Tbh I am VERY excited about Lasso but Lana doing a country album feels so bizarre right now. Like it would seem like a very natural progression for her to do a pop LFL type album right now based of her aesthetic and everything. 
 
Like the fact we aren’t about to get an album called Queen of Hearts with collabs from The Weeknd and Tommy Genesis is lowkey crazy

i don’t think she is. i think this is just a natural progression of being literally everywhere for the last few years, to the point that she feels inescapable even offline (she’s on buses where I am).
 
people just get tired and things that were popular then switch to ‘overrated’ and we all know how fun it is to say you hated something first on the internet!
 
for a long time saying the tiniest thing about Taylor that could be misconstrued as negative rallied the swifties, so if the tide turns everything people have bottled up over the last few years is just going to come out. 

Im still not « over the moon » with this new project TBH, but at least she posted Henry, Come On before announcing it was a country LP coming next. I really like what we heard so far, so I’m not « scared » . Plus it sure was coming at some point, so it’s not really a surprise 

I’m not a big fan of country either but I think Lasso will sound more Americana than « traditional country ». She already has songs that sound like this : Riverside with Barrie, the official version of SYTH, Breaking Up Slowly, Nectar of the Gods… I’m curious about the project since she’s been cooking it for four years (which translates to me that the songs will be strong) 
country sure is big in America and GP will eat it up.

I really like this interpretation. Not that she she necessarily has a clear vision of things to come for her next albums, but there is a sorta pattern so far, in her discography: she has two major landmarks, two albums that defined the American culture or read that said culture : Born to Die and Norman Fucking Rockwell. Norman was preceded by the «transition album », an album for her troubled times. Ocean Blvd is also a transition album, one that helped her grieve. See where I’m going with this? Lasso could be her third Best American Record.

I think Lasso absolutely is a track. She’s never not had a title track! I also think the album is still named Lasso because of the western themed chat last week that had a heavy focus on lassos

That Camila performance was clearly set up to promote her newest single, but I wonder if Interscope is the one who suggested it to Lana. Kind of find it hard to believe that she was Lana’s top choice for a guest spot.
