    the production was a disappointment for me tbh (i wish there were more backing vocals or that it went...anywhere suprising), but i am SO HAPPY that lana is writing lyrics that are different than usual. when i first heard the title i was like oh no, not another love song!!

     

    but the melody and message of the song really move me. i feel like this song speaks to the current zeitgeist. it reminds me that even in these crazy, overwhelming, harsh times...even if your life isn't what you thought it would be...simplicity and love and living in the moment can carry us through.  :xcry:

    I know this is a complete mess but there's no need to scrap the entire album, what an overreaction in my opinion. It's disappointing the song has leaked, yes, and I know it will be more work, but instead of scrapping everything, why doesn't her label just release things earlier?? They've already invested $$ in this so they may as well just push their release schedule/promo strategy to earlier dates.

     

    thank you. why should the entire fandom be punished because of a leak? i would be sincerely disappointed in lana if she refused to release the song. it's really unfortunate that the song leaked but there's still a video and an album that didn't. all is not lost.

    why should she scrap the whole beautiful album just because some idiot leaked her song. It isn't logical. She shouldn't abandon her art for something so silly. I think the best thing to do is to just hurry up and release it already. It'll give her fans something to talk about and discuss and therefore people won't be as thirty and ready to go leaking everything..

     

    100000% agreed, but this is lana we are talking about. it's hard for her to move past stuff.

    i NEEEED those rich whores rehearsals--"me and my boyfriend" and whatever the other ones were. the fact that someone is hoarding them makes me die a little with jealousy.  :icant:

     

    i'd love to hear an early version of OTTR. 

     

    i hope we get more laptop demo leaks (well, i hope there are more to be leaked!), they are so mysterious and interesting.

    oh PLEASE. Abnormal time ? maybe for impatient 12 year olds, Lorde hasn't released anything in almost 4 years, Gaga also released Joanne 3 years after ARTPOP and y'all think a year and a half is a long time without new music ?

     

    it's abnormal because it's presumably already finished and we haven't had any sort of official announcement. i mean, the music video was filmed LAST SUMMER. 

     

    i agree that it's not a long time to wait between albums, but if it is on the verge of leaking then i don't get what the hold up is.

    when lana records an album she needs to transfer it into a usb and then stick it up her ass so no one can leak her stuff anymore

     

    yes. . .but half the fun of being a lana fan is that eventually everything leaks. js.

    don't really know how you figure that. she worked with a producer she felt was safe, didn't promote, had no controversy unlike w/ultraviolence, etc... it's clear to me she has been playing it safe because she doesn't want negative attention. the reaction to her SNL performance will always haunt her and it's unfortunate.

    this idea that "mature" music has to be a slow-paced snoozefest is ridiculous. go listen to "from the choirgirl hotel" by tori amos who was 35 when it was released. it's a mature album but it's not boring and one-note. go figure!

     

    i would never expect lana to make music that i could shake my ass at in the club or even want that. but she's afraid to go outside of her comfort zone and we all know it. it would be nice for her to push some boundaries again or at least make an album that has some variety in it. she's capable of it.

    Moreover, the new lyric from the demo is at least interesting wrt this interpretation. That is <<Fresh from the shore, blonde hair is white, the ocean makes me cry>> suggests negative affect wrt the ocean, which is an astounding thing for LDR to say, given how much I think she likes the beach and the ocean. 

     

     

    i see it more like this:

     

    she's gone to the beach to make up her mind about leaving her relationship. the second half of the verse/the chorus is lana on the beach (i'm in love, lying in the sand), coming to terms with this decision. 

     

    you're right in that she loves the beach/ocean--that is the spot she has chosen to go to when everything else is falling apart around her. i don't think it's a negative association with the ocean making her cry. the ocean evokes strong feelings from her because she has a connection with it. she's also emotional from having to end her relationship while knowing it's what she has to do. it's bittersweet.

     

    the theme reminds me of "pawn shop blues" where she is still in love with the guy but she knows it's in her best interests to leave him (in the name of higher consciousness/i let the best man i knew go). 

     

    i truly don't understand the second verse's meaning, though.

    I don't see this discussed often, so I think mine could be considered an unpopular opinion :

    I don't like how Lana's face has changed in just a few years. Yes, she gained weight, but I can't attribute her face change only to that. And don't tell me that it is due to aging. Aging can't affect a face so much in just 2-3 years and plus when you're in your 30's.

    She's been doing someting else (cheek fillers maybe?) and she needs to stop doing whatever it is. She could be a lot more beautiful instead of getting puffy cheecks and a swollen face in general.

    I mean. Her face in 2012-2013 was perfect. Just perfect.

     

    I don't get why some Lana fans don't accept that she was prettier before. It's just an undeniable fact that you can see with your own eyes. She doesn't look as fresh as she looked like only 3 years ago.

     

    And I don't like how she does her hair now. I liked her long wavy\a bit curled hair. Now she always has an ugly middle part and don't let her hair down as she used to, but goes for an "housewife" look, with those side locks. Lana let them grow long, please.

     

    Musically I think she's perfect. Obviously few songs are not my favourites, but all of them have that vibe that connects all her songs. I basically only listen to her released songs, old songs, and unreleased ones. That's what I have on my Ipod. 200+ Lana songs.
