yes but if WAP isn't being criticized as a wrong representation of straight ppl why are people criticizing rush for the same thing but for queer culture

also, another example for me of how queerphobia is being deep rooted in our brains is how you instantly went on linking both things - a queer artist releasing a sexual video and queer people being naked on the streets - these are two completely different things and i don't really think they're related at all! if a straight artist did something nasty the public never judge the entire straight culture because of it, like we can just be critical of his individual art and not feed into this whole propaganda against queer people because even if we're somehow a community we should never be judged as a whole

i think your opinion is mainly based on being shamed as a queer person for even thinking about expressing your sexuality (as most of us were/still are) bc there's way more "sex anthems" on the market by straight artists than queer artists and people dont really gaf about it because it's so common for them... but when it's from a gay artist it's suddenly an issue and it basically comes from internalized queerphobia is what i'm saying

i disagree with the comments here. usually i would agree that the whole “sex sells” thing is old but it’s a newer vibe for troye and i think it’s fun. usually his videos, even if about sex, are quite flowery and metaphoric (which i love!!), but a summer bop never hurt anyone. i loved seeing both girls & guys having fun and shaking their ass 🤷‍♀️

like I remember TOTL was how I first heard of her. She made a pretty iconic moment with it, i think she should return to her “roots” and drop the third volume and save us

I'm starting to agree with the reviewers who say she 'sold out' stylistically in that she didn't offer anything other artists couldn't do. I think the most both Kim and mainstream-palatable thing on here is King of Hearts, but I agree that very little stands out if you're not into Kim (and aren't bowled over by her vocals). I adore the new songs on the album but that's probably true, and it makes me sad that her team let TOTLV3 (a project nobody could EVER say was anything but Kim) go by the wayside for an attempt to 'mainstream' Kim that was never going to work. Kim on her own generated her current fanbase. Kim cosplaying other artists, or trying to be on the level of mainstream success as Katy Perry in a time when the biggest artists are people like Harry Styles and Olivia Rodrigo (i.e. club music is probably not gonna make you the biggest artist right now) is not fair to her as someone who makes good music (and has a decent, if not A-list, audience!) when she just lets herself be herself.

I don't know, to me, the difference is that Orange Trees is one of the few songs on that album that are not try-hard deep. It doesn't take itself too seriously, it's just a fun little bop (a very basic one, admittedly). Enjoy Your Life, on the other hand... You can just tell that Marina wrote it and thought she had done something. But she hadn't. With those cringeworthy lyrics, not even the most amazing production in the world could have saved this song. 
And that's my main problem with Love + Fear. Marina just shouldn't have tried to make it seem deeper than it is. There's nothing wrong with making "just" pop music. Like, I don't mind Baby, Karma, Orange Trees, Please Don't Call Me... They're nothing special, but they're decent, catchy pop songs. But if you put out an album like Love + Fear and then act like you've written the music equivalent to Freud's Psychoanalysis, then yes, you will get dragged and it will be deserved.

That's just my personal opinion, but I think with her first three albums there's mostly hit singles + filler. Obviously there are some exceptions (I'll always be a Radio apologist, and B'Day has some pretty great album tracks as well), but I think she only really started creating bodies of work with 4. From that album onwards, I think it's probably best to just listen chronologically. 
 
As for 4, there's an "original" tracklist starting with 1+1 and an "expanded" one for digital versions of the album that opens with Love On Top; personally I think the former flows a lot better. 
 
Then, the iconic self-titled album that catapulted her to legend status. Since she released music videos for every single song on that album, I would highly recommend watching them all rather than just listening to the album on Spotify or whatever since they really add a whole extra dimension to those songs. The same goes for Lemonade, although for that album she released a short film and I'm not sure if that's actually available to watch on YouTube. And well, you already know Act I: Renaissance. 
 
She also released some side projects prior to Renaissance that might be worth checking out, although I think they're not essential. And finally, give her live albums a try too, they're worth it. Homecoming/Beychella is obviously iconic and you can watch it on Netflix, and I would also really recommend I Am... Yours for a more intimate concert experience.
