  1. ok I'll leave this thread before I look like a newbie who knows nothing and I have unfinished uni assignments waiting *sobs*
  2. Right?? And people said it was fake, I wouldn't believe them.
  3. Has anyone asked about Ave Maria? I'm 100% convinced a version with Lana's singing exists somewhere out there, that track is too beautiful and haunting for her to not sing on it!
  4. I need a masterpost on this thread. Edit: thank goodness I saw this comment, thank you @ImenaOphelia for leaving a link!
  5. 30+ pages in the last 24 hours, it's time for me to give up any hope I had on catching up on this thread.
  6. What did boz say, I’ve went back seven or so pages and haven’t seen anything? Edit: ah it was in another thread, never mind then
  7. I’d argue that she is. She’s different with her whisper-y approach, that’s all. But like someone else mentioned earlier too, kinda weird how no rappers are on the list. Since RS isn’t counting lyrics or songwriting to the list, how to deliver lines feels so important and that’s something rappers an hip-hoppers have to consider, right?
  8. Billie Eilish is a big artist, especially to younger kids and I’m certain her music has inspired other musicians - just look at this Eurovision artist who performed a song many thought resembled Billie - but she’s only been an artist for... what, five-six years? And she’s still young, so her artistry will definitely develop into something else in the future, but we haven’t seen much of that yet. I think it’s too early to add her to this list, there’s no doubt she’s popular now and has been for a couple of years, but it’s too early to speak about "originality, influence, the depth of an artist’s catalog, and the breadth of their musical legacy" like the magazine says the list is based on. I don’t listen to her music so I can’t really be a judge, but I wouldn’t say she has a large depth of catalog from the things I’ve heard. (Maybe that’s one of the reasons she’s so low on the list though. Maybe she’s included because she won all those Grammys.)
  9. ah, I should've nominated picosong for something
  10. If anyone need some last-minute suggestions, I nominated these for the awards at the end of the nomination link:
  11. Oh, I recognize her name even though I wasn't listening to her music. :3
  12. I have no idea, maybe because "no one" listened to k-pop back then - I recall that you were a weirdo for listening to j- or k-pop back then, this was before PSY broke the internet with Gangnam Style. So maybe she or her producers simply thought it was a simple thing to steal and no one would find out... and maybe they picked the wrong song, because the original broke so many records in South Korea. I remember that there were no credits to the original producer or k-pop band, and the copy-cat didn't mention that she did a "cover" until fans started to question her about the song lol. I think the video I posted got the "video cover" in the title much later, I don't recall seeing it there before. Oh well. I guess we'll never know the truth but it was fun.
  13. According to their twees, "originality, influence, the depth of an artist’s catalog, and the breadth of their musical legacy".
  14. But I'm at least glad that Ed Sheeran isn't on the list.
  15. Anyone who was into k-pop in like 2012-2015 knows of this one, it's hilarious. Original: Rip-off:
  16. Joni Mitchell #50 Ella Fitzgerald #45 But yeah, I think Michael Jackson and U2's Bono should've been higher up on the list. Jackson has inspired hundreds of artists and left a huge legacy.
  17. Never mind, I’m kinda just waking up and can’t read. <3
  18. I wonder if American Whore will be the next single, haha
  19. I wouldn’t dare walking up to her on the beach, I’d worry too much that I’d disturb her peace. She’s so sweet for taking pics with these fans!
