I think everything she wears is very her, things she feels comfortable performing in. Imagine if she performed in the outfit she wore to the Versace show in Milan?
I don't really expect much from her wardrobe in performances, she looks stunning and very true to herself in these simple Lace dresses.
But I wish she would tone down the crazy make-up, something 60's Hollywood Glamour inspired would be perfect.

    (love this thread btw   )

I was going trough MissDaytona yesterday, like I always do when I feel the need to feel closer to Lana.

I really do think she craved for fame back then, but as soon as she started getting it, she got scared and realized it wasn't all she
dreamed of (Ride monologue kinda talks about this)

Some of my favorites tweets from that account are:
    - Left your town to reach a shore that you dreamed of. that shore dreamt of you too with its caffeinated lipstick, cherry flavored cigarettes (this is so her  )
    - sing to me something blue. i want to be made to feel sad by you
and all the others you guys mentioned..

Reading this I can't help to fall in love with her all over again and wish I had a time machine to go back to 2009 and see it all happen and be her bugga baby

IA with you.. even though Bel Air is one of my few favorites from Paradise, Body Electric is the most fluid track imo. Even the "Elvis is my daddy" (which upon first listen I found eye roll worthy) is kind of transcendent - she's saying these are my influences - the people who helped make "Lana Del Rey" and now I emulate them.  I sing the body electric ~I've opened the window to the soul for my audience~ .. "The armies of those I love engirth me and I engirth them" and it's dark so it's like there's something hidden there.. like maybe she resents it or it didn't turn out how she thought...sort of makes me think of the backlash she received.  IDK, the lyrics just seem to fit together whereas the other songs, in comparison at least, seem to be a string of random phrases/ "Lanaisms"

I don't really know how to write this thread but I'll give it a try anyway:

    PARADISE TOUR- GENEVA 05.01.2013

I didn't really know what to think when I woke up yesterday morning, I was kind of afraid of what I was going to find once I stepped in Gevena ( I have never been there and I went alone). I took my first train at 8 o'clock and arrived at 12:00 there ( you take two hours with a car but I had to wait a lot at the railroad station : / ). I knew the arena was next to the airport but I had no idea how we did to get there. After running a lot I finally arrived at 12:20 at the place I'd see the beautiful Goddess later that same day . There were already around 25 people waiting there, it was not as bad as I thought it would be tbh.

I had 6 hours and a half of waiting and I didn't take anything with me, so I only had food and my money ( forgot my phone's charger so I couldn't listen to music a lot). I talked to this girl and this boy a little but that was all. We didn't know at what time they would put the barriers so when I went to the bathroom I run for my life. The security finally put it at 5:30 and there were 9 people in front of me ( there were lots of doors). I almost fought with this Portuguese woman who had gotten in front of me but that only arrived 3 hours after me. When we started going in at 6:45 that bitch slowed me down because she started talking to the security woman, I wanted to kill her tbh.

I run for my life again and when I got there the front was already full but I able to find a place on the right side where there were not a lot of people. I was finally able to push myself between the people and the barrier was the only thing in front of me I talked to this girl and it was cool.

Kassidy started playing at 20:00 and it was really amazing, I didn't know the lyrics ( only some choruses) but danced and tried to sing anyway ( the songs are kind of repetitive so it is easy to pick up the lyrics). The crowd was SO boring. Seriously, I know it is the opening act but you don't go to a concert just to watch it. You go to sing, dance and have fun. When Chris was not singing I waved to him and threw one of the copies of my letter, it fell down outside. He said he was going to ask the security guard to give it to him but he forgot ( the guard gave it to me later). I am really getting into them.

Lana came at 21:00. I though I wwas going to cry when I saw her but it felt so normal to see her, I could imagine myself drinking some coffee with her lol. I didn't scream a lot because I was so in awe with her beauty She started with Cola like always and went down to talk to the fans but didn't come to my side . I didn't really like this performance because the melody was a bit higher than her voice It was still good though. Here are the songs she played ( in no particular order, I don't remember it anyway):
    - Cola
-Body Eletric ( The best one tbh, I died )
    -Blue Jeans
    -Born To Die
-Carmen(I understood must of what she said in Spanish, the music was too loud. She speaks well)
    -Million Dollar Man
    -Knockin On Heaven's Door
    -Summertime Sadness
    -Without You
    -Lolita

    lol just kidding, I wish
-Burning Desire ( there was this fan and she sang "wind in my hair" in front of it. Amazing And her dress went up She had some shorts on though :creyney:
    -American
-Ride ( I am proud I was able to say 70% of the monologue, people thought I was crazy though lol)
-Blue Velvet ( REALLY good performance)
    -Video Games
    -National Anthem
    That's it. No Y&B, no G&M ( my fave off Paradise )

She didn't seem to be shy and said sometimes that how she was thankful we were all there and how she got to see all the fans singing along.

She got down in the beginning and came to my side. I was able to take a pic with her but we both lot awkard so it will never see the light of the day hahahahahah Her face could be a smiley I guess, she is singing and her eyes are half closed ( don't even ask for it lol). I also gave her one of my letters.

She came down in the end after National Anthem and when she passed in front of me I called her and she had the biggest smile ever, my heart actually melt We took another pic ( the basic bitches around me were soooo jelly) ( and she didn't realise it was the second pic hhahaha). I wanted to hug her but I don't think she got it so I kissed both of her cheeks ( OMG I STILL CAN'T BELEIVE IT). And gave her the last letter ( it's sure she will read it now). She thought it was for her to sign so she started but then she realised it was a letter, it was so cute . I don't want any autographs because I travel a lot and I would so lose a piece of paper. I got two pics and the memory that will stay with me for the rest of my life .
Some fans had made flower crowns and she got one. She left the stage wearing it, she looked amazing.
About the crowd now. WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU WAIT ALL DAY IN THE LINE IF YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW THE LYRICS AND IF YOU ARE JUST GOING TO STAY THERE WITHOUT EVEN MOVING AND JUST LOOKING AT LANA LIKE A BASIC BITCH. It got me so mad seriously, I just hope not all Europeans are like this, the people were so boring, they didn't move at all, they just cared about filming it. Lana and Kassidy said we were amazing ( oh, and Hamish is just so hot) but that was only because they have never gone to Brazil, we are wild ). So, if you go to her concert, give all you have, seriously.
We can see the tour doesn't have a really big budget but it is all about Lana for me. just  having seen and sung along with her made my life ( btw, those basic bitches only knew the lyrics to VG, BTD and SS. And you know how she changes the songs when she sings live? Well, nobody apart me knew it apparently so they couldn't even follow her hahahahah). I sang the whole time.

When we left the place I just had to buy myself a huge coca cola, I didn't drink a lot of water because I was scared of going to the bathroom and losing my place. It is not really worth buying the marchandise, it is just soooo expensive and not very beautiful ( except for the book, but I didn't buy it anyway, what will I do with it lol.).
I went to my hotel ( it was in France though) and after one hour I found it, it was in the middle of nowhere lol. The next day I came back to Geneva and took a train home. Geneva is a beautiful city so go there if you can, I know I will for sure!!!
Lana is VERY beautiful, that is all folks!

    Drive/Driving fast:

American - "Drive fast, I can almost taste it now"
Burning Desire - "I drive fast, wind in my hair..." Lots of driving references in that one.
Ride - "I hear the birds on the summer breeze, I drive fast.."
Afraid - "Driving in your fast car looking at the stars above.."
    Driving in Cars with Boys

    American flags

Boarding School - "With American flags on each little finger.."
Cola - "I fall asleep in an American flag"

Americana references are probably for another thread..

Serial Killer: "You can see me drinking cherry Coke"

Diet Mountain Dew: "Diet Mountain Dew, baby, New York City"

[i know there's more, but I can't think of them right now]

  12. Cinnamon Girl liked a post in a topic by YUNGATA in Unpopular Lana Opinions
I don't think it's really that uncommon. I think there's a lot of shame and maybe even fear for a lot of women these days who prefer a relationship which fits traditional gender roles. There's a lot of pressure for women to move with some aspects of the feminist movement which encourage women to not be dependent on men. I've met more than one woman whose tried to guilt other women into feeling bad for wanting to take on a housewife role, or for being sexually submissive. This is part of what I like about lana. She doesn't apologise for what she perceives to be her ideal relationship, even if it creates backlash.

Before Sirens leaked I thought For K Part 2 was about David Kahne, as someone stated previously.

In that facebook-interview (the one where she says "I just thought it was so sad that like, I don’t know, God had found someone so perfect for me and that we really couldn’t be together") she talks about the person she had a relationship with that influenced BTD and she says "we were birds of a feather"

In a Lizzy Grant interview she says
"My producer, David Kahne, and me got along very well because he knew that I lived in my songs, and so he just tried to make them better. He asked me in a letter what I wanted the record to sound like, and I said, “I want it to sound famous, like a sad party.” He thought that was a wonderful idea, and we began working the next day. I like to think we’re birds of a feather."

It's probably nothing, she's just using the phrase to describe different people, but I did used to think that FKP2 was about their (professional) relationship, "Use that voice, sing that song , And tell me to come on, to come on, come on" but this doesn't really fit with For K (or anything else for that matter), still, it might interest some.

I used to think K was Elvis. She's said that she was obsessed with him as a teenager, K is for King, Elvis was The King.
Elvis' body guards were called the Memphis Mafia - gangsters (not literally), and in Gangsta Boy she sings "high school, loved you from the beginning". She's also said that when she saw Elvis for the first time she was blown away by his beauty. In Lucky Ones she sings "everybody told me love was blind, then I saw your face and you blew my mind".
    In
interview (or it might be in part 2) the interviewer asks her if Million Dollar Man is about Elvis, and she says "maybe" and smiles. "One for the money, two for the show" is also a lyric in Blue Suede Shoes. When I googled it I found that the expression "one for the money..." is one used in horse racing, as in Off to the Races. And obviously Elvis fits the description in American "tall, tan/skin so golden brown" although it doesn't really makes sense that American would be about him since she namedrops him. Also, Elvis is from Mississippi (Raise Me Up). I thought that maybe, since a lot of people think she writes each song about more than one person, that she uses Elvis as a base-character and then writes autobiographically around that base... if that makes sense.

I'm sure Y&B is about Jimmy Gnecco (also Radio and Bel Air)

I just read this on wikipedia: "In Nabokov's 'Lolita', the name is used in reference to Mr Clare Quilty, the man who takes Lolita from Humbert. Carmen and Clare being both male and female names, Lolita uses them to deceive Humbert into thinking he is a woman and no threat."
I knew there was a song in Lolita called Carmen

and so I assumed that's where she got the name from. I'm not sure if it's relevant or not (God, imagine if every song she's ever written is just fan fiction about Lolita) but thought I'd share.

And this has been bothering me for a while, in the album booklet it says "Thank you to my devoted managers Ben Mawson and Ed Millett. And to A.G."
    Who is A.G.?

Aw, that is so sweet    So can we expect all the songs involving love/romance on her next record to be mostly about Barrie?
If so, bummer   I really like trying to dig up information on her past boyfriends. If they're all about Barrie, we've got nothing to do but sit here and envy their love.
  15. Cinnamon Girl liked a post in a topic by MermaidTrailerHeaven in LANALYSIS: Relating Songs To Known/Assumed Relationships
I think Y&B is definitely about Barrie. And probably most on Paradise. I think its safe to say they are very serious. See below.

JJ: What’s the most romantic thing that you’ve done for someone?

LDR: When I met my boyfriend… we always say that the entire time we were writing for each other, but we didn’t know it until we met each other. So, you feel like even though you didn’t know the person then all the songs are for them now. That’s romantic.
