i totally agree with this! i think what truly makes NFR special is the lyrics and how raw everything feels, the stripped back instrumenation of the album really let’s her voice and lyrical content shine. ultraviolence definitely has it’s sad moments and dark subject matter like pretty when you cry and sad girl but lana herself doesn’t necessarily act too upset that things are falling apart in the relationship, it seems that she’s almost in love with the idea of the brokenness. however throughout NFR she becomes aware of how fucked up everything is and how badly it’s affecting her which i think makes the music much more heartbreaking and relatable.

this is just such an... interesting place on the internet where it's like yeah welcome to this group of girls and gays tracing every move of some singer. Please don't mind the absolute meltdowns, bursts of gif spams in between day long post droughts and seasonly scat attacks that occur and also don't pay attention to any halsey enjoyers, jack antonoff stans and people who rebrand themselves as Margaret Thatcher

The great thing about LanaBoards is that it is NOT only about Lana, but about many other artists and whatnot as well. Chances are that without the people on this very website, I never would've started stanning Kim Petras, Banks, Allie X, Slayyyter and many others. i did listen to her latest release (Summertime). I did not listen to the buzz track off of an album that might not come out for another couple months that was released with no promo and no music video. I don't want another LFL/NFR situation where by the time the full album is released, I'm already tired of the pre-release singles. Based on people's comments on here, it doesn't sound like @Terrence Loves Me and I are missing much. It's not that complicated, really.

Once I was rly drunk in a bar and I heard that song playing and I recognised the guitar and I was like ??? omg are they playing Lizzy Grant in here?? But then I realised it was in fact not Lizzy Grant but instead the Pixies lol. The guitar on PMIAM definitely took inspiration from Where is my Mind, it's very familiar x

It's pretty obvious, that Lorde had a different perspective as a teenager, because she possibly lacked the experience. I bet, she'd cringe at herself for saying what she said then. If not, then she's a hypocrite, 'cause Melodrama was all about post-breakup and the loneliness and desperation it can bring. And let's be real, upbeat breakup songs don't help immediately. Mostly when it wasn't in your hands, that the relationship ended. Also because to actually heal there needs to be a time to grieve the loss and partying to thank u, next won't help in that instance.
It's such a strange, confusing and miserable place to be in. Songs like Dark Paradise and Without You may sound desperate and codependent, but capture the feelings at hand so well and actually help get over yourself into a steadier place. What isn't healthy, is wanting to keep on living in that state. Though that's, as previously said, not on Lana.
Obviously talking from the viewpoint of my experiences lol
In the end it's unhealthier to bottle that shit up and pretend everything is fine, which is kinda what this quote implies
