Love is being slept on by the fandom a lot. Honestly the only reason why it was kind of successful by the time it was released that it got really great promo and the Youtube algorithym made it recommend to many people (it's true, I downloaded Youtube on someone's phone and when I opened it, the first video it got recommended was Love and I blushed). Although the chart performance was kinda moderate. But like, I've seen people saying that Love is boring but while it's not really a song with replay value, like it's not an upbeat song with beats and such but it has a cinematic experience, one of her most beautiful music videos and the message about love and the youth, crossing the cosmic witchy and retrofuturistuc hippie thematics... honestly when I heard it for the first time, I wasn't really amazed because I kinda found it modest but later I was blown away with the thematics and it's really a heartwarming song. The lazy tempo of the song reminds me of Cigarettes After Sex songs and it marks the transition between Honeymoon and Lust For Life perfectly, like from Swan Song (I don't really count DLMBM because it's a cover) to Love, listen to the lyrics and the sound, they kinda contradict but flow within eachother perfectly, it's like a character arc or something. Just some late night thoughts...💤

The way this has fully become my favorite Lana album. Like imagine not loving an album that has A&W on it This is also maybe my favorite era as well, just such a return to classic Lana after two very troublesome years to be a Lana stan

so this happened, and NONE of the people there tortured her with questions about certain something? no one asked anything and wanted actual answers? her fans are just as weird.

I just don’t want any more stripped back mixing and mastering- add some dynamic loudness range, keep some parts quite and some a little louder

too lazy? she did a whole festival tour to promote the album, she was in the Sunday Times and on the cover of Harper's Bazaar. I think she's really done a lot this year.

Yeah I don’t think people realize how successful this album has been. I remember when UV and NFR started doing more daily streams everyone was quick to call it a flop but NFR and UV took years to build up to those numbers, Ocean Blvd has been so consistent since release, more than NFR was ~7 months after release. In the end, It’ll probably end up being 1. BTD 2. NFR/UV (these two are neck and neck) 3. NFR/UV 4. Ocean Blvd

I think this is one of those situations where intention is really important. At the time, I don't think it was made to offend someone - other than those who were so anti-gay and anti-LGBTQ+ in general. It was edited for the radio and some radio stations banned it, both because of the Coca Cola name being used but also subject matter. Some stations thought it wasn't "radio friendly" enough because of what he was singing about. It's iconic for a reason. Ray talked about it, saying, "It really doesn't matter what sex Lola is, I think she's alright". I think it's just a representation of the youth of that time, being more open-minded. (This also scares me because most people my age now are pretty open minded about LGBTQ+ plus, but looking at how the older generations have flipped their opinions, it worries me that my generation will do the same.) Also, it's ironic, considering the name of the band, but that isn't offensive lmao I'm not trans or dress in drag, but I do think it's an important topic that's already had and will always be had surrounding this song. Either way it's an important, classic song and i'm pretty sure it's my bf's favorite song from The Kinks. Probably my favorite too, next to Yes Sir No Sir from the album before Lola, Arthur

I am not trans but the song is super unapologetically queer and is ahead of its time. Queer anthem but people don’t pay attention to the lyrics. Same with YMCA by Village People! This lyric, to me, affirms that the singer (Ray Davies) can see that Lola is a confident human who appears to be the only one in the world who has a grasp on their life, considering the world around them. And I think he sees her confidence as something to behold. Things were hectic and topsy-turvy in the late 60s early 70s but it was also around the time that counterculture, queer rights, and women’s rights had finally come to a head so I think he’s just trying to place Lola as someone who knows what they are (a cross-dresser or trans woman) amidst a rapidly-changing society Obviously there are parts of the song where the specific words he uses may be disrespectful nowadays. But it is one of the greatest songs of all time!

Mary Magdelane is fan made. I made it using a filtered instrumental. Hilarious people were trading it. Thousand Eyes demo is missing about a minute and thirty seconds. Someone’s cut the opening and it’s choppy mid way through. I’m sure the others have been messed with too. Would be curious to hear from someone with OG files.

So if she's left Capitol, does that really mean Masochism is gone? If that's the case, I think unless she teams up with a great producer very very soon who really supports her and challenges her, her music career is officially over.

When LFL first came out Love was the song I listened to the least. I thought the music video was fantastic but the song just didn’t grab me, I have no idea why. Maybe because I liked to see myself through Lana’s world and words and I felt like that song kind of shattered my illusion that I was the main character in her songs LMAOO but NOW I absolutely adore it. Idk what changed, but Love gives me the absolute best feeling. It’s so good
