What we've done to deserve a treatment like this Thirsty So fucking thirsty Tongue like sand Heart clenched by her hand This goddess makes us wait. Our souls, they ache Our hearts, br oken At the thought of Nor- -man Fuck- ing Rock- well Her poetry through lyric... ... unspoken
  2. I also think it was lackluster, but production always is when its in progress. I can only guess that after playing around with it more, something nice came out of it.
  3. I haven't posted in centuries. But, I'm not bummed about waiting. I'm just patient, I guess (not a dis, I swear, or a gloat, I swear... I understand being upset about all this, I just can't relate.) I think VB, HtD, HiaDT, and MAC are four of the best things she's done, so I guess that helps me be patient. I barely listen to any of them, since I'm also an album person. I just have very little worry about waiting for it because I have a feeling in my gut that the patience will be rewarded with an album so consistent to what these four tracks have insinuated so far. The snippets (most of which I've heard only once) and the country songs (once or twice) all just point to me that we have a great album coming no matter the time of month this year it does.

  6. She basically made us her jazz singers to her cult leader. That power.
  7. I opened this up accidentally on the first page, scrolled down fast, and was like "Wait, Focus just came out? What? Am I psychic?"
  8. banned for making me always think their username is Iggy Azalea
  9. I listened to MAC about thrice the week it came out. VB about five or six times in its first weeks. HiaDT... seriously... only twice. I'm also trying to keep everything as fresh as possible. I can tell this entire thing's gonna be a concept, and I don't want that experience ruined. Oh, sorry... the subject changed. What a beautiful photo.
  10. I somewhat agree. I feel they could be something magical with a studio production and extended runtime. Not always easy to judge a song in its early stages, and especially a live performance of at an early stage. (They're probably not on there.)
  11. I enjoy when they post. They frequently hit the nail on the head when it comes to a lot of interpretations of Lana's doings, and has a rational way about them that comes through without losing the fun.
  12. Also, just a theory to throw around. She could end up starting the album with HiaDT as a way to get the stripped back track out of the way, follow that up with the piano of HiaB, with the latter increasing more instruments into the soundscape. I'm just a sucker for Suzanne Vega using acapella of Tom's Diner in the past, but it'd be a great way to get the darkest song out of the way. I don't know, just a dark horse possibility.
  13. Okay, I'm really starting to think the two country tracks are the 12 and 13 when the tracklist bumped up. That, or we're getting an album with stripped back piano ballads, psych rock, and trip hop in equal measure. A guesstimate for a tracklist: 01. Mariners Apartment Complex 02. Norman Fucking Rockwell 03. In Your Car 04. Cinnamon 05. (something trip hop) 06. Happiness is a Butterfly 07. (something piano with guitar) 08. Hey Blue Baby 09. I Must Be Stupid for Being So Happy 10. (something psych rock-ish) 11. Venice Bitch 12. hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have - but i have it 13. How to Disappear If HBB and IMBSfBSH aren't on there, then I think those tracks are gonna be hybrids of piano, guitar, and psych rock as the album morphs into that. Maybe a few more strings/trip hop like IYC and Cinnamon, either way.
  14. I think there will be a sort of thirds going on - like how L4L kinda morphed from trap/trip hop into trap/folk (and some complete folk), only this one will be piano singer/songwriter stuff/trip hop (like Cinnamon) and piano/psych rock (like VB and MAC), with a couple of pure piano pieces on there. I think the thirds can be (speculative) a country twist somewhere in the center of the album (if she does decide to but those two on.) If not, I think it'll just morph from piano to piano with guitar to piano with guitar and a psych rock sensibility. Her lyrics will mostly be similar to MAC - where they're melancholic and apathetic, yet optimistic and not too depressing or self-concerned about it. I think HiaDT may potentially be the most depressing track, which is why it'll probably be the second to last track (the Old Money/Yayo/Change) of the album - that and they're all examples of being more stripped back than the other titles on their respective albums.
  15. She definitely is, in the way she has referenced songs frequently in the past. The beauty of using that on VB is because of the psych rock elements, but also because of how much power she finds in the "over and over" with the instrumental doing the same thing. I think some undervalue the lyricism of VB. While the first 2 minutes or so aren't necessarily some of her most defined or clever lyrics, they're Lana-ish enough to feel genuine. The real lyricism is in the improv(?) lines she does in the last 4/5 of the track. I think this is also why it's not easy to write the song off as being the lone work of Jack on his own. It's still her fingerprints all over it.
  16. I don't hate it, it's just a strange song to have a Grammy, considering it's frequently referred to as one of the worst by many publications/bloggers.
  17. The Wikipedia page for Lana's songs has HBB and SfBSH listed as being part of NFR, but the only source is that she performed them live with Jack. Is this just a stupid Wiki oversight or has it maybe been confirmed they're on the album?
  18. "In the name of higher consciousness I let the best man I knew go 'Cause it's nice to love and be loved But it's better to know all you can know I said it's nice to love and be loved But I'd rather know what God knows" - Pawn Shop Blues "The power of youth is on my mind Sunsets, small town, I'm out of time Will you still love me when I shine From words but not from beauty My father's love was always strong My mother's glamour lives on and on Yet still inside, I felt alone For reasons unknown to me" - Old Money "Velveteen and living single It never felt that right to me I know what only the girls know Lies can buy you eternity I, I, see you leaving So I push record and watch you leave" - Music to Watch Boys To "But you can still find me If you ask nicely Underneath the pines With the daisies Feeling hazy In the ballroom of my mind Across the county line" - 13 Beaches
  19. GASP! It's almost like it makes it understandable why celebrities have such a difficult time with their fans and often go nuts.
  20. Being constructive and backing an opinion up is better ways of getting new fans to see what you love so dearly about the things they don't like, and vice versa. Emphasis on the word constructive here. What is the end goal of telling somebody they have no taste? How is that even a valid sentiment at all? There's nothing to gain from that other than the smarter kids in the room standing in the corner rolling their eyes and realizing how petty it is.
