Kate Bush besides a select few songs  I respect her artistry so much and I don’t know why I haven’t been able to, I’ve been trying to like her for over half a decade at this point. I love a lot of artists that she shares fans with like Tori Amos, Björk, Fiona Apple, etc etc but I can’t get into Kate for some reason. I think maybe her voice is just too like, theatrical and dramatic for my taste

it’s really sad because marina is such a good artist but nothing she’s released has done it for me in 8 years, besides Purge the Poison and Man’s World which are a fun listen sometimes. something unfortunate shifted when she dropped The Diamonds

this is so well put and you hit the nail on the head. people are so quick to call all shocking or sometimes offensive art “problematic” when that isn’t the case at all in most situations

i have no clue what was up with Chuck faking polaroids circa 2018, like why not just shoot on an actual instant film camera??  like this other official press photo from the MAC release, the polaroid frame is definitely edited better but it’s still very clearly a digital photograph, it just looks off 😭

well these last weeks have gone by very fast because of the Xmas leaks and now this conversation… the next drought begins now  

kind of very bummed learning that lana loves Cali so much, I just hate the idea of things leaking that she is still considering putting out eventually but it’s so hard to tell with her which old songs she likes and which ones she doesn’t

i really don’t understand why most artists don’t just share this information themselves, people really do genuinely care about it and it can extend the life of an album cycle drastically. like imagine an artist doing a little newsletter thing where they send an essay per month on how 1 song from the album came to be and attach pictures from making it, mention specific writing and recording dates, share downloads to a few demos, etc etc. i don’t know if they just don’t care to or don’t realize how many fans are interested in hearing about the creative process

a very simple example of mixing is like, if a vocal track is too loud, turning it down so it doesn’t awkwardly stick out in the song. more intricately though it’s EQing stuff so there’s not any weird frequencies, compression so if a singer is singing quietly at one part and the belting in another it doesn’t kill your ear drums, comping vocal tracks and using the best parts from multiple takes, etc etc it can get very tedious and redundant and annoying 😭 mixing engineers deserve as much credit as producers tbh

okay as bummed and shocked as i am at these revelations it’s also oddly comforting knowing that those songs at least weren’t obtained through hacking or anything, like it was just PW being gullible
