  1. Preach. There's so much we could be talking about and discussing concerning NFR that's really good for her. Even with the promo-related issues and lack of communication/promotion, the general buzz on this upcoming album is putting her in a place she's fought her way toward since 2012. She's moving up. Why can't we discuss that? Why can't we dissect why her recent music has done this? Hell, I don't looovee L4L, but it'd be nice to discuss why the critical tides have changed on her after making it. Also, I think one of the more undervalued elements of her three "fan singles" on NFR is the lack of analysis on her lyrics. Some do it, but it's rare in all these 980 pages. It's a real bummer.
  2. Baha Men's "Who Let the Dogs Out?" won a Grammy, for chrissake.
  3. Seriously, all this combating between tastes - whether sincere or jokey - is getting so tired and old that we should all collectively call every song she's done both the best and worst so we can move on. It's pretty immature, especially if there isn't any constructive discussion on why one feels the way they do.
  4. Don't worry, bitches, she'll be nominated for Album of the Year and have to come next year.
  5. It's kinda shocking to me that she won. But I'm not complaining. The Grammys haven't been this inspired in a long-ass time.
  6. Nope. I also felt Demi's "Confident" was pretty blatantly similar to Black Skinhead, too. I don't get this love for Billie at all. Maybe she'll grow on me, but I doubt it.
  7. I had a dream last night that I ran into her at Target. She kinda looked at me, and I couldn't speak. I wanted to ask for a release date confirmation. Instead. She just stared. I stared. She walked away, and then I left to eat at Rally's. <--- basically how she looked at me
  8. Hey Blue Baby really fucking grew on me. Sounded like old school Dolly, only totally Lana.
  9. I know it's just for fun, but the thought of a Super Bowl halftime with Lana is literally making me cry laughing right now. Like, all that testosterone in the arena. All the screaming, being pumped up. The loudness of everything. Then she comes out and performs ballads and benzo-feeling songs.
  10. VB's huge instrumental definitely gives me surf rock vibes, only in a more experimental sense. So far, HiaDT has been the only one that doesn't seem to really click with that group, for me. But I'm okay with that. Old Money didn't really jive with the neo-psychedelia of UV, and I don't know how she did it, but she managed to have Woodstock-era folk with trip hop, doo wop, and trap on L4L. I'm not entirely sold on HiaB being all piano. Just a hunch, but I think it'll be one of those songs that really builds in production as it goes along. I can hear electric guitars accompanying that melody pretty easily.
  11. He was a Christian author and theologian throughout his career, while his later years were more agnostic, but very much a Christian apologist. He's become a sort of hero in modern Christian groups because he managed to bridge Christianity and secularism in a way to where they don't have to give up their faith in a modern world that disproves them. The Narnia series uses the Christian Bible and its stories as the blueprint for its own material. (Aslan the Lion = God/Jesus, etc.)

  13. I just think you're ignoring how old choir boys are.
  14. Once Upon a Time in America is a 1984 film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is named after it and other Leone movies (like Once Upon a Time in the West.) It's a bit confusing. lol
  15. lol - I misread this as being about her cracked iPhone.
  16. Lana Del Rey will go the route of Johnny Cash and make a ton of death-themed Christian-based songs and covers to classic tunes as she gets older. I bet on it.
  17. It may just be my move from the midwest, since they're a bunch of assholes there.
  18. This recent development worked its way into my nightmares last night.
  19. Eh. I moved here 2 years ago and have made a ton of friends and companions. The freeze isn't something I've experienced at all. Neither has my husband or my friend who recently moved out here. Most people I talk to agree that it's just a myth.
  20. My husband has the theory that she doesn't want fame anymore so is trying to derail her career so she can release albums to small groups for the rest of her life. "She's gone nuclear this time because the fans aren't giving up after all the petty shit."
