Chemtrails the song is so fluffing beautiful. Like it gets no better. The melody, her clear and beautiful vocals. Everything.

has anyone ever came across an edit that had the intro to the video on the audio song?

Re-listened to the whole album after a few months and it aged incredibly well. It is very much Lana/Lizzy-esque. It's not even that stripped or ballady as all the twinks complain about. I feel like you have to be narrow minded or immature to hate this album.

    My reaction also :

I can’t wait for THE moment of tracklist posting or preorder announcement. I just want to know the damn release date, Lana.

The history repeats itself yet again. She's serving her Marina "Lackluster+Filler" moment with a 4 year long hiatus followed by a meh album.  See ya in 2023 with a better record.

(I'll still wait for my first listen, though the reviews and your comments don't make me optimistic)

    Wow.

This album, I feel already leagues better than Melodrama and idk if on par with PH but idk why people ain’t diggin’ it…

Also FF instantly gave me The Mamas and the Papas meets the Beatles in the best way possible.

This is definitely a summer album and while the timing of its release is odd… it makes those of us who hate the heat of summer withstand it graciously.

Also not to compare but since both albums came out the same year… while COTCC’s strengths are definitely STRONGER I like this album as a whole better. Idk tho, time will tell but I enjoyed my first listen already

this is kind of /off topic/ but you should listen to fiona apple if you're interested in top notch female lyricism

Same for me. I honestly didn’t have much more expectations for SP than a good summer pop album, and I think it will fulfill that just fine. Lana remains my Supreme when it comes to female songwriting. (Melodrama was, to me, « accidental » in its « genius » lyricism)

    Some of those reviews, yikes

It's not out for me yet, but I'll be lowering my expectations a little

Totally agree with the second part of this, even though I have yet to hear SP yet.

    Ouf that review :/
Rolling a stone gave it a 3.5 on 5. They pretty much all agree that it’s unclear how satirical is Lorde at this point with this record.

Just like him talking randomly a couple words after the chorus in Not All Who Wander Are Lost  I wonder why would he think it would be a good idea to put his vocals in these songs... like, great you are producing them, but, dude, your watermark?

yeah I totally get it, it was hard for me to get into too but when it clicks it’s so so worth it

Interesting ? and true also. I was in awe of her writing on PH, but MD didn’t have the genius touch the other album had. At least, calling the album Melodrama kinda made up for it (as in « maybe I should take this second degree »). Maybe her writing hasnt « grown » really since she first broke out… I guess it’s always the « curse  of genius teenager writer » : Will they keep on growing and be relevant and impressive?

I feel bad for her because she definitely didn't want to make a bad album in order to spite us. In the emails I could feel her passion for the project

I’m waiting for it to drop tonight before listening to it but the amount of melodrama slander in this thread…did not know so many of you were tasteless

anyways, can’t say the criticism of the album is surprising. Rich people singing about their healing journeys and how they’re so lackadaisical cuz life is so ~let’s smoke weed and do nothing~ can only go so far before it reeks of try hard.

nevertheless, I’m still excited to listen. I’m hoping I connect to the other songs bc the singles haven’t done that for me and if I don’t connect immediately to a song, my desire to finish it dwindles.

what are the best songs so far in y’all’s opinion? Also, the fact she went from a critic’s fav to this is

Exactly. Even Billie doesn’t have that pressure to release the « generation’s manifesto ». Although, for Billie, the stakes will be just as high as Lorde’s with her next album.

Someone should ask them about Dealer? Is it in the album or was it scrapped? If so, could they please leak it?
