  1. While I know the album is sorta shit on (and I understand, since its a little messy and bloated), L4L truly did show that Lana has matured as a lyricist, and Mariners Apartment Complex and Venice Bitch have proved that she's probably more assured with it for NFR. Oh, and Lolita is absolutely her worst studio song. Seriously, the lyrics are layered as all get out, and the subtexts really turns "this album is for my fans" into horror territory. I thought it was a genius addition.
  2. I've re-listened to it a few times, and I think it totally nails that "surfer rock" vibe she's going for - although still with Lana's signature wall-to-wall hip hop influences. I can see how that sort of thing (and even Cinnamon) can fit on the same album with VB and MAC and not clash.
  3. Here for HIADT having the same archival footage used in Venice Bitch for its video.
  4. After hearing the little snippet of Jack working on the production of How to Disappear, I think that Lana is being a bit frugal with what she's teasing so far. I'm sure she's only sharing demos with us and the actual finished tracks are what she's saving for the album itself. Although, more than likely, HiaDT (that's how I'm abbreviating it) sounds the most possible to be the piano/acoustic ballad of the album, if any, so far.
  5. Funny you say these names, because they are the very ones he mentioned! He said Kanye was major, then Gaga, then Lana, then Beyonce/Jay-Z (The Carters). Something like that in the order. We talked about it last year, so I'm curious if he's thinking of anybody else recently, but he swears that these are the influential pop doers of the 2010s.
  6. Dude really knows his shit, too, and has like 60 years of studying American music on us, so I sorta trust him with that prediction.
  7. One of my professors isn't particularly a fan of Lana's music, but we talked about her (this was for a music cognition class), and he really believes she'll be looked back on as one of the more influential female artists of this generation. He actually swore by it.
  8. Yeah, she's gucci regardless of anything that happens. I just think she's becoming a critical darling now because she's been so idgaf about what anybody thinks. They eat that shit up, honestly.
  9. I'm kinda nervous. I respect her craft and welcome any decision she makes (even if she had emojis as titles) - and I'm sure there's a thematic reason for it, since she's proven over and over again to me great at it. I'm just worried the critics can easily just laugh her off. Then again - if they all remain as palpable as Venice Bitch was, it's possible they could easily welcome her into that club of being allowed to make such crazy decisions since they understand her style now. (I think that's possible, at this point. She's been re-evaluated across many platforms - critics and casual listeners.)
  10. The original titles for BtD leaked: Feet Don't Fail Me Now Take Me to the Finish Line (Let Me Kiss You Hard In the Pouring Rain - You Like Your Girls Insane) Cases of Bacardi Chasers Chasing Me All Over Town - Kiss Me on My Open Mouth Blue Jeans, White Shirt - You Make My Eyes Burn, like james dean fur sure fresh to death sick as canccer It's you it's you It's you it's you It's you it's you It's you it's you It's you it's you it's - All (For You) - Everything I do, honey Etc. etc.
  11. I can totally see this. Might even be a joke just for that Insta post, too, in reference to it maybe being NFR. Edit: I know its not NFR. I'm just grasping for straws to make this title choice logical in some way because I'm confused af.
  12. This is making me further question if she's become the satire of Brooklyn Baby irl -- or if that's really just her.
  13. It's not that ridiculous to expect something to be great based on snippets/clips. People do it with movie trailers all the damn time.
  14. So, I've decided to just go through every snippet so far, since I've been avoiding it, and I'm just gonna say it. This is probably gonna be her most cohesive album since Honeymoon. Maybe even moreso compared to Ultraviolence. I also predict this'll be her most critically-acclaimed album so far, as well. Get that Grammy, girl.
  15. Somebody on Reddit said that the production sounds similar to the MGK clip that was shared a while back, and how they both mention "going fast".
  16. I love you and want Yosemite to happen for you. But please, make your New Years resolution to just grieve that it's not gonna happen. We all did. It's more happy that way.
  17. Out of all these, the only one I definitely forgot to add is Haunted. I considered a few Kylie's though. With No Doubt, it's just a wedge of favoritism missing with a lot of their stuff. Not much into Gwen's solo stuff, though I do like What You Waiting For? quite a bit, but not enough. Russian Roulette's been slowly growing on me over the years, so that could eventually happen.
  18. I'm doing a canon here: https://rateyourmusic.com/list/PaulReese/favorite-songs-canon/ I'm gonna eventually make it with links to each song on YouTube, but I want it to be as complete as possible first. What are your favorites? I definitely need help remembering more stuff that's totally faves.
