I think Afraid's a pretty underrated song (well until I read Monicker's essay). Whenever I hear it, I have to stop whatever I'm doing and really focus on the lyrics. Her vocals sound really emotional and heartfelt and I like the fact it's not perfectly produced, it's still a bit raw.
  2. SoftcoreBabyface liked a post in a topic by Hello Heaven in Lana @ a Football Competition in Liverpool (Anfield)
She had a little interview aswell:

Why are you at Anfield today?
I was introduced to Liverpool FC by my manager, Ben, whose mood is dependent on the Liverpool results. I love watching Luis Suarez play.

What are your first impressions of the city and the football stadium?
It's actually my second time in Liverpool but my first time at Anfield. The people in Liverpool are so friendly and the stadium's really impressive.

Are you a football fan and have you attended a match before?
I've not had the chance to attend a game before but I've watched Liverpool on TV before. It's great to actually come to Anfield.

Liverpool supporters will be delighted to hear you are at Anfield today and will want to know if you are now a Liverpool fan?
Yes! Liverpool are my team but I also support Celtic in Scotland, who are my boyfriend Barrie's team.

Got this via the website (liverpoolfc.com)
  3. James19709 liked a post in a topic by Hello Heaven in Diet Mountain Dew (Final and Demo Versions)
I thought everyone prefered the demo. I do prefer it but I feel like the album version's underrated and I still think it's one of the best on the album.
  4. delreyfreak liked a post in a topic by Hello Heaven in Yayo
I can't believe they're destroying it! Yayo is such a special song that everyone can connect with even if it has no relevance to their own life and that trailer park, it looks like such a typical American mobile home that you see everywhere but it's got such a sweet, dark story behind it which has had a massive impact on Lizzy's music influences. Obviously, she must be happier with her lifestyle now but I bet she'd be upset if she found out that this is happening.
There's something really nice about living in trailer parks though, I used to have one by the seaside with really trashy arcades and a fairground and all that. I can just imagine Lizzy sitting by her window listening to the trains go by at night, daydreaming about Jimmy

I don't know whether I'd be totally creeped out/disgusted, satisfied that he's a Lana fan, be happy to be in bed with Lana too or all three
  6. delreyfreak liked a post in a topic by Hello Heaven in Sleuthing Tips & Tricks
Oh god, this is so useful. I found that newspaper article interesting, never seen it before and I like that it mentions 'Lana Rey Del Mar' and I'm guessing that's where we got the story about Kill Kill's title change?
I use the google ones a lot, there's literally no point in living without google. I also sometimes use the youtube screencap trick when I need to which sometimes makes private videos even more painful
  7. fl0ridakil0s liked a post in a topic by Hello Heaven in The M tattoo poll
I voted for her gramma. I wouldn't be all too surprised if she got it for mike but her and mike weren't massively serious, right? And I don't think lana's dumb enough to get a tattoo that she could regret in no time and use her gramma as an excuse.
  8. delreyfreak liked a post in a topic by Hello Heaven in Which Song on Born to Die Are You?
I guess I'm an individualist but I was pretty convinced I'd get one of her more submissive songs
  9. delreyfreak liked a post in a topic by Hello Heaven in Azealia Banks Not Okay With Gay Men Using the Word 'Bitch'
I also cringe a little when people do this. I mean, it's literally replacing the word 'woman' with 'bitch' as if that's some sort of substitute which is really degrading, even if it isn't at all intentional.
  10. delreyfreak liked a post in a topic by Hello Heaven in Lana’s Fib About Her Age-Some Thoughts
Awesome stalking there! You've really thought that through. And, c'mon, it shouldn't be a big deal but there's gotta be a mysterious reason why she's lied about her age. I mean, why would you bother if there was nothing to hide - it's only one year younger but I so want to know what happened in that 'missing' year.
  11. fl0ridakil0s liked a post in a topic by Hello Heaven in The K-Pop Thread
K-pop is a genre that's really worth getting into imo, there's some really great groups and the songs are so catchy. I hope there's more fans on this forum

My favorite group are Brown Eyed Girls, they're not like most k-pop groups - they have a more sophisticated and sexy image. FINALLY after over 2 years they've made a comeback
Some videos (I actually really like their videos, they're usually really dramatic and deep which is weird for a k-pop group  ):

Sixth Sense: This is from their fourth album (w/ the same title) and it's actually one of my all time favourote albums - so jazzy!
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4IVVvOAq5WI

Abracadabra: This is better for people who are more into pop and dance, such a good song.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofwFr8o8p0Y

Cleansing Cream: weird title but such a sad video
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nM-aHjWjoM

Kill Bill - they're latest single and inspired by Kill Bill
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tyBTH3hCyWo

My second favourite group is definitely Orange Caramel. They're a sub-unit of After School but I actually prefer OC, they're so cute

I finally accepted my music taste is completely dried up so went on a downloading rampage last night which included all 3 VW albums, which are getting quite addictive. I've never been bothered by indie bands cos they're all pretty same-y and I'm more into female soloists but VW have something about them which stands out from the rest.

May as well chuck it in here too because of your profile pic, but after years of wanting to "understand" Bjork (because her fans are always going on about how innovative and creative and beautiful her music is and I've just never quite got it) I finally downloaded 7 albums which I'm gonna work my way through.

I agree, this should be pinned. This thread's been really handy for me so I think it would be necessary.
  14. Hello Heaven liked a post in a topic by Pluto in Music (& stuff) people like that you tried to get into, but can’t
As If is terrible if you ask me.   VW's third album is way more mature than their first two. I think Contra is my favourite.
  15. Pluto liked a post in a topic by Hello Heaven in Music (& stuff) people like that you tried to get into, but can’t
I'm just gonna trust you and download their whole discographies tbh because it's been years for me. I really like a few Vampire Weekend songs but I've just never been bothered to get into them, especially since male vocalists are quite a rarity for me.

And Sky's As If EP has been on my iPod for ever but just this last fortnight I've become obsessed, I never bothered in the past because I'm not as keen on her later stuff but the same thing happened with Lana when Video Games was first out, plus Charli XCX and Marina & the diamonds who are now 3 of my faves.

I'm literally drooling over this thread, jesus. For YEARS I have been *nearly* starting a collection but from experience of other collections, I have a horrible habit of committing myself to owning everything.

    So all I have is;

Born to Die (Deluxe Edition) Paradise Box Set Paradise 12" Vinyl Ultraviolence Box Set Paradise Tour poster And then various advert clippings (like for H&M and album releases)

You'll have to get it somewhere like Amazon or eBay but from what I've seen, you'll be looking at spending around £100 - possibly more
  17. YourGirl666 liked a post in a topic by Hello Heaven in Overrated Lana Songs?
Perhaps a bit of a negative spin on the underrated LDR songs thread but I think we need this thread tbh (praying it doesn't already exist).
Just for the record, I love or at least like every one of Lana's songs but this is the first one that comes into my head...

    Pawn Shop Blues.

I mean, I like it. The lyrics are sweet but I always secretly have to hold myself back from skipping it on AKA because it just doesn't really fit the mood that I'm in when I listen to the album. I think people obsess over it too much, I don't know how you can like this more than some of the other songs on the album.

Wow, there's something really appealing about a lot of these, and when the over-the-top, psychedelic style is pulled off, it's very striking, which you managed to do. Gods & Monsters, Cruel World and Dark Paradise are probably my favourites, although I love the image you used for Pin Up Galore, faded with the waves because it really reflects the atmosphere of the song.
  20. PrettyBaby liked a post in a topic by Hello Heaven in Favorite Lana Boyfriend
None of them. But I've kinda been a Blake shipper for a long time now. If I can't have him, she can - that would be cute seeing them perform together, plus they'd never have a long time apart because they'd be together when she tours too.

    I mean, come ON?

    I guess it's artistic telepathy

I like Tropico too, because it hasn't got obvious and familiar elements, it's all summed up in the mysterious Lana under the veil: it can represent Virgin Mary, but the color indicates sin and indulgence of the middle part. And heaven is for both intro and finale.
  25. delreyfreak liked a post in a topic by Hello Heaven in Lana's Contribution Cut From Brian Wilson's Upcoming Album
I was actually devastated when I heard about this because The Beach Boys are a childhood favourite of mine, I'm actually seeing them live this year, so I was really looking forward to the collab - especially since we know the band are an inspiration of Lana's too but now I'm just really not hyped for the album
