I love this song so much. Has some emotions Lana doesn't really show much in most of her songs. Sounds tender, honest like really from the heart. Look how cheesy my description is...hahaha...but is what I feel when I hear it

In Body Eletric I think Lana talks about 2 specific moments in her life. I think the song is related to K. The way Lana changes who her daddy, mother and bestest friends is I think is a way to mark those 2 moments.

Lana said that she has contact with the mother of the man she sings about (in this case I think is K). Grand Ole Opry is a show that is broadcasted every friday night. Maybe they use to listen to the show together and now every friday night she goes out and pretends K is still here. Here she is more young and innocent listening to Elvis and dressing like Marylin

Later her her daddy becomes Whitman, Monaco as a Mother and diamonds as bestest friend.  I think is a way to mark time in the sense she had changed and time passess as life goes on.  Is also a sign of somewhat loneliness and emptiness but also more money. Diamonds and Monaco represent opulence but also emptyness. Is a place and a thing. Whitman as father which is a poet that also talks a lot about death. Lana mentioned him several times and quoted hiis poem a child in the grass in her old missdaytona twitter account. I think the time fits with what she is talking in Body Eletric and also fits the music.

This is the trick part to me. I don't personaly think Lana ever tried to kill herself. It takes a lot of desperation to take your own life. As much as she suffers I don't see her doing it. The other thing is she is somewhat religious and obssessed with heaven. People who commit suicide in most religions don't get to heaven. To me the reference as suicide is a way to say she was desperate. You have many ways to use suicide as a figure of speech or K has commited suicide because of the life style he chose for himself and his suicide is the father, the reason, why she is alone. Opulence is the end is also interesting since her mother is now monaco and her bestest friend are diamonds. In the end she ended up with many things but whithout what she really wanted that was k.

One of the things about diying young is that you never grow old. Is a very strange thing specially when you look at pictures.  I guess that is what Lana is talking about since looking to pictures of someone who you lost and than looking at yourself in the mirror you really see how time has passed even if that person is pretty alive in your memories and in your head. In your head time stands still but in reality years has gonne by. I think here she makes that reference that her clothes still smell like him and the pictures shows her he is still young and in  her mind she pretends they got each other.

These mommy days of hers took away one of my favs but it's all good, Lily is happy and I'm happy for her.
 
I love both albuns, Alright Still and It's Not Me It's You, but INMIY is my fav no doubt. I used to play it no stop and is hard to find an album that you can listen to all songs without wanting to skip a song or 2 or 5. In my humble opinion she is one of the best songwriters out there. So many goodies on her on INMIY  that is hard to pick favorites. Some of my LA addictions: Fuck You, 22, Everyone is at It, LDN, Alfie, It's Not Fair, Little Things, Everybody is Changing, Whod have Known, The Fear.....

I think the thing is we have access to countless artists and new material all the time. You can find a new band/ artist every day in youtube if you look for it. There for we end up wanting new things all the time. And new and old is a confusing process when you call an album from 4 years ago old material.

I think when you are really drunk or high to the point your soul leaves your body and you are there but not there you try whatever. Maybe she tried and did for a couple times meth, heroin or/and crack. But not really an addict. Like some already mentioned those drugs make you look like you were hit by a truck after a while. Lana is far away from a truck accident. Well maybe she has very strong constituitions and good genes but the rule is doing such drugs really fucks you up inside and outside. Coke I don't know. A few people do coke for years and are able to control it somehow while most people get addicted and fucked up faster. I guess genetics play a big part when the subject is addiction. Like the difference from being a user and becoming an addict. What I find more intriguing as some also already mentioned is the timeline. If she was making a meth party in her tralier in 2007 and was living in the trailer park from 07 to 09 how was she able to be in London in 08?? Lana's timeline is a grey zone to me. Well maybe she can teleport herself around the globe. Maybe she is the evolution we all are waiting for. Clean and drugged at the same time. She says she is clean over 7 years which makes the timeline even more sketchy. Maybe Lizzy is her twin and she is hidden in a basement at papa's Grant house singing Yayo to herself.
