A family friend knows 'Lemony Snicket' so got us a signed book. He signed it, 'To the ____Triplets~ Three Future Orphans.' Currently re-reading The Beautiful and the Damned (Quite slowly, I might add) and wanting to start The Anti Christ by Nietzsche! We had this program in middle school called AR (accelerated reader) where we had to read books then get tested for reading comprehension for points. It was such a drag for me until I found those books & the Little House series by Laura Ingalls Wilder The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath is probably my all-time favorite, along with To Kill a Mockingbird. The movie was great and Tilda Swinton did an excellent job but it misses out on some important parts, in my opinion. I feel like you need to read the book before seeing the film. Perks used to be my favorite novel of all time, until I read A&FAFOL. It's seriously a perfect book. Sure! Although that's a tall order. But I love suggestions. I need something new to capture my interest, I don't think I've finished a book since summer because of school. ...Hang on. I thought the first half of the book was much stronger than the second, where it started getting a little predictable, but I still liked the book. Now I'm reading A Thousand Splendid Suns by the same author, also liking that one. Basically, it breaks down the last 2,000+ years of philosophy into a novel with an engaging plot and intriguing details. I'm just over 200 pages into it, but I really like the translation I have. Can't wait to finish it! If anyone else has read Plato, it's a great refresher/reminder to Platonic thought as a whole. I seriously stagnated with reading last month, I'm not entirely sure why (oh yes, I didn't like the book I was reading but I didn't want to order a new one so soon). So I lavished in Lolita again, although I've read it a couple of times before. Think I'm ready to move on at the moment.
