Hi, new here. I don't expect to post a lot but I really just wanted to add something positive in the mix. 
I've been a fan since 2011 and would never have expected to still be so invested in her by 2023. All her albums have been such amazing entries in her catalogue, it's incredible how prolific she is and how the quality is always up there. 
That said, I feel like this new album is her best, and to those who want to dismiss that opinion by saying "Oh that's just initial adrenaline" or something patronizing like that, it's not. 
I enjoyed her previous 2 a lot but they didn't match my absolute adoration I had for albums like "BTD", "Honeymoon" and NFR. This one definitely does match those for me. It's such a wonderful journey from beginning till end, it feels like one big warm yet emotional hug and I love the diversity. 
I'll post a ranking after I heard the album in full HQ friday, I haven't heard CN yet. 
I just wanted to share the love for this album, cause it deserves it. 

this has been said to death but A&W's instrumental (especially the first part) is one of her most beautiful everrr  the swelling at "doesn't really REALLY matter" orgasmic. the build up and release before the second verse  literally insane. the xylophone tinks in the third verse  the collapse. and with her melodies overtop DAMN its just soooo good im obsessed 

What is life but a constant alternation between pre and post releases

‘Fingertips’ is not a good song or a big song but it definitely explains everything. I felt like that was important because everyone was always like [whispers] explain yourself. And I was like, ‘Okay, let me do this really quickly, I’ll tell you everything I’m thinking in two minutes in a seven minute song and just rip through it and edit it.’ That song kind of says it all. Between that song and ‘Wildflower Wildfire’ on Blue Banisters, you can get a lot [whispers and laughs] of everything.

I think the biggest lesson that I’ve learned is that there is no lesson in these hard lessons, you just have to let it go. Not everything is going to be revealed as to why weird things happen. However, I do have a theory that if you’re trying your best and you’re willing to let go of things that you feel don’t serve the greater good of your value system, then I think you’ll always be in the right place at the right time. If you’re teetering on the edge of doing something that’s against your value system, it’s like, be careful of where angels fear to tread, they might not be able to reach you.

I agree with people being insane as fuck and weird but I don’t see how is it a reason for Lana to stop making music.
 
I’d personally LOVE her to keep releasing stuff as much as she wants to. 
 
No offense to the anxious community but if people start becoming obsessed and anxious because of an album, it’s their fault idk.

You guys it's literally release week (of the best album ever) and you're fighting about the most random stuff. This thread has been off the rails with negativity and squabbles. We have finally arrived to the moment we've all been waiting for!! Embrace happiness, it's worth it 

That part of the Gigwise review that said some reviewers missed out entire tracks while going to the bathroom tells me everything we need to know about the integrity of music criticism. This isn’t an album that is easily digestible or catered to today’s frantic attention spans. It asks for time and open mindedness - which makes it the more rewarding the more time you spend with it.
 
It’s also kind of boring to see so many users still acting like music is divided in either beat-driven bangers or boring piano ballads and nothing else in between. A track like Grandfather is nothing alike Sweet or Paris Texas (for instance), they represent different things, go for different sonic soundscapes and even have Lana delivering different vocal performances. It can be a different frustrating to see people reducing this album to this or that when chances are it’s far richer than whatever box you’re trying to put it in. Give it time to sink in and wash over you. There’s an entire universe in this record and it’s a fascinating one, whether it entirely works for you or not.

Thinking about how fired up this album is making people in this thread and it’s not even out. Her power.

In my opinion, I can see why this album could be 7/10 or 8/10 for some people. Is it because the album is not good? No, it's actually the opposite.
 
The album is great, but it's different. It took elements from her past albums, such as eerie vibes, melancholic and rich production, beautiful vocals and confessional and wordy lyrics. It's the perfect middle ground between raw but polished. Something that, again in my opinion, Blue Banisters failed to. 
 
This album is not easily accessible for those who don't go in with an open mind. Those who think know who Lana is, realize they don't actually know after the first few songs. She is not your average manufactured popstar, she's a human being who also happens to be an artist. She's fragile, clumsy, honest... She talks about her personal life in a way she hasn't before. She doesn't need metaphors to hide the truth; this time the truth is just revealed as it is. 
Her past is dark, her experiences were traumatic, but her future seems to be brighter. Or at least, that's what she hopes for. 
 
She's not making music exclusively for the critics, nor for the fans. The music is for herself. It might allow her to heal, to move on from her trauma. Even if you listen to the more upbeat songs, they're not your average "bops", they also hold some truth in them.
 
The album is deep and heavy. Some of the lyrics are hard to analyze without getting a headache. Some are about love or heartbreak, some about family and friends... but they're different. They're about HER experiences in that field, not a song you could easily relate to unlike many others songs about the same topic. That is, of course, unless you've been through similar experiences.
 
It takes more than one listen to fully understand what's going on. Like I said, if you don't go with an open mind, you might not enjoy it. And that's fine. Maybe the album is not for you, maybe the "new Lana" is not for you.
I understand we all have different opinions, but to say something is bad when you haven't given it a second chance is... rather disappointing.
