Flow Festival

"The Nordic countries' coolest music festival"
- Vogue (US)

Flow Festival has become synonymous with bringing music from old school legends to topical newcomers. Beyond the music, Flow offers a warm embrace of the arts and an exceptional array of world spanning cuisine. Only a short walk away from the centre of Helsinki, the festival strikes an alluring setting of blissed-out festival escapism for a few days. There are easily enough activities to keep attendees occupied, if ever spending a summer weekend in the culture hub Helsinki wasn’t enough.
Flow Festival is held in a disused power station built at the turn of the century. Only a short walk away from the centre of Helsinki, a monumental architectural site is brought to life with light design and decorations beyond compare.

“Without a doubt one of the most unique experiences in live music today.”
- DIY (UK)

The festival features 10 to 12 different venues every year: larger outdoor and tent stages plus intimate indoor and outdoor venues. For example, the Main Stage can engage an audience of 20 000, and smaller stages an audience of some hundreds.
A landmark you spot at the festival is the roof of the Balloon 360° stage – a gigantic pressurized balloon. Balloon 360° was created in 2012 as the result of an international architecture competition. The winning stage construction, Balloon, fits well into the chronological continuum of Suvilahti, and the area’s architectural idea of combining old and new. The stage offers the audience and the artists a remarkable chance of interaction during the performances.

“Flow Festival is a fairytale come true.”
- Clash Magazine (UK)

“Flow hits it out of the park with its lineups each year”
- The Huffington Post (US)

“One of Europe’s most acclaimed festivals has announced a stellar line-up for 2017.”
- NME (UK)

The music presented at Flow is a strong and varied selection of up and coming and established artists from indie rock to top jazz and from underground hip-hop to top-tier electronic music, both from the Finnish and the international scene. In addition, Flow’s historic power plant structures will be graced with classical contemporary music as well as unique series of music called The Other Sound, that focuses on some of today’s most exciting experimental music. Lana's description on flowfestival.com

5EuXI7t.png

Lana Del Rey is one of the most fascinating pop stars of the 2010s. Her dark and melancholy pop is cloaked in nostalgia and is as influenced by the Hollywood glamour of old as it is by the esthetic tropes of generation Tumblr. It’s a sunset in pastel hues in Hollywood. It’s a vain attempt to forget heartache, vengeful thoughts and an attempt to get much too intoxicated. Lana Del Rey’s fifth album “Lust for Life” was released in July, just before her performance at Flow Festival.

Alright, it's a bit over two weeks away but decided to make a thread for it already, in case there are anyone interested and perhaps even other goers than myself. I last saw Lana on Paradise Tour June 16th 2013 and now my 4 years of waiting are finally coming to an end :icant: Will keep updating as more information comes along so stay tuned y'all.

Yesssssss wig flew etc. I'm stressed tho bc I'd love to be in the front row but there are other girls I'd love to see as well on Friday so idk what to do

Oh no  The only other act I'm interested in is Femme En Fourrure but they're on at 20.45 so I'm definitely sacrificing them for Lana since I don't even listen to them that much. But yeah I don't even know what I'm gonna do either, most likely won't make it to first row but I'm aiming for as close as possible, maybe somewhat 1st row-ish. Last time I was in like 6th row or so and it was good but it'd still be nice to get somewhere closer.  :flutter: I'm probably gonna try meeting her on the 10th so it all kinda depends on that, if I'm lucky then I don't give a damn about first front at Flow.  :thumb3: Idk we'll see

FEF is my problem here  :crai: I'll probably be in the back for a couple of songs and then run to the main stage. But my friends were in the front row last year for Sia and the stage is so high they didn't see Sia at all  :toofloppy:  Then again Lana usually comes down to take photos but idk I wish she had her own concert instead lmao. Everything worked so well in 2013 except for the Cola fuck up

Yeah, the stage being quite high is definitely a minus. So it's kind of comforting knowing that being a bit in the back you can actually see her, but then again she comes down so idk. The chances of me getting in the front are quite small so I probably shouldn't even worry about not being able to see her lol

I've been all year like "oh cool Lana's coming" but now it really hit me and I'm fucking shook ahhhh I really can't wait for tomorrow. I heard rumours about some people trying to create a mosh pit during Video Games sfjhfjhkkdfhjksjhgjhg

wtf... :toofunny:

I've been struggling for days trying to decide whether I should go to Helsinki today and try to meet her or not. If I lived a bit closer it'd be an easy decision to make but since I'd have to take a 30-minute train trip to get there and another one back to get home, the trains alone would cost me almost 15€ and I really don't feel like spending that amount of money for possibly nothing. And the fact that I'd have to go all by myself with no company at all isn't exactly thrilling either, especially when I have no clue of Lana's whereabouts at the moment and would probably have to spend hours just hanging out in front of the hotel. I've checked today's flights coming from Oslo but she could be on any of them... assuming she is coming by the end of the day to be all set up for tomorrow and so on. :deadbanana:

I'm just trying to find updates on what she's up to on Twitter and Instagram like a maniac, not knowing what to do at all.

And by the way, from what I gathered it seems like they didn't sell any of her merchandise in Oslo either. One of my friends is actually working at Flow festival and has an early shift tomorrow, so she promised to let me know if she finds out they have any merchandise up for sale. They do have a store for artist merchandise so I'm really hoping they'd have some (new) Lana stuff but I guess I should just prepare myself for nada. And if my friend gets to see her doing a soundcheck or something... :defeated:

The area opens at 3.30PM and apparently I'm coming soon after that, around 4PM or so - which means around 7 hours of waiting before Lana actually gets on stage  :toofunny: Guess I'll just hang around with my friend while keeping an eye on the crowd at the main stage. Nevertheless I'll probably go wait there around the time Beth Ditto's on at 8.15PM.

Today!  :excited: I was already quite nervous last night but somehow still managed to get sleep, turns out that's nothing compared to how excited and nervous I am right now lol. It's 9AM and I'm not leaving until before 3PM but I'm already getting slowly ready.

Edit: Lana's currently doing her soundcheck! My friend working at Flow sent me a couple of audio clips of her singing Ride.  :defeated: She also saw to the stage a moment ago but didn't get any pics. The stage is also quite high so I guess it's better to avoid front row if you actually want to see her when she's not down meeting fans lol
