Once Upon a Dream

Recommended Posts

I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream
I know you, that look in your eyes is so familiar a gleam
Yet I know it's true that visions are seldom all they seem
But if I know you, I know what you'll do
You'll love me at once, the way you did once upon a dream

Ah ah ah mmm

Ah ah ah mmm mmm

But if I know you, I know what you do
You love me at once
The way you did once upon a dream

I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream
I know you, the gleam in your eyes is so familiar a gleam
And I know it's true that visions are seldom all they seem
But if I know you, I know what you'll do
You'll love me at once, the way you did once upon a dream

I wonder what inspired Lana to write this song... it sounds so dark and mysterious, almost fairytale like. It feels as if she's singing about a man she's met in her dreams, maybe it is about her love for Elvis, or maybe K is just a fictional character she created because she dreamt of a man named K. I think she wrote this for Elvis, someone who she could never meet, so he'll always be in her dreams.

Beautiful song, really. It fits with Black Beauty and AFFA, especially with the Ah ah ah's. It's almost as if this song was written in the late 1950's, the lyrics are so from that time. She was truly born in the wrong generation. What a great vocalist and songwriter. I wonder if Angelina Jolie heard other songs from Ultraviolence and I wonder why she picked this song!

Stunning. I love when you can tell a song is purely written by Lana just by the lyrics.

More interpretation: (too long)

 she didn't write it, it's a cover of a song that was written in 1959 for sleeping beauty

Caesar said he’d fall in love with me if I was older. I own all of Mexico and I got my own roller-coaster.

This is some white privilege shit

I saw Disney movies as a kid but I don't actually remember anything really. Mainly because it's not my thing so I don't really care. If I never read that it was from a Disney movie online, I would think she wrote it too tbh. :derpna:

I don't know why no one has talked about this before but

Has anyone noticed the original vocal was less played with for Once Upon A Dream and clearer? She goes off key at 0:15

the trailer and studio version have the same vocal if you line them up, the only difference is it's been pitch corrected (and the radio effect to cover up glitches). Compare at 0:21

that's why the vocals in the studio version has this sort of radio effect, it's so that you can't hear minor key glitches as a result of over pitch correcting a vocal. Lana has been a big fan of doing it (listen to old money for reference)

Also, Young Ruffian has full stems of what I presume is the final version acapella because there isn't the original off notes, and you can hear he has a full semi raw vocals stem at 0:58

(I'm only saying semi raw because there's no effects besides the pitch correcting) has anyone tried contacting him/her? Surely there must be a way for us to get the raw vocal without the radio effect mask over it. I mean we've got video games semi raw vocal! Maybe there's a chance he/she has got the actual raw vocal without the pitch correction that was added later on before release? One of you sisters must be good at getting stuff, can someone try? :poordat:

The best remake of a classic song. Lana´s voice shines !

Love this song

Here in my country its been playing in the History Channel tv, but not  the entire song , only with some lyrics.

It´s like a trailer for their coming up documentaries and its about World War II.
