Visit Fordham University's Rose Hill Campus where she attended college. Listening to "Fordham Road", wander through the Bronx (careful, it's a "bad neighborhood"!) on your way there and see if you can find the cheap coffee place on Valentine or the "stone Mary in the garden". On campus, stop in to the McGinley Center there and check out the ballroom where she sang at a fundraiser. Cross campus to Rodrigue's Coffee House in Alumni House where Lana played several gigs (including her first known gig and another one the same night as the fundraiser). Get caffeinated imagining Lizzy singing "Get Drunk" and "Pawn Shop Blues" here while playing acoustic guitar.
Visit more venues where she performed in her early years. They're all listed in the Early Shows section. (Keep in mind that some venues have closed or moved since then. I've tried to list the original addresses in the show threads when possible, but I'm not sure it's 100% accurate.) Explore her Williamsburg stomping grounds at night listening to "Oh Say Can You See". Wander through alleys and look at the bars.

Visit the trailer park where she lived, Manhattan Mobile Home Park at 4828 Tonelle Ave. in North Bergen, New Jersey if it hasn't been demolished yet. (It doesn't appear to have been based on Google StreetView photos from December.) Take the Lincoln Tunnel which inspired the "tunnel lined with yellow lights" lyric in "Yayo" as you take yourself "from this dark trailer park life."

Definitely visit Coney Island. Walk down Mermaid and Neptune Avenues. Eat cotton candy and explore the boardwalk while listening to "Mermaid Motel". Ride the coasters and the Wonder Wheel. Stick your toes in the sand while listening to "Kill Kill". Lie in the ocean singing her song. Check out the aquarium before you go. Come back for the annual Mermaid Parade.

You might also consider traveling down the Jersey Shore to a couple similar boardwalk destinations, Seaside Heights, where I think she wrote "Trash Magic", and Wildwood, where one of her classic photo shoots was taken.

And if you're really hardcore, consider a road trip to beautiful Lake Placid, where she grew up.

If you do any of this please take pictures and post about it!

Honestly though a big part of the reason why I'm excited about this is just that she remembers her songs... She still appreciates songs like Us Against The World, YCBTB and Serial Killer - she's not just forgotten them. It's just really sweet to know that she still listens to her old unreleased stuff just like us and she still sees potential in them and wants to do them justice. She really is a true artist.

Probably they are jamming studio recordings because Lana wasn't there. I can't find a purpose on rehearsing all those songs if they are not going to perform them. Also this tour is random too. It's not to promote Ultraviolence nor Honeymoon so she can't continue with the same songs all over again. And fans have been asking for those unreleased.
I really hope that setlist is true! Serial killer, Off to the Races and Brooklyn Baby omg!!
Too bad for us Europeans we will see these songs only on YouTube

    @ sorry for tha delay

    - I thought the HDB demo was distinct enough to add here

    - Same, this one is really cool with the National Anthem speech after Puppy Love bc JFK themes

    - I decided Playing Dangerous was less dark and more...vulgar darling naughty idk. I also like the Ride monologues more with this addition, flows better

    - Kinda made this work, for now

    - I don't think this one is ever budging, how sad

Steve Buscemi and David Lynch should produce the album tbh.

That's an interesting point, and it does sound like a real parallel. I haven't read Lolita (yet) so undoubtedly I miss out on a lot of the references like "light of my life, fire of my loins." Nevertheless, I think Lana's lyrics are a lot of mixture between reality and fantasy. Little Girls is from the point of view of the little girl, who is asking this guy to put her in 'a movie.' She is actively seducing this guy with her sly insinuations 'come on you know you like little girls' and 'you can be my daddy.' From what your post says, it seems that Dolores was asked to do this child pornography and didn't want to do it. Maybe it's an inversion - Dolores begging a man to put her in a movie. Considering Lana's references to sleeping with guys in the industry (probably not for favors, imo, but she's talked about it enough for it to be worth noting), I don't think Little Girls is just a retelling of Lolita. It could be her drawing from multiple sources, mixing something she or someone else experienced with one of her favorite books. In one interview she says that the verses are "based in reality" and the chorus is "fantasy." Now, she says a lot of contradictory stuff, but she said this about both Video Games and West Coast on two separate occasions, so maybe there's something to it.

Honestly after the promotion campaign of her two last albuns ( Paradise and UV) I don't expect too much from her when it comes to this. For Honeymoon I just expect her to continuously support her music by releasing music videos. Lana is truly a visual artist so it was a really let down how she handled UV as a whole ( I love the visuals....but only 3 videos for this era?). Even if her label didn't want to release more singles ( which is not the case since they released both Brooklyn Baby and Black Beauty and supported with remixes) she can do her own videos. BTD it wasn't a hit at first in US but she keep supporting the project with videos and see what happeened. I just expect this kind of compromising for this new project

Countless? Nah. West Coast and Ultraviolence - a few times, yes. Old Money, FMWUTTT, Money Power Glory, Cruel World and Shades Of Cool performances can be counted on one hand. And I didn't talk about radio-play but about radio performances.
And well, I don't think it's about the label. At least not everything. She herself canceled many events where we could have gotten something interesting to hear/see.

The Family Jewels is incredible. Electra Heart is kinda good. Froot is okay.

Love the album-- bummed that it leaked so early, but I'm sure we're all still going to support her. Buying it when it comes out for sure! Early favorites are "Happy" "I'm A Ruin" "Blue" "Solitaire" and "Savages"

But until then, I still dislike the album cover so I created something for myself to use, and I ended up making a .gif for it, so here it is for your viewing pleasure. Also included the album art/still version. Reblog it on Tumblr if you want!  / still image/album cover here

here's the thing with lana -- you can't expect there to always be meaning behind what she writes. not meaning that you can connect with personally, at least. everything she writes is personal and internal and so a lot of it might come off as useless or opaque at best. if you're a ~*~ true ~*~ fan though (whatever that means) you should be able to disregard the shitty recycled trope here and there or you can just connect it to a larger piece of the puzzle (the puzzle being her as an artist, as a character, as an actual human being). maybe the above lyrics don't say much in terms of broad all encompassing meta / psychosocial philosophy or whatever it is you're looking for, but they still communicate aspects of her true self (and her internal world), whether intentional or not. the lyrics you quoted still fall in line with the rest of her work and retain a certain consistency you'd expect from a true artist. you should appreciate that at the very least

i.e "get us while we're hot" --> while she's still "young and beautiful" and "shine(s) from words but not from beauty"
she's known to have an affinity for diamonds and the color blue and beaches and she writes about how she 'shines like lightning', etc. 'glimmering', 'bright blue ripples' all conjure up images of shiny, pretty, bluish things. she's obviously an extremely visual person so why not re-use some words that not only roll off the tongue but draw out images that she appreciates? its kind of tired at times but its still very lana

also, "watching me" in the swimming pool and "watching me" get undressed says a lot about her personality and her histrionic tendencies. you can go off on some tangent here about the male gaze and the paradoxical superficiality of those lines (which juxtapose the depth that's present in her other songs, etc). whatever

"elvis" and "marilyn" are obviously figures of classic americana. the line suggests that they've raised her and that they've also nurtured her aesthetic / artistic appreciations like surrogates while jesus (who may or may not actually exist) remains her 'bestest' friend (and maybe even her only one, during certain periods in her life). then she goes on to say "we don't need nobody, cause we got eachother" ... "or at least i pretend". that's kind of fucking sad. it's like she's perpetually lonesome and doesn't have anyone else but herself and her own imagination. which suggests (on a larger scale) that she loves to create (or at the very least, finds solace in) worlds of her own; worlds inside her head. recently we've started to wonder if any of the men or any of the experiences she's written about are even real, or if its all just pure fiction. and i didn't even connect those thoughts with that particular line until now. and it 100% justifies the james franco quote:

do you see what i mean? despite seeming innocuous and possibly even superficial, everything is still connected back to her internal self, somehow. and new music will always give you another look into her mind and might even forge a newfound connection with something she's already written in the past. there's always consistency and there's always truth (internal, though not always external). that's all that matters when it comes to art; staying true to your intuitions. so toss your haughty expectations in the trash and just appreciate her for being her (and relentlessly so)

the fact that we're even having this discussion and dissecting these ~meaningless~ lyrics actually attaches meaning to them, i think. so i hope you feel fulfilled lmao
