the current challenge, not those who are at the bottom of The Leaderboard.

The Leaderboard:
1. Each week, your individual challenge scores will be added up, giving you a total. This will then be compared with the other players', on The Leaderboard.

The Billboard Top 40:
1. Each time your artist releases a song/album, it will go onto these charts. Based on the amount of promotion you do, or how you “interact” with fans (a favourite is to use fake 'Tweets'), your records will go up and down these charts.

 

Labels:

1. Each label will be in competition with the other labels. Players will get opportunities if they have signed to a label, e.g. a performance.

Immunity:
1. A player can earn immunity more than once.
2. There could be more than one player with immunity each week, except during the Pre-Finale & Finale, when no players will have immunity.

i really don't understand how this game works but i really want to be a "manager". i mean, what does the manager do exactly? when? where? i really want to apply but i'm not sure how this works. and when will it start? because i end school on june 4th meaning ive got from then till the end of time to do nothing. so i will be able to do the judging too but i'm not sure which ones better? if anybody could explain this to me it would be wonderful.
