A long stalled project because i'm bad at finalising things and compiling them. I think this album is so amazing and infinitely inspiring, what I really wanted to show was Lana Del Ray. The transition between Lizzy Grant to Lana Del Rey. I feel like the defining look of that is Lana in the short film Poolside. She looks insanely good there. All the images of Lana used in this packaging are screencaps from the short film which I have retouched and further edited to make look like official photographs and to improve the quality greatly for print. I used the official cover art as a main inspiration because I think even though it's very low-tech it still has a great atmosphere in it, so I wanted to create something similar. The atmosphere in this album to me is very noir-ish, so I chose to use all grayscale images in the booklet, an effect with sunken highlights which makes the images feel quite sultry.

Gatefold LP 12” Vinyl. 
The blue vinyl is the only striking colour here. It's a nod to Lana's homemade videos and her love for party store toy aquariums. It's the opposite to the yellow I featured prominently through the album design.

I've been working on this on / off for so long! Please tell me what you think and be sure to find any lyrics corrections because it's inevitable I probably messed something up!

After making out with an orange I'm kind of happy with whatever she puts out, in forms of music videos.

I really don't understand this. I feel like a lot of people have the general consensus that Born To Die is her peak. And they want her to rehash and replicate the music, the videos and the promotional trail. How boring would that be.
 
we have the music, we have the great videos, we can watch them any time. High By The Beach was sooo different upon first listen, Lana hasn't released anything like it before. and now the video, she has done something we really haven't seen from her before (whether you like it or not, is up to you). But she is clearly evolving changing and trying new things and it's so much more exciting to be a fan of somebody who isn't just a one trick pony.

This video was cool, it was different, and it was very Lana. It obviously isn't MEANT to be this cinematic fucking masterpiece like Star Wars -- it's supposed to send a message.

I loved it! It's very simple but entertaining, I bet Lana had a fun time recording and for me that's all that matters  . Also I can't believe some people are "dissappointed" because "it won't help the song commercially". Excuse me? Since when does Lana and this fanbase care about the charts? Chill.

Yeah,especially lining up with the idea that she wrote this song during/right after the BTD era. The "never brought into your bullshit when you would pay tribute to me" could be referring to UV's critical acclaim because it was somehow more "authentic" because she was toned down and miserable. Which kind of give me high hopes for Honeymoon Lana to be BTD like high glamour, high production with a side of "call me fake if you want, fuck off"

I loved it though. She looks great and glad she's kicking ass this time. It seemed the common throwaway insult/jab last time around was she is always the victim, etc so glad to see she is turning things around.

Damn, that house is super close to the road. And it's totally not gonna survive rising sea levels, ha. It's really sandwiched between the road and the ocean. Reminds me of a hotel my wife and I stayed at on the coast near the border between France and Spain last year. On a related note, I think she'd really like my house. White walls, lots of windows with wood frames and wood railings, a bit minimalist. C'mon Lana, you know you want to do that private house party for LanaBoards regulars I always fantasize about.   
 
The gun in the guitar case is very Desperado. I got very excited for a minute about the idea of her playing a guitar until I realized that big fucking gun had to be in there.

NEW: HONEYMOON

 

I'm scared for the production of Honeymoon. Haynie's BTD production wasn't perfect and overproduced at times, but it was lush and exciting. Auerbach production was sparse at times but it sounded really organic and coherent. I'm worried Honeymoon will have uninspired production and have the worst qualities of each era sonically. I'm not really a fan of Honeymoon song production (to be fair we've only heard 10s) as it sounds so worryingly similar to WFL and LiB and its simply so generic Lana (strings, layered vocals). I guess we need to hear more to identify her sonical themes for Honeymoon.

Good that her producers are talking more about her work and how she is backstage (as a professional/songwriter/etc)
