I Can Fly

Recommended Posts

I can fly

You had me caged up like a bird in midsummer

You saw me waiting

I was crazy on fire

Waiting to fly

I can fly

I had bright wishes in the summer

I was bathing in sunlight

Painting in the garden

Like a ghost in mid-July

Running fast from something

With my eyes wide like saucers

Spinning in the sun

I had a dream that I was fine

I wasn't crazy

I was divine

I can fly

You had me caged up like a bird in midsummer

You saw me waiting

I was crazy on fire

Waiting to fly

I can fly

Your lies were hard kisses in the summer

I was dreaming of a lake

Dreaming of the water

Where I'd rise like a Phoenix

Or an iron from the fire

I've got things to tell you

Like I know that you're a liar

I had a dream that I was fine

I wasn't crazy

I was divine

I can fly

You had me caged up like a bird in midsummer

You saw me waiting

I was crazy on fire

Waiting to fly

I can fly

You words cut like a knife in butter

I was fighting for my art

Fighting with my lover

You had me so tied up

Thinking there's no other

Yeah, right

Yeah, right

I can fly

You had me caged up like a bird in midsummer

You saw me waiting

I was crazy on fire

Waiting to fly

I can fly

She definitely has some more mature lyrics throughout this song, but still manages to incorporate some of what she's used to writing about. This and Big Eyes give off a lot of imagery and I really like it.

You lies were hard kisses in the summer,

I was dreaming of a lake,

Dreaming of the water,

Where I'd rise like a Phoenix,

Soaring high and from/soaring higher from the fire,

I've got things to tell you,

Like I know that you're a liar.

It has to be something along the lines of that, since it makes sense with the common legend that phoenixes rebirth from their ashes, she's comparing rising out of the water like a phoenix would from ashes/flame.

Such beautiful lyrics, I got strong Sucré vibes with this song.

I definitely hear Soaring high and from the fire

Thanks, fixed it!

The outro features the sound of children and thus blends perfectly into Bel Air.

Young & Beautiful, I Can Fly, Bel Air, Old Money are the "Mid-July"-quadruple.

In Y&B she talks about the future and how she thinks it will be.

I Can Fly is in the present but an earlier present than Bel Air which is the immediate present.

Old Money is her future self reminiscing about the past.

JFK shares the same "Summer in Mid-July running in Bel Air"

I CAN FLY

I'm so vain I probably think this song is about me.

#LOONALYSIS

I can fly,

You had me caged up like a bird

CALLED IT, SLUTS! :legend:

A bad sample, repeated often with unwarranted glee.
