What was your reaction of the BTD to UV transition?
SlowGinFizzzz replied to Honeyyoung's topic in Lana Thoughts
It actually felt like a very organic transition to me, even though it was quite a change in sound. Like, some of the Paradise Tour versions were already pretty rock-ish and guitar-heavy, so songs like West Coast or Cruel World just made perfect sense. And personally, Ultraviolence didn't take me any longer to get into than Born To Die or Paradise did. Also, I spent a month in California that summer, so obviously I was feeling that West Coast vibe lol. For me, the transition that was pretty hard to digest was Ultraviolence -> Honeymoon. If you think about it, both Born To Die (and Paradise) and Ultraviolence featured big production, it's just that they're different genres. Honeymoon, on the other hand, was so stripped back and slow in comparison. At first I only really liked HBTB, MTWBT and especially The Blackest Day; everything else literally took me months to get into, and even today there are songs that I hardly ever listen to (or only listen to the demos because they're just light years better – looking at you, Freak and GKIT). -
NEVERMIND! I only just realised that Andrew Watt and Andrew Wyatt are two different people. Andrew Watt is the one that did Break My Heart and Prisoner, or Lana's Doin' Time and Charli's White Mercedes. All certified bops! Andrew Wyatt (the one in the picture) produced New Love back in the day. I guess Wyatt is fine too, but I actually got excited about the prospect of more Watt snsnsnsn.

I usually try to just avoid artists that I don't care about musically, but some are just too inescapable to ignore. Lady Gaga rubs me the wrong way with her post-Artpop (or even post-Born This Way) releases and the way she's (still) portrayed as some kind of pop visionary. Like, she's always had a sense of pretentiousness to her, but with The Fame Monster or Born This Way, she had the music to actually back up that kind of behaviour and it pretty much felt like an essential part of the whole "Gaga" package; with her newer stuff and especially Chromatica, on the other hand, it almost sounds like she's parodying herself. Taylor Swift is another super popular singer that is kind of a difficult one for me. I find her very fascinating as a person and a businesswoman; I love the badassness of just rerecording her entire back catalogue, and I also think she's a pretty great writer. But I can't get into her as a singer. I just don't find her voice particularly enjoyable to listen to, and unfortunately she – to me – also isn't one of those singers that despite not having an objectively great voice can still turn it into greatness with their unique style and just the kind of music they make (I'm thinking Gwen Stefani, for example, or Amy Winehouse or even Madonna). So yeah, although I have a lot of respect for her, I just can't really get into her music. And finally, Ed Shitrat AKA the Devil himself, but we all already knew that.

Well this is simply problématique tragique. At least we'll always have Era 1, Clarity and TOTL, I guess...

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I want Lana to do a rock album produced by Lenny Kravitz.

Blue Banisters - Post-Release Discussion Thread + Poll
SlowGinFizzzz replied to Elle's topic in Post-Release Threads
Just some thoughts: This album is better than Chemtrails and L*st F*r L*fe, but not as good as NFR, Born To Die, or Ultraviolence. Black Bathing Suit is a career highlight and her best song in years. Just stunning. The second half of Blue Banisters is stronger than the first one. Blue Banisters is lowkey her worst title track to date, don't @ me. Wildflower Wildfire remains the best one of the four pre-release singles. Why is Miles Kane not credited as a featured artist on Dealer nnn? I'm so happy she put Thunder and Living Legend on the album. The correct Holy Trinity of this album is Black Bathing Suit, Thunder, and Living Legend. In conclusion: She fucking did it again! -
Fun fact: This queen was actually in my English textbook back in the day.

The fact that she left I'm High, Platform Shoes and Hello Kitty (all 10/10) off the mixtape, but somehow it's still all killer no filler. Talentry etc.

The Madame X tour film is out now! On Paramount+ nnn. Fortunately, those of us in Europe/UK can also watch it on TV Now, which you can try for free for seven days! Of course, there's also an audio version out on all streaming platforms.

Could be? It's definitely from the Truth sessions.

Yeah I'm not paying that much for five tracks (especially with that horrendous shipping, plus I'd probably have to pay an import fee too since they ship it from the UK). I'm just gonna hope that she'll have the vinyl available to buy at her show. Also, I wonder if there'll be a CD version too. And while we're at it, WE NEED A COLLXTION II CD REISSUE! Literally the only CD I'm missing, I could k*** myself for not buying it back when it was available.
