  1. Lana relocated to London to be closer to her management and lives with Mawson for a couple of years. During this time period, she appears on MTV singing "Chet Baker" with Mando Diao (

). Lana begins directing homemade music videos for demos of new songs and uploads them to the Internet.

Wow I did not know this, is there anymore to the story about her moving to London and what she did there?

  2. I think Lana's song will be in next week's episode?

Here's the AHS thread: http://lanaboards.com/index.php?/topic/2726-american-horror-story/  It might be the more active thread for awhile until they air Lana's song.

Trying to decide whether to get into this show... guess I'm a little behind already :tsk:

Watch the show from this season if you want. You don't need to watch it from a particular season as each one begins and ends and they're finished. The cast are the same (near enough) in each season but the characters and story line change with each one.

  3. Don't know if anyone care but now that I've listened to the album a lot, I can finally leave my opinions on it properly.

I've definatley warmed up to her working with Dan Auerbach, but I still definatley prefer Rick Nowels producing for her.

I do enjoy both versions of West Coast, but Rick Nowels production is so much better for me, and this is a great example of why I'd rather have her work with him as we can see how the two producers have produced the song differently and Rick's is better for me.

Old Money is my favourite song off the album and Dan Heath produced that, although the other songs he produced for her are not my favourite apart from Yayo, so I'm not too bothered about her working with him for producing her songs.

The Other Woman is another favourite of mine and Dan Auerbach produced that, so it proves for me he can produce the style I like, but I'd prefer it if Lana stuck to working with Rick Nowels for the majority of her work, but I do love The Other Woman and the production.

I also love Brooklyn Baby and Shades Of Cool which are both also produced by Auerbach so again it proves he can produce the songs that will fit my taste

    but

Cruel World, Ultraviolence, Sad Girl and Fucked My Way.. didn't click with me as quickly as the other songs and to be honest I don't love those songs like I do the others. I do enjoy listening to them still though.

    So for my conclusion...

My favourites are - West Coast (Radio Mix), Old Money and The Other Woman and almost favourites are Brooklyn Baby and Shades Of Cool.

For her next album I'm hoping to hear that Lana works with Rick Nowels for the majority of her songs and I like to see her work with Emile Haynie again as my favourite songs are produced by these two, and West Coast is a clear indication for me that I prefer Rick Nowels to Dan Auerbach as the main producer for an album. I'd still be happy for Lana to work with Dan Auerbach again though as he produced some of my favourites of Ultraviolence.

  4. I agree.  She makes me swoon.  And I'm not a swooner.  :delish:

Having only been a fan of Lana since May, I didn't see the SNL performance when it came out.  (And I don't have cable, so I never would've seen it anyway... plus, I don't watch SNL anyway... heheh)  I saw videos of more recent performances before I ever saw the SNL videos, but even so, I did not think the SNL videos were bad at all.  I thought she sang quite well, actually, despite being nervous.  She just didn't have much stage presence.  In that department, she has improved by leaps and bounds.

Oh, and you may have noticed in the SNL video that she changed "shit" to "shoot," since she was on national TV... :)  Though "bitches" stayed as it was, since that word is allowed on TV now.  But "shit" is the normal lyric.  I do remember one European performance I saw where she changed "bitches" to something else, possibly a word more appropriate to the country she was in?  I just can't remember what it was now.

Yeah I think that was more the problem, that she didn't have much stage presence, I mean she is 'different' to other pop singers, so that didn't help I imagine as people didn't know her well. The hate she got though she definatley did not deserve. At least now she is respected.

  5. I agree, she is magnificent. :)  But, from what I've been reading, it seems that "The Man I Love" might be fake, fan-made... hard to say.  It sure sounds like her!

I liked her SNL performances, too!!  She did seem nervous, especially in "Video Games."  But she was not pitchy, contrary to what other reviews said.  Her intonation was good (and I have perfect pitch, so I'd know :)  ).  In "Blue Jeans," she got a bit to close to the mic when she said the word "Burn..." it came out as "Walked into the room you know you made my eyes BBBURN."

By the way, her SNL videos are still on Vimeo:

    Video Games:  http://vimeo.com/80513813

    Blue Jeans:  http://vimeo.com/80513814

Wow I remember when she got slated bad for those performances. There good as well, it must have been more a shock to see her the way she performs as it probably would have been the first time seeing her live for most people. I suppose the way she goes from low to high notes is quite different to experience from a pop singer, and the way she carries herself on stage.

I loved it when she sang the line 'But shit at least you tried' in Blue Jeans, she doesn't sing it like that usually.

  6. When is she supposed to say "we can plant our seed" in BBY?!? Sounds very misheard to me xD

    Maybe I've double missheard haha.

I also mishear in 'Children Of The Bad Revolution'

Instead of 'Partying's our only solution' I hear ---- 'Partying down in solution' which I thought sounded pretty good.

  7. Will you even be in France? It's not in October, it's next Monday lol

Arr no, I'm so upset, people have been writing on here that its October!! I was gonna save and go......

  8. National Anthem: I know what it's supposed to be, and perhaps it's the IT guy in me, but I keep hearing:

"See what you've done to me / keep your server on"

    Haha, thats funny.

I always mishear a lyric in Brooklyn baby where she says. "We can plant our seed"

I hear: "Was blind now I see"

  9. Her vocals slay without....

Seriously though I don't think she really needs them, when I seen her on tour her voice alone was enough for the show. I suppose If I was to really think about it, there may be a few songs where I think it might help to have backing vocals. But considering most pop singers now sing with a lot of back up its nice to have a singer who doesn't use it at all.
