It's not about the songs being "dumb", at least not to me -I don't need allusions to quiet collusions born of confusion to enjoy a song. But Ariana is as bland as its gets, she's like a caricature of a fluff-headed thot pop princess, like a character from an SNL skit. I'm not hating on her because I'm a pseudo-intellectual snob. I'll gladly listen to Ayesha Erotica singing about hardcore anal gangbangs picking up emo guys at hot topic, or Lana singing about Jimmy buying her coca cola & peach lip gloss.
