I mean, I can understand the "children's children" part because she worries about the future and the future that might come generations to come. But parents..? I don't understand. That the parents might worry about their children's future? That the parents are affected by unemployment, health care and such?

Those are honestly the best lines in the whole album. It's like realizing that everything you've tried to reach, all your goals, were not as you imagined them to be. You tried so hard to go there and when you did, you got disappointed and now you've finally accepted the facts.
I instantly loved "out of the black into the blue" when I first heard it. Especially at the end of the song. It feels so liberating for some reason, and then comes the sea birds and the ocean sounds... and it just... beautiful. So beautiful.
let me break down some reasons as to why I love it personally
in terms of the placement, it makes all the difference- it starts off the final three tracks, all revolving around the idea of change. i see it as Heroin being the admission to the problem, she recognizes she needs to change; Change being the motivation, the desire to go- and Get Free taking the torch of desire and carrying it to a promise and commitment to herself & her surroundings.
i love how cold and hollow it sounds, it reminds me of the aftereffects of a heavy emotional scenario in which you or the person that just got off the episode is dying down, cooling off, fairly numb to their senses.
the lyrics are great, not saying LfL is bad lyrically but i personally didn't see many similar stanzas throughout LfL with previous work until Heroin (Love fits too just not sonically). the verses are written so, so nice. the 'Topanga's hot tonight, the city- by the bay. has movie stars and liquor stores in soft decay' the melody works great. plus the amount of one liners that are incredible that hit hard not only in the way its written- but sung.
"I want to leave I'll probably stay another year" to me is a perfect representation of depression, i dont want to be depressed- i want to be happy, but it doesnt seem plausible nor realistic so ill just stay in my current situation no matter how low it'll take me.
"The Rumblin of distant shores sends me to sleep-but, the facts of life can sometimes make it hard to dream" same with above, it reminds me so heavily of my anxieties that can keep me up in the night, no matter how serene and perfect the place you're in physically- your mental state will forever force priority over your emotions.
both Heroin and Cruel World play with her usual aesthetic- but i find Heroin to be more mature, purely in the sense that it uses her natural imagery without sounding like her previous work or relying on her buzzwords- 'party dress' is the easiest comparison. Heroin stays with her vintage starlets and alcohol and drugs whereas CW sounds a little more juvenile in her work, but thats purely because she was coming off of BtD- but extremely depressed, not having fully rinsed her stereotypical lyrics.
with how cold and icy the song sounds and feels, it makes the explosive bridge that much more powerful- having her sing quietly and softly and then yelling loudly is a huge wake up- it's emotional, the notes are shifty- she swears, it's the perfect emotional breakdown. she's leaving what she knows is holding her back-
those are just a few reasons why i love Heroin- def not all but it's a big representation as to why i personally love and relate to it, much more so than Cruel World. Cruel World is a good song, i have general distaste for it mostly due to the countless live performances, but I can guarantee people love it a LOT more just because its on Ultraviolence. Most songs on there that would normally go for mediocre are boosted, just because it has UV instrumentals and was a part of the era.
celebs usually stick to wearing the same clothes/outfits whenever they go out and don’t wanna get papped because it makes it harder to tell what day the pics are from/if they’re not wearing anything new and exciting the photographers get less money for the pics so it makes them less desirable to follow. so either she’s just being normal and doesn’t wanna get papped for obvious reasons, or she’s saving publicity for the tour

If you don't know what the Lipsters Awards are, let me introduce you to LanaBoard's biggest event. The Lipsters Awards 2016 are a forum event made for us, the LanaBoards community, to have a good time and reflect on the big online personalities that shined through 2016. Users nominate each other in several categories, and the winners get announced in our iconic Ceremony, which this year will take place on December 17th.
Enough said, it's time to introduce you to this year's categories. Some may be familiar, some have been revamped, and some are debuting tonight. NOTE: Last year's winner are able to be nominated again except where noted.

Now, well - we all have an incredible taste, if it wasn't this way we wouldn't be part of a Lana Del Rey forum. But there's someone whose taste you adore, and it's time to recognize them. Could be musically, sonically, cinematically, lyrically, mathematically - y'all get it.
And we're introduced to the first not-so-nice category. First of all, do not take these negatively - remember it's all for fun and you're getting an award too so, chill a lil miss thing. Now, back to this title, you all know. Whitin our Elite taste, there maybe be some users whose taste is not that exquisite, to you. This is the category for all the #Lipsters who have any Halsey album on their iTunes library AND listen to it frequently.
This category is probably the one that hits the closest to home here. We love everyone on here, including hoarders. This is the time for you to award that #Lipster who you know - even though they don't brag about it... THAT much - they have unleaked material in their possession (photoshoot outtakes, songs, ROSES not anymore - EMGHWv2) but is still your sister and you love them very much.
Due to circunstantes that occurred this year, we are letting previous winner @Eclipse be able to get nominated again. You all know what I'm talking about.
Hmm... the Blogs section died out a little this year. Nonetheless, it's still part of our community and it wouldn't be fair for this category to be removed. This is the award for the #Lipster whose blog gives you life. It could be because of their heavily detailed sexual encounters, their blog posts relating daily life events, or maybe their song listings you skip to read / never listen to yet you always comment about how good the songs on it are. It's their time to shine.

The Status Updates is probably LanaBoards' most iconic section. Filled with drama and other random things, it's time to award that #Lipster whose statuses are the highlight of your online days.
This award is for all Miss Congenialities out there. Pretty self-explanatory, this award goes to the #Lipster who's always nice to everyone. LanaBoards' Sweetheart deserves to be awarded too.
On the flipside, there are some members who are, well... not that nice (in your opinion). This title will be granted to that #Lipster who is not in a good mood when they post some - or most - of their comments. Do not worry if you get nominated to this, you are also LanaBoards' sweetheart... with LanaBoards in need of a heart transplant.
Previously known as Biggest , some of you may think this category is too similar to the previous one... no. Being a is not being rude, it's being real even if that makes you seem shady. So now it's time to award that shady ! Own your :)iness, sweetie.
Making its debut in this year's awards, this award substitutes last year's Drama Queen. Now, some of you may be asking yourselves - what's being "extra"? Besides having a dramatic behaviour, someone who is "extra" is over the top, blows things way out of proportion and is way too much in general.
That #Lipster who is a LEGEND, whose username reflects LanaBoards history, obviously deserves their own award. This one is for LanaBoards royalty.

I've had a shitty day today so I played Music To Watch Boys to during lunch break to keep my thoughts away. Then I played Ride on Youtube and I haven't heard the monologue for so long. I didn't look at the video. I just listened. It's so beautiful. Her voice was so soothing and you could hear emotions while she read. Her voice was like a mix of Lizzy Grant and Lana if that makes any sense, I know it probably hasn't changed but it did feel different compared to, say, Burnt Norton.
Anyway. I just listened and interpreted her words into my situation and just felt like things may not go as you hoped for all the time and if I somehow ruin this, there's always a second chance and something else I could do. Imagine just letting things go and start over, somewhere else and be happy. And doing whatever you want to do. Be free.
I know it's not realistic, but it did comfort me in a way.
