2019 Oscar Predictions?
BluVelvUnderground replied to BluVelvUnderground's topic in Movies & Television
To be honest, I want just anything. Anything surprising to happen. This year is a tremendous bore with awards contenders. I would be down with a Suspiria nomination in Picture just on the pure basis of it being out of nowhere and stuff. Hell, a Tilda Swinton nod would be wild, and way more deserving than a couple of the sure-to-be-nominated there. Lowkey hoping Emily Blunt's surprise SAG nod for A Quiet Place is a sign that she could get nominated. That'd be inspired, too. I just hate when they're so predictable. lol -
I'm gonna repost this from where I made note of it on Reddit. But yes, Beyoncé shares a melody with an Iron Maiden song, and I don't think anybody's pointed it out before.

Hey y'all! Little Boy Velvet here! This is my official LB page, where I'll share any of my creative stuff I would like to share at any moment. I've made quite a bit of music, but have mostly stuck to these three (so far) "official" DIY albums. I'm also a filmmaker, currently having done 20 feature-length films since 2010, while also doing short films and video essays on the side. Not all of these are available to watch at the moment, but the ones that are have their titles hyperlinked to where you can watch them. The ones not up will be eventually over time, and I'll let you know via a response when they are, with the hyperlink in this OP. Would love to hear any feedback whatsoever if you get around to watching any. I already thank those on here who have supported my work in the past when I've shared it. You guys keep me going with your feedback and word. MUSICK ALBUMS Abercombie Dreams (2018) pseudoBALLAD (2018) Untitled LBV3 Album (2019) SINGLES Abercrombie Dreams (2017) Tumbling - feat. Norman Fucking Rockwell - Pre-Release Thread

Tbh, I'm gonna approach from this from the point of view of Lana in some fashion and try to make some sense of her. I think the three buzz singles were just that. For the fans. She knows how impatient the vast majority of her fanbase gets. She probably thought it was a good idea, but it's turning out it may not have been. I truly don't think the era has started yet. I think it will in February, but I do agree with some others when they say that the three songs we have (and snippets) are just for the super fans to be in on her process, imo. The actual era and its aesthetics (all the press and the interviews, etc.) haven't really started, I don't think. So in short, I think some are calling her lazy at this point when she's not even doing the actual work yet. I think it's just a complete confusion thrown by way of not communicating clearly what the three singles were really meant to be. I think it was just to be cool. ("Here guys, super fans. Don't leak anything. Love you. The era will start in February.") -

Pretty shocked they tied at the BFCA. That really made it a bit more complicated to predict. But I think Close has SAG locked, therefore the Oscar win. As much as I'd prefer Gaga, if I'm being completely honest (even though Glenn is one of the GOATs.) -

I just find it hilarious because they bitch constantly about how much they hate every new era (or how it doesn't go on par with BTD), and yet are always impatiently waiting for her next anything. -
They'll be announced in the morning, aka, about 10 hours from this post. What're you predicting? Got 82 out of 106 predictions correct. Did much worse than last year. This so hard. Even her haters know she's very prolific compared to, like, many artists and bands. It's kind of sad that she gets that kinda beef. -

Don't @ me anybody, I just love amateur art. This music video suits me. I love it so. Also, her best music video is Video Games, obviously. It's the most iconic, and it'll be watched on loop decades from now. People with even richer taste would say #2 is West Coast, because its iconic in another way. Then we'll say Happiness is a Butterfly, because even if its amateur af, that song will be the lead single from her Grammy hit, so... it'll be remembered. And then, oh yeah, let's all remember how absolutely stunning the MV was for High by the Beach. It convinces you its amateur and lazy, but if you really pay attention to the direction, it's pretty damn clever. -

I think its more akin to the album's Old Money/Change, tbh. Not in terms of comparison of quality, but that stripped-back second from last track. -

I'll put it this way... think of the allusions and symbolism of the sea used in MAC and parallel that coming after those waves sounds at the end of Get Free. -

I don't see Lana as someone who would like a splatter design tbh. I know this is gonna be a neo-psychodella record, but so was UV and she didn't approach that in the design. It's kinda cliche at this point to associate it with the style nowadays. -

I have a feeling the color of NFR will be a red. Think Norman Rockwell's paintings and the color usually associated with his work. He always had that Americana. Most of the time, his paintings had a bunch of beige colors with pops of red, which is why the red rings on her white t-shirt in the video footage has been so darn fitting. -

I wouldn't be surprised if that was the reason for the Yosemite trip and an explanation for the Instagram photos of that Jeff dude. Also wouldn't be shocked if MAC and VB have different videos in this series, and the reason why the ones we got are the way they are is because they were slapped together quickly just to have something up with the "fan singles". Neither YouTube upload says anything about them being official videos at all. -
I wasn't as on-board with Sweetener as most, but I didn't hate it. I'm just incapable of hating anything with "no tears left to cry" on it. That song is fantastic.

"My Favorite Things" interpolated with "Pretty Boy Swag", tbh.

Personally, I agree with the Pitchfork review. https://pitchfork.com/reviews/tracks/ariana-grande-7-rings/ It also helps round off exactly what I was trying to say by how this single has practically, on its own, turned my opinion on Grande's music sour.
