So Terrence is David Bowie (nee:Jones) brother who inspired David to get into beat poetry and beat authors and American rock and roll
and who was schizophrenic (double personality) and hospitalized around 1970 and who committed suicide in the mid 1980 jumping in front of a train.

The song makes now, total sense.

    Cooler than cool.

This has to be my favorite of the releases so far. I've always enjoyed these kind of jazz-influenced/alt tracks more than her catcher stuff. She really has a knack for creating these sultry/dreamy atmospheres with some of her slower songs. Honeymoon had only a couple of listens from me and I like the High By the Beach music video more than the song itself.

I've always been a very melancholic kind of person and I think this is what she is going for on the new album. The mood seems to be more of the focus here rather than lyrics and structure, something that I feel was not concentrated on her other albums. It's what I like to call "solitary music". Music that just fits the contentment of being alone. Music that you want to play when you're at the beach or laying under a tree or riding on the bus through the city. Sometimes it's just nice to take a walk or go somewhere to be alone and....think about things. Maybe that's what she going for. Or maybe not. It works for me that way, at least.

Anyway. I think it's pretty clear that she's not reverting back to her Born to Die sound. I feel like there was so much influence from the label during that time than Lana herself. I mean that whole marketing was so overblown and I think she kind of got tired of that, hence her more stripped back appeal now in both image and music. Even the album itself with it's pop appeal was largely because of the label. Paradise showed hints of that departure. Both Ultraviolence and the songs of Honeymoon show that she has more creative leeway than before. She's handling the promotion herself - which she doesn't seem to mind. I think there's less distraction from people who were trying to polish her and she's more comfortable doing what she is doing. And I think regardless of the polarizing reaction to her recent material, she'll still continue doing what SHE wants to do. If she can get through the slew of criticism from journalists than she can get through the criticisms from her fans just fine.

I fall off my chair from shock every time I see a positive comment, seriously some of you guys are vicious

Okay, I get why you could dislike the cover. She's really tiny and it's definitely a change of style compared to the previous covers. However, I appreciate that she has chosen a different perspective this time, the "looking poutily into the camera" shit was getting kinda repetitive imo though it wouldn't hurt if you could actually see her in the picture. Personally I also really like the text on the truck which y'all seem to hate, I don't really know why but it gives the cover more ~personality~ or whatever you wanna call it.

Most importantly I love the way she's been promoting this album, especially the glimpses of the process she's shared on the honeymoon account and the GENIUS Honeymoon Hotline which is so funny, innovative and just adorable. It all feels so personal and I'm really happy that she's actually involving us this time, something I have missed in the previous releases. She really seems to care about this album, and that makes me look forward to it so much more than when she acts all indifferent.

I can't really say much about the songs we've gotten so far because I've only listened to them once, but I definitely liked Honeymoon and High By the Beach instantly. Terrence Loves You almost had me in tears at first listen and I can actually see it becoming one of my favorite Lana songs ever.

Sorry if I'm being overly positive and delusional but I can't help it, I'm simply beyond hyped for this album.

Srsly tho Honeymoon Hotline is a genius idea!!! Here's to Lana coming up with innovative ideas to promote the record !!!

The guitars in the beginning are a nice start imo but when her angelic voice apeared I was like   she sounds SO hauntingly beautiful in this song !! Seriously, when she sang I lost myself when I lost you I had goosebumps all over my body and I remembered why I once fell in love with Lana.  The bridge was also absolutely pretty.

However, I strongly dislike the vocal layer parts in the chorus, it just sounds odd and random. And it is such a huge waste that they didn't make some instruments last longer than 2 seconds.

TLY is really beautiful but I'm not quite sure if it won't lose its magic sooner or later for me...

    All these news

Sooo... I can't really get into that cover. I like the way she is dressed but you can hardly recognize her. She also looks kinda chubby tbh   Her head is just so small and that bus looks huge in comparison. Whatever, the other pics are gorgeous, it seems to be her thing to use the worst picture as the cover.

The track list got me absolutely hyped !!!! I'm so happy that we will get to hear MTWBT and Swan Song after all these speculations in the past.

Right now I'm just super proud that promotion isn't a complete mess this time.  September 18th can't come soon enough

I think it's a bit weird not seeing her in full frontal for the honeymoon cover as it was on the past eras  maybe that fact has a meaning or something maybe not

Every song on the album (except Burnt Norton and DLMBM) is over 4 minutes. What kind of dream

That drives me mad. In High By The Beach it's the same thing with the piano which lasts for like 1.5 seconds

    Lyrics

Spoiler You are what you are
    I don't matter to anyone
But Hollywood legends will never grow old
    And all of what's hidden
Well it will never grow cold

But I lost my self when I lost you
And I still got jazz when I've got those blues
And I lost myself when I lost you
And I still get trashed darling when I hear your tunes

But you are who you are
I won't change you for anything
    For when you are crazy
    I'll let you be bad
I'll never dare change thee to what you are not

But I lost my self when I lost you
But I still got jazz when I've got those blues
I lost myself and I lost you too
And I still get trashed baby when I hear your tunes

I put the radio on hold you tight in my mind
Isn't strange that you're not here with me
But I know the lights on in the television
Trying to transmit can you hear me

    Ground control to Major Tom
Can you hear me all night long
    Ground control to Major Tom

But I lost my self when I lost you
But I still got jazz when I've got the blues
I lost myselt and I lost you too
And I still get trashed honey when I hear your tunes

    Mmmmmmmmm...
    Mmmmmmmmm...

Idk if its the black name that's wrong with Terrence Loves You, for yall or what. But what's wrong with it? It sounds cute to me. I see nothing wrong with it. Idk how that's a bad name? Lots of songs have the name of the lover in them.

Even if it turns out to be Paris loves you, that's fine too. They sound like super cute titles.

I don't think she was joking, but if she was, at least Lana was showing some emotion instead of being deadpan.

I hope its real! I feel from the title that I will love it.

So I finally watched when I got home from work so I could properly share my opinion on this one.   First of all I love how was made to look like it was shot in one take. This particularly scene is one of my favorites of her videography, it's stunning:

From this scene to the climax of the video ( taking down the helicopter) it made the video totally worth it.   Other than that I still think the beginning a little odd - like it was improvised or she didn't know what to do. While this has a clearly message towards media and her privacy I wish she could've been a little more explicit about it. The headlines and gossip magazines could feature some of her photos or she could see some of her photos already posted online and then she would freak out and get the gun, this definitely could translate the video for a wider audience that can't really understand what's the meaning behind all this.

I love this transformation from submissive, needy and masochistic cry baby to revengeful and bloodlust Amazonian that grabs destiny in her own hands and clutches god by the balls. Sooo refreshing in contrast to her usual imagery. I am glad this is not overly produced, ultrapolished, fancy-schmancy grandiose video, because she already had ones, and also that it isn't flippant, sloppy and hermetic jerking off like Ultraviolence (ok, I don't hate that one, I just state that this overshadows Ultra, although it is as much as simple). It is something brand new, crazy hybrid between Tarantino action and Dogme 95/home video/Steve McQueen seventies/Larry Clark/documentary/voyeuristic  shaky camera, and you can feel that this kind of filming is deliberate. And it is masterfully delivered, because your site is really narrowed in suspense and you feel the excitement and vehemence of the action. Even slow parts are thrilling. Speed and poetry in one. And there is an excellent use of color (azure blue of vast ocean and bare, luminant crinoline of the sky), and frame from the balcony seems cosmically wide –that is the greatness of the vid also: the contrast between tight, claustrophobic tubes of villa halls with her rush like mercury through them and magnificent freedom of the big blue nature principles.

Although Shades of Cool have very strong visual metaphores, such as Lana in 3D illusion, stabbed by a sword, or gun pointing at her, bullets flying, flowers softly exploding, and magical amalgam of gem-like colors, like ruby, royal blue and mystic violet, this is much more cohesive and that Scarface shooting and explosion in the sky is like her initiation into whole new dimension of existence, personal (spiritual) and artistic. Enough experimental and intimate ("indie" formally, so to say) yet enough cohesive, articulate and charged, or should I say, blessed, with (almost) unexpected, brilliantly depicted culmination and message hidden in it. That climax is like her awakening from the nightmare into pure white bliss. Thousand orgasms from me.

And yes, she is so cute, funny, vulnerable and human in that scene of her gown being stuck, and the fact that we see her in different emotional states and in physical movement (running, stumbling) is a breezy shift from her gloomy, elusive, mysterious and impenetrable poutiness of a diva. I adore that expression of healthy rage and determination on her face. So complex, soulful and relatable. She creates a powerful space for catharsis.
