Honestly the song has a whole longing feeling to me "We can go back to New York" like she saying we could go back we could go back please "I would do anything for you babe" but, even if she doesn't know it, it's over. It wasn't meant to be but, she's still holding onto it so tightly. I don't know. I hear so much angst in this song. Not really even in the way she sings it but, the lyrics alone. It's almost like she's pleading for that insane thing they had but, it's not reailty. It is more like a fantasy, an idea now.

That's just what I hear though.

I don't see why Lana would need to change the name. We all know that anything she says/sings sounds like silk so even if the person was someone named Greg or Allen whatever, she would make it work with the song. It is interesting though that she could have just said "he" taught me that rather than a name but, it wouldn't tell as much of a story.

Ultraviolence is obviously about a toxic relationship that both people are addicted to. Because, while Jim seems to be abusive it sounds like she was no better saying lines such as "He used to call me DN, that stood for deathly night shade" doesn't really paint a picture of someone who's nice. Obviously they're both crazy for eachother in the worst way. This song is seriously dark just like she promised. She literally wants to run back to him she can't keep that feeling away she wants it back she wants the Ultraviolence. The crazy toxic life they had together. It's almost like a drug that kind of feeling.

That's just what I think of the song though personally.

I'm so glad I was right about the Alleluia at first I thought it was LA, New York. Kinda sounds like it could be that but, then I closed my eyes and really felt it. I love the chorus of this song so much.

Your heart, women in the summer. Part with your lover. Maybe something...leave. Suddenly you leave IDFK. Jesus Lana that bridge what the hell are you saying girl? lol.

Anyway she's definately saying something in the bridge like whole sentences because, I can hear the sylables.

At first I thought that she was saying "You are unphaseable" in the chorus but, it's obviously "you are unfixable".

And is it possible the second verse is my baby lives in shades of cold? I mean it might be gold but, it's definately something with -old at the end. Cold makes scene though cold/cool.

My baby lives in shades of cold, cold heart, cold hands, and aptitude.
    Just a thought.

Blessed is this union. Crying tears of gold like lemonade, is what I hear for sure.  And yes pretty sure it's comprende these white lines as well. Though I have no idea how anyone would get the use of cocaine out of that. Maybe, Idk I'm even more confused by that line now.

Also it seems in the official she changed Jim to he once of twice. Interesting and again, EVEN MORE CONFUSING.

I could have died right there, cause Jim was right beside me. Yeah, this has to be a person. Maybe even someone we don't know?
Supports my theory that she'd take anything this guy has to throw at her. He's basically all she lives for.

Jim taught me that, loving him was never enough. Maybe meaning that he wanted more from her and she didn't know how to or something along those lines. And I think it's a pause because it's a song it's not two different statements.

She also says I would do anything for you babe.
When you'd do anything for someone you're in too deep. I know this feeling. It doesn't matter how you're treated you just want to make the person you love happy.

I love you forever, I really love you forever.
She does still love him she'll always love him no matter what he says or does.

There's some lines in the song I can't quite make out though. "We can go back to New York, cause loving you is really hard. We could go back to the time, really don't know who we are." and then I have no idea but, that's what I hear and I think it's at least close. (Who was she with in NY again? Wasn't there someone?)

Anyone know what she's saying in spanish and also speaking? It sounds like Yo soy su princessa (I'm your princess) and then I again have no idea.
EDIT: Yeah I think it is la not su, so she's saying I'm the princess? I would make more sence if it was I'm YOUR princess but, oh well.

Can't wait to hear the studio version and find out what the whole song lyrics are!

I kinda posted something similar in the Lanalysis thread but, I really think Jim has to be a person not really a metaphor. The name is through the whole song I don't know if say Jim Beam could be that important that it taught her, lifted her, was beside her. I mean of course it's possible but, the emotional attachment to the name just seems too human to be to be something like that. Jim Morrison maybe but, from what I hear she dated a Jim correct? And there's also another person in her life she refered to as Jim once.

Also she says "Jim taught me that he hit me and it felt like a kiss" this sounds like someone she's known for a long time "Jim brought me back, reminded me of when we were kids" futher supports this hypothesis. I don't know too much about Lana's past but, whoever this is she must have known or, at least it was someone that was very important to her. It sounds like someone who taught her many things and above all things love, and perhaps obsession. It really sounds like she's obsessed with this toxic relationship she has. She also says I would do anything for you babe. She doesn't care that he wasn't good to her she just loved him to death. She probably still does considering this song.

Also it sounds like she was toxic to him as well (I said this before but, it's important) I mean you don't really call someone who's nice to you deadly nightshade or poison ivy obviously she wasn't any good for him either. There's more than just physical abuse of course. There could have been many different reasons.

I know it's really demented but, when I hear "Jim raised me up, he hit me and it felt like true love" it literally to me sounds like she's being picked up off the ground or grabbed something of that sort. The fact that she says he hit me and it felt like true love is because, she doesn't really care what he does as long as he's there with her she's so madly in love with him that she'll take on anything to have him. That's "Ultraviolence".

She also said that this album is autobiographic. Is...that a word? Whatever, anyway I really don't think the focal point of the song his name is in it too often, is just a metaphor or a ficade.

This is just how I personally view the song though. I hope one day she really explains it in detail.

    Hmmm.

    Unreleased:
I really love Serial Killer because, it's easy to play on guitar and a great metaphor. I mean I doubt that she was actually a serial killer it's obviously a metaphor for something along the lines of being obsessed with someone which is evident in a lot of her songs.

Prom Song Gone Wrong, Gogo Dancer, Never Let Me Go, Driving In Cars With Boys (demo version) some of my other favorite unreleased tracks from her.

    Born to Die:
My favorite on her debut album as Lana Del Rey has to be Lolita. It's a great jam to shake your booty to and it got me through a lot of dirty dishes when it was time to clean house. I really love the idea of the song as well. It's dangerous and obviously we all know what a Lolita is and that she's referencing the book she was so in love with. Which makes in even more awesome.

Dark Paradise, and Blue Jeans make my top three but, I love the whole record.

    Paradise:
I'm obsessed with Body Electric and if you are too maybe you did the same thing I did and googled the meaning of the term.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Sing_the_Body_Electric (if you're curious) it's yet another reference to a fantastic writting piece.
I also love the references she makes in this song. Elvis, Marylin, Witman (the writter of the poems), Monaco (a lux place) it's just so beautifully written.

American, and Gods and Monsters make my top three but, the whole thing is fantastic as well.

    Ultraviolence:
So far my favorite is Ultraviolence but, I've only heard the live version. It's dark like she promised. Shades of Cool is also amazing but, I'm not in love with West Coast although I do like it. I think I overplayed it and it will come back to me when Ultraviolence comes out.

Also everyone sorry for my stupidity I really am. I knew the song was hers but, I guess I don't know all of Lana's styles of singing etc yet.

I love this video so much it's my favorite music video of hers by far. I love the concept, the artistry, the direction.

Lana looks so amazing and natural and real in this video. She does every movement with such class even just eating a strawberry. She's so careful and beautiful ugh, I wish I had an inch of sex appeal she does. Even when she's dancing it's just magic. Please have mercy on my soul Lana I can't take how good this one is.

I was just listening to one of mine well, I think it's my favorite by far Goodbye Kiss originally by Kasabian. I'm even going to learn how to play it on acoustic it's a beautiful song even the original. So I'm curious, what are everyone's favorite covers Lana does?

I know of a few. Heart Shaped Box, Blue Velvet, Once Upon A Dream, End of the World (no studio version and that kills me), Summer Wine, and Chealsea Hotel No 2 (Amazing)
