  1. Change = Bartender = Yosemite These all feel like equivalent songs on their respective albums, no?
  2. I love that she respects and values her art so much that she doesn’t do this just for cash though.
  3. Of course, Video Games would be a taurus baby. I can't believe it's been 10 years. Lana still feels like that new, underground, up-and-coming artist to me
  4. I'm glad it's not just me! I agree, it is a good song. I find the verses to be pretty and enjoy the melodies, it's just once the chorus comes in and I'm like: But I guess that dichotomy is what Lana was aiming for. Happy for you, truly
  5. Does anyone else have a love/hate relationship with Cruel World? I like the song, but I have to be in a specific mood for it, and I'm very, very rarely in that mood. Most of the time, it just feels so obnoxious and seems like it whines and drones on and on and on forever. Even 10-minutes-long Venice Bitch feels a lot shorter than this song to me. I'm very much a person who listens to an album from start to finish, so I usually just suffer through it every time I listen to Ultraviolence. It's probably my least favorite opening track. Why is it called "Cruel World" anyway?
  6. Do you guys think Chemtrails should’ve been called White Hot Forever instead? Or is Chemtrails better? Or Something else?
  7. yes and what about it? I stand by what I said.
  8. 1) thanks for this 2) remember when we thought she was going to retire after BTD/Paradise/TROPICO?
  9. Hoping this album continues the recent trend of Lana having a bomb ass psychedelic song on the album (like Venice Bitch and Tulsa Jesus Freak). Easily two of my favorite songs she’s ever done and the best song off of their respective albums.
  10. Lana really said, “y’all hated the LMLYLAW and COTCC covers? Just wait!” Rock Candy Sweet was a better name imo. But honestly, either way, I don’t care, I’m just happy a new album is actually coming. And of course, release date on Fourth of July. I love this Americana bitch
  11. I’ve never felt this mixed about an album ever. First day, I really was disappointed and disliked it. Then I listened to it nonstop for a week. Now I stick to my favorites and that’s about it. It’s weird, I like the songs when I’m listening to them, but I just find a lot of them forgettable. I’ve found since the beginning, I tend to skip the last 2 tracks, which only leave 9 songs left. I tend to skip LMLYAW too. 8 songs left. Tulsa Jesus Freak, Chemtrails (the second half of the song with the two melodies mixing into each other - wow, just wow) , and Breaking Up Slowly are my absolute faves, in that order. I like White Dress but tend to forget about it till I come here. Wild at Heart makes me picture a black and white western movie/musical scene in a bar with Lana dancing on tables and making a “scene” with the entire bar joining in and singing along with her, having fun, for the last chorus. I like that - something that fun and lighthearted is a rare thing to picture for a Lana song. But it feels semi-uninspired basically reusing the production of How to Disappear. I rarely skip Dark But Just a Game, but again, very forgettable for me. I like Not All Who Wander, but the lyrics are super cliche and weak imo. The harmonies are gorgeous though. Yosemite is really pretty, but again, forgettable. And that’s it. That’s the album. It’s weird. I like it, but I don’t. I find myself singing along to it a lot and enjoying it, but I also still don’t feel a connection to it? Again, I’ve never felt so mixed about an album before. I’ve also never felt so disconnected from a Lana album before.
  12. I can't believe how fast the hype for this album died after it was released. A year and a half of buildup and immediately, a dive off the cliff
  13. Breaking Up Slowly is one of my favorite songs on Chemtrails, so I’m looking forward to seeing what this is all about. I’ve never heard of Nikki before Chemtrails and still haven’t listened to her otherwise.
  14. WHITE DRESS - 92 CHEMTRAILS OVER THE COUNTRY CLUB - 15 TULSA JESUS FREAK - 33 (+) DARK BUT JUST A GAME - 30 (-) WILD AT HEART - 45 YOSEMITE - 6
  15. I really was disappointed with this album on first listen, but now I can’t stop listening to it. I find myself really enjoying just zoning out and singing along to it.
  16. Why do I love the random snippets of the guy’s voice in Not All Who Wander Are Lost so much?
  17. Venice Bitch Bartender Happiness is a Butterfly Tulsa Jesus Freak Born to Die Off to the Races Blue Jeans Video Games National Anthem Summertime Sadness Technically, VB, Bartender, HIAB, and TJF were tied for first place, while the rest on the list were tied for second place. Not me spending 45 minutes on this wish it would’ve included AKA
  18. My ranking: Tulsa Jesus Freak Breaking Up Slowly Chemtrails Over the Country Club Wild at Heart Not All Who Wander Are Lost White Dress Yosemite Dark But Just a Game Let Me Love You Like a Woman Dance Till We Die For Free
  19. Well even with me not connecting with COTCC, I finally tried listening to JB’s new album and based off the first few songs, it sounds absolutely juvenile and makes COTCC sound like the best thing ever created.
  20. I definitely think 81 is a better score. NFR is significantly better to me. To me, NFR is absolutely no skips and pretty much a perfect album. Venice Bitch, Happiness is a Butterfly, and Bartender each, on their own, blow away anything on Chemtrails except maybe Tulsa Jesus Freak and Breaking Up Slowly for me. Even though I enjoy the melodies and harmonies, Not All Who Wander Are Lost is the most uninspired I've seen Lana in her lyrics. I also enjoy Wild at Heart, but the fact that she basically reused the production of How to Disappear also ruined it a bit for me. Even though Chemtrails has grown on me, I'm having a really hard time connecting with it - which is a problem I've never had with any Lana album. Even Sirens, I connect more with, so it's not even like I can theorize that it might just be the stripped down production not doing it for me. I recognize objectively that COTCC is good, mature, and more refined then a good amount of her past work, but something about it just isn't clicking. Lana's music has always felt custom made for me, but COTCC felt like when I listened to folklore and I was like "I can see why people like this, and I might like a bit of it, but this just isn't really my thing. Objectively, it's good, but it's not for me." I've NEVER felt that way about Lana's albums and it's lowkey driving me a bit mad that I feel this way about Chemtrails.
