For real. Now that I’m old enough, I’m finally revisiting childhood and working through my own “karmic lineage” (lol) and breaking generational trauma, which makes this new album veryyy fitting for the times

So true, the way I’ve related to her more homely and domestic lyrics like “washing my hair, doing the laundry”. Growing up with Lana is so cool. I’m so glad she’s able to resonate with people across all ages, and this new record seems like it encapsulates lana and lizzy at their cores.

I’m 27.. remember being 16 when BTD dropped and feel like this was prime time to hear that record.. and the albums have aged so well along with me..
 
I don’t think if I was 13 now I’d really enjoy Lanas stuff? Feels so heavy in an authentic way.. I enjoy it now because I feel like it’s so relatable lol

I haven’t listened to A&W in almost 24 hours. Needed to give myself a break, but the lyrics are still in my head. I haven’t felt this way about a song in a long time. I know I’m in the minority when I say I enjoyed both BB and Chemtrails albums, but it floors me how this woman is so talented to keep producing straight up top notch quality work. I literally can’t think of any other artist where I like 95% of their songs and continue to feel connected to the music after all these years. She’s incredible.

the first half is very tori amos vibes (which i predicted ) and the second half is kinda nine inch nails kinda portishead, but honestly, its very lana. i can’t really compare it to anything else i’ve ever heard. its like a musical collage of so many different things and i just love it.

I LOVE the Twin Peaks comparison.  The song does feel very Lynchian, especially the transition to the second half

I really am getting Laura Palmer vibes from this song. Laura was always writing in her secret diary about her darkest and innermost thoughts, which is exactly the feeling this song and I think the album in general will be giving, matched beautifully with the album art of Lana looking like a girl from the past full of secrets of her own that will start to spill out as her restlessness gets the best of her.
 
The second part is so fascinating because it's like we rewind back to a place where the version of Lana that's singing doesn't see the darkness that we can see, it is all fun and games for her. She does wanna get high with Jimmy over and over, she does think it's funny when his mom calls, she does just wanna vibe without a thought beyond the repetition of an endless good time. But through the questions asked in the first half of the song and the menacing production that follows, we're able to see an outcome that she doesn't see yet. Even Laura Palmer had fun walking with fire until it was too late 

A&W should not have a music video imo. The song is too dark and raw with more than enough to unpack as is. Unless it was a masterpiece directed by David Lynch of course, but a White Dress treatment would just be wrong for this song

I know my fellow homosexuals are loving and feeling their oats because Lana is claiming her whore status. We love that but can we talk about the personal lyrics, critique on the rape culture? She is being so direct and is holding nothing back. I love that! 
 
I've always thought whether Lana was ever interested or not in feminism (we know she is a feminist) her music, her art has always had this STRONG feminist core i.e. A WOMAN DOING WHATEVER THE FUCK SHE WANTS. Like Sweet Caroline? Like beautiful a song about postnatal depression that MANY women go through but it's not talked about??? Who even does that?? She never needed a label because she embodies feminism. Always has.  A&W is so direct and she is leaving nothing to the imagination. I love how the chorus before the switch up happens there's an adlib that goes like "oh, okay" right after she says "American Whore" as if she's looking herself in the mirror and is being like "it's time to be a bad bitch". All the other times, it feels like a sad satire but eventually she found power in it and claims it. Then it turns into this psychedelic trap song LIKE DAMN, Mother is mothering yet again. 
 
She maybe soft but she is powerful! I meannn she's around after all these years! 

Like these Lana and Jack collabs keep getting better and better with age. We’ve gone from Venice Bitch and Mariners to White Dress and COTCC and now to A&W and whatever other masterpiece they have on this record.
 
Also the depth of the work is astounding, Lana’s lyrics are just something else here. As soon as she mentioned her mother, I knew it was gonna be THAT song. I’ll admit I was worried Lanaboards complaining about the piano in the beginning, but I think the outro gives it this fresh edge. Even though the whole song is just all around sharp and ready for the kill.
 
so excited for the rest of the album! It’s gonna be very experimental, personal, and perhaps her magnus opus

lana’s silence has made me not fully process the fact that we’re actually getting a whole new album  like 13-15 completely new songs at once in less than two months  and it hasn’t even been a year and a half since BB or 2 years since Chemtrails  we’re so well fed
