Y'all read this thread. This debate is so tiresome.

This artist was viciously and unjustly attacked for years for the most misogynist of reasons - it's understandable why she's sensitive to criticism, especially ones that allude to a disproven conspiracy theory about authenticity and appearance. It's very telling for me that she received such significant criticism early on and now - when she releases her most overwhelmingly acclaimed album - suddenly, there's a narrative from music journalists that she's been immune to criticism. Quite revisionist. That said, I think it's best when she continually lets her fantastic music do the talking in disproving the early criticisms.

What? There are many films, books, etc. that touch on devastating subjects without endorsing them. Lana has given a voice for oppressed women through her work and I don't see how this video is any different. You can see the pain on the character played by Lana's face.

Well said. To add to this, every producer she has worked with has commented on her independence in the pre-production writing process. It's also made quite apparent by the perpetually-present lyrical motifs and themes in her work. The misconception that her LDR persona was her first experimentation with "dark" and "cinematic" themes has been particularly stigmatizing in this regard.

Also, "Need you baby, like I breathe you, baby
Need you baby, more, more, more, more
Need you baby, like I breathe you, baby
Fucking need you baby, more, more, more more"

She's being sarcastic/sardonic in response to this quote:
"I listened to that Lana Del Rey record and the whole time I was just thinking it’s so unhealthy for young girls to be listening to, you know: 'I’m nothing without you.' This sort of shirt-tugging, desperate, don’t leave me stuff. That’s not a good thing for young girls, even young people, to hear"

Her new IG post is a moment in Lana history. Wow, I've never heard her speak about her art so candidly (and in such an articulate manner).

I almost never post here these days, but I have to say that I cannot believe this petulant child has the audacity to come here and act so flippant - and adversarial towards a mod - after stealing and spending nearly 9,000 dollars. I think it's especially reprehensible considering how young some of the people who had their money stolen are.

I think if you were truly determined to pay people back, you'd stop spending money foolishly and work to earn back the 6,000 pounds. I don't know what the statute of limitations in this particular situation is, but I'd advise people here to not fall for this lip service and apology tour. If you want your money back, you need to take this to the authorities. This isn't a petite theft situation...it's 9,000 dollars scammed from children and young adults.

I hate her for that BTD production slander after spending years talking about how it was perfectly crafted. I think she only ever hated the TIWMUG production, IIRC.

Didn't she previously say the production of BTD ended up EXACTLY how she wanted it to sound? fsjknf

Either way, the baroque pop meets trip hop production is iconic and was instrumental in altering the sound of popular music for an entire decade. I wouldn't have wanted anything else.
