I'll say this, as an extreme introvert, a sensitive person, and a creative type, and frankly kind of a selfish asshole: All that tortured artist shit goes out the window in the real world. Save it for the studio, save it for your journal, save it for your canvas, because nobody gives a fuck about your emotional needs outside of those places. It hurts, and it's hard, and you won't make friends with everybody, but you won't win. Lana should know this by now, and honestly, if she doesn't, she needs better handlers who do. It's nice to say "she's not cut out for this" but she wanted this kind of fame, did she not?
 
You can't be on Kimye wedding levels of fame and screw up half of your press. Even Kanye can get through an interview unscathed once in a while. I really feel for her, but how many times can we blame the journalists for doing their job too throughly?

This is so self indulgent and flowery and ultimately meaningless, but there's something funny about the way people who like Lana relate to Lana.  There are stans who get really annoyed about young women who feel a connection to her lyrics, calling them tumblr fakes and try hards, etc, but rail against music outlets who call Lana herself a fake try hard. That's not related to this at all but it made me think of that. Just that idea of "The only person who's allowed to be disillusioned is Lana! She's the only one who I'm comfortable with having these specific feelings and damn these girls for twisting her message for their attention seeking fantasies. I think Lana is deep and little girls  can't be deep."
 
Not that Lana fans are the only ones guilty of this  because marina fans are even worse

There is no such thing as a fake fan. We all like things because we think they're cool, or they make us happy, or they're associated with something that makes us feel good. Sometimes I think that Lana is not for young girls, but then I remember what I was listening to when I was twelve years old, and I have to let it go. Lana's for anyone who likes her or likes her clothes or whatever. None of us loses anything as a fan if somebody else likes her for what we think is the wrong reason.
 
It's not the young teens that are the problem, it's journalists exploiting and degrading Lana to bolster some point they want to make.

The parts about it being a ~rough relationship~ = Jimmy Gnecco, the cult leader line = The AA guy, and the fact that Jim Jones is a famous cult leader = Icing on the cake. Everything she writes is personal, but that doesn't mean that she speaks straightforwardly about one situation for an entire song every time. All writers combine experiences and situations to create songs or stories.

IMO, Black Beauty is definitely, definitely about Barrie (see here) as well as Is This Happiness. I think they both reflect Lana's struggle with trying to hold things together with Barrie.
