With that in mind 50 people from 29 countries got inspired and made letters, poems, drawings,...
From November 2012 until March 2013 these people accepted the challenge and shared their talents.
Funny ones, serious ones, heartbreaking ones and surprising ones. The world spoke!
50 Works of Art came in and were published in a book - and was presented to Lana at her Paradise Tour 2013 in Helsinki, June 16!

I actually hate the dailymail, they make entire "news articles" around 1 or 2 photos. They just describe (often incorrectly) what she is wearing and repeat it over and over again using different words.

It's a gorgeous song. I play it often in the morning when I'm just out of my bed. It gives me a warm feeling and makes me happy.
And it gives you also the feeling like Lana is standing next to you when singing this song.
She feels so close but there are more songs where you feel her so close. What a voice.

SO, I don't know if I will get killed for making this thread and stating what follows but I don't care.
1949 is one of my favorite Lana songs. It's one of the only ones I don't ever get tired of listening to or singing to. I just love it. I know that Hawaiian Tropic+1949=Every Man Gets His Wish, I love them three, but 1949 is just so beautiful...
Anyone feels the same way? Anyone knows anything on the background of this song?

1949 is cute and simple and it definitely deserves an appreciation thread! Thank you

1949 is absolutely one of my most favorite LDR songs! It just feels so classic and so human. It makes me feel like I'm truly experiencing a journey of two people through the lense of someone else. I love very dreamy songs and 1949 is very dreamy.
 
I definitely agree it has a basis in Lolita. Particularly the lines of "jailbreak" "we're gonna see it all before he says goodbye." There's also that obvious an older/younger binary in the relationship reminscent of the story.  Motels, traveling, and the simple material pleasures of life, it's a very fun song with a melancholy feel (How, Lana, can you do that?)
 
I think that Mermaid Hotel (another one of my all time favorites) has a very similar feel to it in regards to the relationship dynamic although its melody and beat is very different. It is also, in my opinion, told from a less "childlike" perspective while still having that same sore of dreaminess to it.

i wouldn't be surprised if barrie is leaving though, can't blame him for wanting to spend some more time with lana. 

Lana and Barrie both had some busy times and I think they just need some time together.
They're people like you and me and they also need some rest and free time sometimes.
I don't think they'll retire. They just need a break.
