I really do think that a lot of online stans (which is actually not representative of a general, real opinion) do seem to critique art against the binary she described and I do think it leads to repetitive, "boring" discourse from pop music stans who simply don't like a song/artist and are being disingenuous when using certain social/political/moral concerns to justify their dislike of it. I think where she (and a lot of artists) are wrong are that social media (specifically Twitter) aren't actually indicative of the general public's actual feelings and are seeing to an actually microscopic % of their actual fans/consumers. I dont see this as some kind of grand statement against "wokeness" (whatever that means now) like some people are saying, but maybe that's just how I read it.

    While I agree with the premise, I think the reason people so quickly jump on these binary arguments is because music has become so boring that there’s nothing else to discuss.

    girl your privilege is showing again, it’s really great you can see a ‘functional medicine practitioner’ but millions of people simply don’t have the resources to just stop work and stressing about these types of things and ‘heal themselves.’ (edit: for clarification I don’t mean that she should work if she’s ill, everyone should be able to take paid time off if they’re sick)

     

    edit: I forgot to mention her saying she was ‘grateful’ for being ill too, this is some LA shit.

    As long as we all tolerate and respect each other's opinions, have the chance to respectfully portray our ideas, and don't force our own views on other members, what's the problem? Like you said, this whole stunt did exactly what he probably wanted in the first place: elicit and spark a reaction. Good strategy, Troye.

     

    Friendly reminder that we all come from different backgrounds, with different coming out (or not) life stories. Not everybody had it easy, some of us are not quite where we'd like to be yet.

     

    I might not agree with all of the things said here, but I have nothing but admiration for how brazen and brave y'all are.

     

    And leaving all the controversy agenda aside, it all comes to the music at the end of the day, anyway. The song is really good, and I hope is a fucking hit, if he plays his cards right, why wouldn't it be? It's catchy as hell. He desperately wants it, and it shows.

    Well first,  that’s not true and second, from my experience, there are many people who are forced into this culture because it is perceived as “the norm”, which is what I believe the issue of some people on the thread were. That through this video, Troye is further promoting an aspect of gay culture that’s not necessarily positive for some people. I’m not critiquing Troye, he can so whatever he wants, but that doesn’t change the fact that the video is a bit cringe (yes, just like rappers, yes just like Marina’s HTBAHB etc etc).

    On this mock up, the hemline seems accurate though. I suppose this new hoodie is similar to my cropped crewneck, except the hood. 

     

    I wear the cropped crewneck over dresses or tees of the same color, so the crop is hardly visible. No fan of this cropped style (ordered it as a normal crewneck, they changed it to cropped after my order.) Maybe this will work for you, too.
