9 likesfrom what i’ve gleaned, Reading is a tad more easygoing than it’s Leeds counterpart! i’ll try to elaborate just so it makes a lil more sense why i’m dreading it so much hahah! honestly, i don’t want to sound like i’m being super mean about leeds fest; i quite enjoyed it when i was much much younger, but going back as an adult i absolutely hated it. my friends are all massive lana fans and we went down to london and spent a bunch of money to see her at hyde park so they’re the kind to follow lana to the gates of hell, but even they’re all refusing to come with me to leeds fest so we can see her and it’s only down the road from us leeds fest is very much a young persons festival; it’s the end of gcses / end-of-college-year tradition for many 15-18 year olds up north. as such, it’s about 90% filled with underage teens who aren’t used to that sort of environment getting absolutely off their head - as they should! bc partying is fun and drugs and booze and live music and festivals are all the most fun at that age! i’d never slate them for that! but being there as an adult was very very jarring for me. last time i went i took my nephew and bc it was a birthday gift for him, we spent a lot of time in the hip hop tent bc that’s where most of his fave artists were and i believe i was the oldest person in the entire tent - i was 24 at the time so because it’s full of young and inexperienced partygoers, a lot of them don’t know how to act, they don’t have concert etiquette and it can just feel like a giant expensive sweaty freshers fair at points. for example, just anecdotes from my personal experience but my nephew and i were there for a day, and in that one day: a 16 year old tried chatting me up and would not leave me alone so when i finally raised my voice at him because i’d been politely asking him to back off for 20 minutes (not least of all because he was an actual child!) he ragged my hair and pushed me over into a bunch of unsuspecting girls and they all went toppling over (lol he he wasn’t used to rejection i guess? idk); my 15 year old nephew got punched in a face by a random 19 year old lad because he asked my nephew if he sold cocaine (like WHAT he’s FIFTEEN LOL), my nephew laughed and said no, and the 19 year old got lairy bc my nephew was “taking the piss out of him” and a big fight ensued - there was no security around so it took 5ft3 me tearing this 6ft4 wasted roidhead off my nephew to get the fight to stop; i got a giant bruise on my forehead because someone launched a glass wine bottle across the crowd and of course it would hit me!! right in the forehead!! lmao; i managed to catch a gnarly sunburn that lasted for months after (even w plenty of sunscreen!) because there are barely any tented or shaded areas AT ALL, lots of people were passing out from sunstroke etc (which is common for festivals but leeds fest is particularly egregious with its poor design); my nephew got injured because he was backing away from a mosh pit that was forming in the crowd (he just wanted to hear the music and nod his head a little, he didn’t wanna go crazy or nothing) but a bunch of kids decided to push him so hard into the middle of it that they actually knocked him over and he got kicked a load of times and injured his ankle by going down on it funny (one kid actually pulled him by his shirt to throw him directly into the middle of the mosh pit, mind you we were towards the back of the crowd so we weren’t even in the middle or at the front or anything like that, so why they thought it was okay to do that is absolutely beyond me); i spent about £250 just to feed and hydrate me and my nephew for the day, but that being said i did have a few alcoholic drinks which are of course more expensive, but still! i also remember it being about £15 just to use any of the phone charging ports; there was a literal used needle in the bathroom stall i used at one point which baffled me cause like…. kids are doing heroin now? is that hip now? is that what they’re doing? the mind boggles!; a kid actually died the day we were there from an overdose, bless his poor little soul. all in all, the crowd that leeds fest seems to attract is usually quite awful. a lot of random fires, often they’ll set fire to tents in the camping areas at night time, lots of violence, lots of uncomfortable situations involving young kids being absolutely out of it. i don’t think that it being a young persons festival is a bad thing at all, and i don’t even think it’s inherently bad to have an obnoxious crowd at a festival like this - i just think that if you’re an adult or if situations like that can make you anxious/uncomfortable, it can be unpleasant. reading attracts a similar age bracket, but i believe the levels of obnoxiousness and chaos are a little lower than leeds! like i say, i don’t intend to actually slate the festival or the people that go to it - i think young people need a place where they can get to grips with substances and partying and crowd etiquette and things like that! i think that’s a good thing! but it is also my idea of hell but for lana…. i’m willing to do it i’m sorry this was so long but i hope that shed a little light on it for you!! <3 i am so glad it’s not just me being mean about leeds fest in this thread i was starting to sound like a bitter old lady omfg

8 likesa morgan wallen collab would be the absolute worst decision for her to make, controversies aside, from what i've heard, his music sounds like hot garbage and collaborating with such a basic, mainstream, commercialized country artist who's hardly actually country, and who's also known for saying the n-word, would be a very embarrassing look for her, she could do so much better

7 likesSo…… we agree? Nobody supports Hamas, or violence against civilians. We all want to see people living equally and in peace, yes? So we should ALL be in support of an END to the siege. An END to the OCCUPATION. and the ESTABLISHMENT of REAL FRAMEWORK. I think I can speak for all of us when I say that it’s the lip service on behalf of our governments that cause our opinions to become so heated. We are all brothers and sisters on lanaboards. We just want to see lives saved. It’s times like these where we cannot afford to carry the weight of the world on our shoulders. By no means does this mean I think we should stop talking about this and the updates from the ground. Awareness is key. But I’m really going to try to not be so quick to lash out at people like @Noam, like another user said, their experience living there is probably much different from ours. We have access to an unbias perspective from the internet. Someone who grows up to serve in the IDF therefore enforcing the oppression (regardless if they want to believe that’s what they were doing or not) is going to think it is normal. Even acceptable. We should just strive to further awareness more than anything. Post the articles, videos, and interviews. QUOTE/CALL OUT the people spewing lies and ILLUSTRATE the double standards. but most importantly take care of yourselves. Take a day off from reading about things. Put down the connection. It’s so easy to fall down a rabbit hole of hopelessness in times like these. We can’t fight for anyone if we are not healthy ourselves. happy holidays if you celebrate guys, god bless.

6 likesI think this thread is a perfect example of how things are getting messy in the international discourse. Putting it in spoiler because it's long: That said, some things should be simple enough not to get confused but for some reason, it's hard for some people: You can criticize the despicable, evil actions of the Israeli government without being antisemistic. You can hold Hamas responsible for their crimes and still support Palestine. All Jews aren't Zionists. All Palestinians aren't terrorists. All Israeli don't support Netanyahu. All Palestinians don't support Hamas. I don't know if the two-state solution will ever see the light of the day and if Palestinians will finally live in peace, but I do know the true victims right now are the civilians being bombed, killed and mutilated for crimes they didn't commit. All the money and energy Western countries are putting in that conflict should be for humanitarian aid and nothing else. Side note: I wouldn't ban people spouting IDF propaganda. There's a slim chance they've been brainwashed and interacting with other people might open their eyes. As slim as it is, I'd still take it.

as someone who used to love calling her junkie and i'm sure she is no stranger to sniffing around, there are a couple things i learnt over the years: her last few struggling defenders will start a fight over any mentions of drug abuse, so it's not worth the headache to Ellen and the #JailSkyFerreira movement although it's fun drama! another thing is, blaming something other than HER just achieves what she has been doing herself for the last decade. i have not once seen this girl take ownership or responsibility for anything that's going on around her and as can be seen on my previous post even in 2010 she had the same deflecting and blaming language. everyone in LA and the music industry are on something, whether it's the little baggies or the pharma drugs/pills or the green devil... i would have partied with sky ferreira in her younger days, do some molly and drag her ass to a studio have some fun, my point is that y'all need to stop trying to come up with the perfect excuse that explains these girls actions and behaviour when she was doing the exact same thing in 2010, everyone at the time completely believed her when she kept saying she was being shelved/delayed, before there was any "lyme disease", before there was any white lines and black beaches, and look i'm sure capitol was no easy to deal with but she has been brainwashing us into blaming the big bad label for over a decade and I WON'T HAVE ANY OF IT! -
6 likesThat must be why they’ve been poisoning the water too…. And blowing up reporters…. And nurses…. And doctors….. and schools…… and ambulances…… and convoys of literal refugees…… and children….. and mosques……. And churches……… and bakeries…. Neighbourhoods………… you name it! 5 likesWhat are your Lana listening habits? Do you listen to her every day? Is there a particular album or song that you play religiously? Do you listen to her more or less compared to other artists? I listen to music every day and Lana makes up a chunk of my music library, but I try to sprinkle it across, so that I’m not overplaying. I can think of a few artists in the past that I played too often and it kind of diminished the effect. I bet I have more of her songs in my library than I do for any other artist and my interest only continues to grow, but I do listen to other music too! There are certain songs of hers that are my go-tos when I’m in my feels. Sometimes I will sit down and listen to an individual LDR record from start to finish. I should do this more often… Once in a while I’ll just put her entire library on shuffle and listen to it for hours until it’s been all or mostly covered. That’s what I’m doing today since it’s been a while. When I had a long road trip to the last show of hers I went to, I did the same thing. It really set the tone and mood of the event. Something that inevitably happens when I play her full library on shuffle is that I’ll rediscover a song of hers that I initially overlooked. It’s a nice change of pace. I know that she’s only had nine official releases, but it feels like so much more than that. Maybe it’s because she’s evolved so much as an artist and that her library is quite diverse. I don’t think there’s been a thread like this before? But someone let me know if there is one.

5 likesaw thank you honey!! <3 honestly, i got into the car when my mum picked us up and i was like “oh we had such a great time didn’t we!” because my nephew was still buzzing from all the excitement, but the minute she dropped him off i was like “mother this has altered my brain chemistry and i am never ever ever EVER going back there EVER AGAIN that was the worst day of my LIFE” all it took was a little lana del rey headline set and i’m running back there like a bunny to a carrot i am not a woman of integrity

5 likesHamas's actions on October 7th cannot be justified in the name of retaliation It's not like Hamas orchestrated a tactical attack on Israeli military targets. They orchestrated a massive and brutal assault on innocent civilians (both Jewish and Muslim; contrary to popular belief, Israel is not some white Jewish monolithic state) and took hundreds of hostages in the process

4 likesthe vibe of listening to her while traveling - whatever the mode of transportation or distance - is incomparable. I fell in love with her songs listening to them at those moments and I still have this habit to this day. whether driving, on the bus and, especially, flying

4 likesI actually made a thread like this one before, but instead of following suit w a smart aleck comment, I do wanna say: - Cherry in the bath is a surprise recharge. and is an overall mood of a listen - Peppers whenever - Brooklyn Baby's perfect for the beach - Ocean Blvd when I wanna feel understood I like pacing the songs out and extending the moments with them regardless of what, and when I personally feel like the moment needs to progress or pass, I turn the music off soon after. I think that's why I like her interludes if anything

4 likesThere are unfortunately many (1000+) cases of illegitimate imprisonment in Israel and I agree that they need to stop ASAP. Administrative detention should be reserved for rare and real security threats and the way Israel uses it for mere speech that they deem inciteful and the like is incomprehensible. It's also unfair that Israelis get sent to civil court and Palestinians get sent to military court (much higher conviction % and little leniency) for the same crimes That being said, it doesn't excuse Hamas taking innocent Israeli hostages on October 7th

4 likesI'm 99% sure that Stand By Your Man cover will be on LDR10. She sang it on the tour all the time like she sang For Free on The NFR! Tour. And it somehow suits her current Americana aesthetic too. We'll see, maybe it's on American Standards & Classics.

4 likesI’ve been to the last two (2022 and this year). Unfortunately not going to next year’s as I want to try something new but they were both very fun!! 2022 was their first festival after COVID so it was messy but the lineup was amazing, which made it worth it. There were some glaring issues in 2022, mainly with crowding in bigger stages and limited water refill stations, which was mostly fixed in 2023 (however the lineup wasn’t as good as 2022 so I don’t think it was as popular/crowded). Food and drink is very fairly priced. I’m from the US so it was surprising that the festival starts at 4pm and ends at like 6am the next day - the headliners are likely end at 2am each day. The weather is always perfect since Barcelona is by the beach, Barcelona is just a great city in general, and it’s an overall experience of a lifetime imo. The lineup is probably a godsend to us here at LB but I don’t think it’s amazing for the general public, so I suspect it will be more similar to 2023 than the hectic 2022. Lana is for sure the biggest draw, so expect her day and set to have the worst crowds. Overall, it’s amazing festival and for me, it’s been so worth it every time (I would try to spend another week or so in Barcelona/Spain just to make it worth it). let me know if you have any questions! I can talk about PS all day long

3 likesThe problem is that people always blame the other side for everything (whether they are right or not). Everyone should first solve the problems on their own doorstep, the Palestinians should ask themselves if they are trivializing the terror of Hamas too much or distancing themselves from it too little, and the Israelis should actually realize that they are constantly increasing the terror and hatred against them with their military actions, violations of international law, and illegal settler activities.
