Lana Live ~ some questions!

Hey hey!

 

Ok, so I'm TRYING to find tickets to the Detroit show on the 15th, but so far all of the broker tickets are above my budget.  If they lower the day before, I'll buy two (one for me, one for my mom!).  If not, I guess I won't go unless someone magically has an extra ticket or something. But I'm PLANNING on attending, so let's pretend this is confirmed.  

 

First of all, I've read some things about the live shows that concern me a little. AND I have a question about meeting her.  (I hope I don't sound like an old fuddy duddy writing these things.)

 

1. Loud, aggressive crowd; mostly teen girls

 ~ Now, I'm only 27, but the energy of teenagers is far and above any energy I will ever have again. I've read that the concerts are so loud that you can hardly hear Lana, and that fights have broken out and it's a general mess. 

 

2. Short Set

 ~ Is it true that Lana only sings for about an hour?  If you've seen her, how many songs did she perform?  Does she spend more time onstage or with the front-row fans?  If I had access to floor tickets I wouldn't complain, but in all likelihood I'll be in the balcony or something. Plus, because my mom wants to see her, as well, I want to make sure she enjoys it.  

 

3. Without the Meet & Greet, is there a chance to still meet Lana before or after a show?  I would be at the Masonic Temple, which is HUGE, and I have no idea where she'd be dropped off or anything.  In your experience, does she tend to come out? If so, is it before or after, and how long did you wait?  

 

THANK YOU!  I look forward to reading the replies; I'd love to see her but am wondering if maybe I should just wait until the Ultraviolence tour and hope to get assured tickets and a quieter venue!

hiya!

 

1. Yes it is mainly teen girls and boys, I went in the uk and got there really late, I was about 10 rows back but I could hear everything that Lana was singing, if you get near the barrier you need good elbows....

 

2. She does spend a lot of time in the pit, if you get seats you'll be able to see her all the time though, her set is shorter than most but she does all her songs (mostly)

 

3. People have been meeting Lana before and after, I think she mainly sleeps before so its probably easier to wait after the show and if your not near the barrier for the show its easier to get out and get a spot around the back to try and meet

I'll warn you that the crowds are very aggressive. I had bruised ribs, a torn dress and beer spilt all over me when I saw her in the UK. Good luck getting tickets! Her voice is lovely live but yes, the crowds are very aggressive. But I'm petite so maybe it's just me!

1. Yes the crowds are loud and aggressive. There was a middle age couple front row at my show and they survived though. It was never hard to hear Lana when she was speaking, but sometimes difficult to hear when she was singing. I was very close to the stage though, and I hear people say that the sound quality is always worst when you are that close.

 

2. Yes, I was surprised when she said they only had one song left. It was probably between an hour and and hour and twenty minutes long. She only went down to the front row twice for my show, I think. She didn't spend a crazy amount of time down there. Maybe a total of 7 minutes and that includes the NA outro.

 

3. I got to my venue at 12:30 and to my knowledge no one saw Lana before the show. I lurked around afterwards for about 30-45 minutes and didn't see her, and the security started kicking out all of the fans that were waiting.

1. I wouldn't use the word aggressive, I would say they are enthusiastic. Mostly gay boys and teen girls on the front lines. At least the concert I attended lots of 20 something guys and girls too, they just don't stand that close to the stage. 

 

2. Her set is ridiculously short and that kind of disappoints me

3. I have a gigantic respect for Lana for not doing Meet & Greet and yes it's not hard to meet her after the show. Sometimes she spends quite a whil;e talking to fans and gp who attended the concert.

I can defintiely relate to being an "older" fan and feeling a bit out of place, in terms of energy.  I'm 24, and I've done some crazy waiting and standing for musicans at festivals and venues; but, I really feel like I overexerted myself for Lana, something that ended up being hugely wasted because being front row wasn't necessarily enjoyable. I loved seeing Lana up-close and getting to interact with her; but, honestly, being several rows back would've made the experience a lot more enjoyable. I'm not interested in getting an autograph or a photo with her.  I wanted to have a conversation with her, so waiting after the show for her to come out was preferable.  Just being able to tell her I was a fan and what her music meant, to me, felt much more intimate and personal, you know?

 

As someone who is kind of a "front row snob" (i.e., I hate not being front row), I have to admit that, for a Lana show, I'm never doing front row again.

I wouldn't mind getting a black eye or bloody cuts if I got to hold Lana's hand or even make eye contact with her. One day my dream will come true.

Thank you ALL so, so much!  Now I want to see it even more, if that's possible. And I'm glad everyone said it's easier to enjoy and hear while seated, because I'm 100% sure that, if I get tickets, they will not be floor. Cross your fingers ... !!!!
