Lana Del Rey Born to Die Billboard Chart Immortality

Recommended Posts

Here is some interesting news-

the Grammy's have announced that the # of nominees will increase starting in 2019 grammy's from 5 to 9

in the following-

Song of the Year

Record of the Year

Album of the Year

Best New Artist

Lana is our modern day Edith Piaf. Totally unique. a mixture of Brian WIlson Roy Orbison, Leonard Cohen, Gram Parsons, Elton & Bernie. Born to Die/Paradise is comparable to Elton's Captain Fantastic. All the records need to be listened whole. Waiting for a box set vinyl of all 400 songs not on any lp

the July 7 chart has been released, and the above is updated.

Imagine Dragons hits 300 weeks (and there are two other albums that in the next couple of weeks will hit their 300 week)

Good news though- On the alternative album chart- Lana notches her 197th week for Born to Die (and that is only a top 25 chart)

Next week, the new system for charting both the Hot 100 and the Album chart will be in place

Chart updated with the July 14 issue, the one which billboard has changed the method, and also added a new ringer-

Streams are now weighted for singles much more than in the past, and the physical sale of singles, albums is much less.

However- it also seems like the Hot 100 might become like the Country Charts, split in two of equal importance, with streams on the Main chart

but radio which already has its own chart for Airplay on Radio becoming more important. So two consequences.

We shall see.

Amazing news on other charts though-

Lana notches her 198 week on the alternative album chart for Born to Die (which reached #1 on the Alternative album chart)

and notches her 206th week on the Rock album chart for Born to Die

oh so it's true ? thanks @lanashoneypot

we stan a legend  :wowcry:

I wonder why it happened now that lana is more silent than ever

it may has to do with a new counting system that Graham mentioned?

Lana Del Rey’s breakthrough album has hit a new milestone on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

After a several month hiatus, ‘Born to Die’ re-enters the ranking of America’s top 200 unit sellers this week (chart dated July 21). With a total of 312 non-consecutive weeks on the chart, ‘Born to Die’ has now spent an astonishing six years on the list.

Released in January 2012, ‘Born to Die’ debuted and peaked at #2 on the Billboard 200 (behind Adele’s ’21’) with 77,000 pure copies sold. A strong recurrent seller, it has sold nearly 20x that amount as of the week ending July 5, 2018.
