I can see why Justin Parker likes this one so much. It encapsulates so much of that wild, "americana, let's go and explore the endless possibilities of the big unknown with our bad boy boyfriend" feeling that lends it's magic to many of her pre-BTD songs. It's funny. This song is kinda forgotten by the fanbase, because it leaked very early, so we all probably played it to death by now and moved on. But I randomly got the urge to play it again and again today and wow...it's so good. Lana simply has too many wonderful songs to properly appreciate them all. It's overwhelming sometimes, and there is more coming! But this song is something special.

Well apparently after the SNL travesty someone at her label gave her plenty of coaching/lessons.
But also how she does depends on the day/mood, as she said numberous times. It seems to be a mental issue with her, what kind of mindset she is in at the moment, how much is she blocking herself with her depression/anxiety I don't even know what her problems are anymore.
Point is, I agree that she has definitely improved, and she probably had a specially good day when ITH was recorded

Me. And all of you trashing it...the song will just randomly click with you in 2-3 years and you will be stanning. It's the kind of melody that ages well. You'll see.

This composition serves as a resonant message, a poignant echo to reverberate across the spectrum of humanity's wandering souls. It is an ode to the exquisite art of discovering solace amid the labyrinthine corridors of uncertainty, a pursuit whose essence is both haunting and sublime. This song is crafted for those who, in their relentless quest, seek the elusive elixir that animates existence with purpose. It is an anthem for the sojourners of aimless streets, the solitary wanderers amidst bustling crowds, and those enveloped by a pervasive melancholy even in the tranquil waters of apparent stillness.
When she sings "I was lost at sea" I find my entire life encapsulated within fleeting moments, each laugh and heartbreak, every emotion, cascading over me like waves upon a winter shoreline. During the other verses, I transcend to a liminal realm where heavens intermingle with oceans, time halts in its passage, and metamorphosis embraces my very essence. A symphony of emotions collides within my consciousness, threatening to shatter my entire being, yet the experience is one of euphoria and rapture. It feels akin to quaffing a chalice brimming with both sorrow and acceptance, merging into an ambrosial draught.
My heart swells, releasing torrents of tears and love, discarding burdensome concerns, for in this sacred instant, the world's clamor fades to insignificance. This anthem, I hear not as mere music, but as the soul's intimate confessional to its kindred spirit. Within this juncture, I experience a rebirth, shedding the shadowed cocoon to embrace the long-awaited warmth of a sun-kissed existence. My stride is entwined with all who tread this path, a collective journey of courage and persistence. Each milestone reached fills me with profound pride, for the transformations undertaken are as commendable as they are wondrous.

This composition stands as one of Lana's most profound expressions, eloquently encapsulating the enduring presence of sorrow in her life's journey. She poignantly conveys that this sentiment, steeped in longing and nostalgia, remains a part of her even within the context of a relationship. Her foundational human essence is imbued with these emotions, yet she possesses the remarkable ability to transmute them into a exquisite works of artistry and perception.
In this melodic narrative, she strives for understanding, yearning to bridge the chasm between her internal world and the shared reality with her intended listener. Through the prism of sadness, she recognizes that profound beauty has arisen across the tapestry of existence, invoking luminaries such as Picasso whose creative legacy was etched in poignant hues. In the poetic verses of this song, Lana del Rey crafts a testament to the transformative power of embracing the full spectrum of human emotions and transmuting them into timeless works of artistry. Truly, a portrait of resplendent beauty emerging from her feelings of melancholy.

This song seems to be about what is described in revelations. The woman clothed in gold and the man child who is going to kill the Dragon for her (dragon slayer) that has been chasing her and her children. This also delves into gnostic texts about sophia eve zoe who is the woman revelations is referring to. She is the "fathers" daughter and is holy. They used to build monuments to her all over the world, now she is almost forgotten. The dragon slayer is Adam and he is supposed to come back and through his faith save the elect of God and her from the dragon.

Hopefully they did not invite him out of consideration for Lana. With how much she boosted this rat's career, it's only fair he shows her some grace.
