something tells me this album will be very nostalgic- and not just in a “typical” lana sense where it touches on 20th century 1920-1980s references, but im really hoping for some 90s-00s nostalgia with this record. but that might just be my own bias of feeling very nostalgic for my own childhood at the moment lol

Driving down Culver in the pouring rain
Palm trees that line Ballona Creek are swaying
Subdued and sumptuous, soft sand and salt sweet air
Could be an illusion to me, but I don't careMargaret Whiting's on the radio, time after time
I'm living for today and tomorrow, in the sublimeSalted margherita rims, carefree, baby
Sand up in between my toes, someday we'll be
Going to Colorado Springs, like next week? Maybe.
Don't care what I'm doing next, so call me crazy
I don't care, I don't care (I don't care, I don't care)
I'm having a fun time, I'm living my best life
(I don't care, I don't care, I don't care, I don't care)On the pacific, psychotropic art
Bringing back color to my guarded heart
Crystalline structures protecting it, so tender
I was once hurt by man, but healed by natureMargaret Whiting's on the radio, time after time
"Time After Time"
I'm living for today and tomorrow, in the sublime
In the sublimeSalted margherita rims, carefree, baby
Sand up in between my toes, someday we'll be
Going to Colorado Springs, like next week? Maybe
Don't care what I'm doing next, so call me crazy
I don't care, I don't care (I don't care, I don't care)
I'm having a fun time, I'm living my best life
(I don't give a fuck, I'm fresh out of fucks)You heard my baby's back in town now
You should come, come over
We'll be hanging around now
You should come, come overPark your car up on the side of the street
Bring a towel to our little retreat
Later on we'll get something to eat
Taco truck, not too far, it's my treatMargaret Whiting's on the radio, time after time
I'm living for today and tomorrow, in the sublime
Margaret Whiting's on the radio, time after time
I'm glad that you're here with me
I'm glad that you're mineIf you weren't mine, baby, if you weren't mine
If you weren't mine, I'd be jealous of your love
(I'm jealous of your love)
If you weren't mine, I'd be jealous of your love
(I'm jealous of your love)
If you weren't mine, I'd be jealous of your love
(I'm jealous of your love)are u sure this isn’t a leak cause its REALLY good!!! - as an aspiring writer myself this is fr so inspired and creative.

im begging that we stop dragging other artists down to try and lift lana up. she is friends with both of them and while yes they’ve taken inspo from her, it’s cause they like her music, not out of malice or bc they think “copying” her sound will make them money or help them chart.

also i think this is the most i’ve ever related to a lana song, and i fear it will be the most i’ve ever related to a lana album, as well.
-
the first half is very tori amos vibes (which i predicted ) and the second half is kinda nine inch nails kinda portishead, but honestly, its very lana. i can’t really compare it to anything else i’ve ever heard. its like a musical collage of so many different things and i just love it.

a&w joining venice bitch, ride, off to the races, the greatest, heroin, the blackest day, white dress, west coast, and shades of cool as one of her best songs

i feel like lana and jack are the perfect pair. NFR is my fav album from her and they produced some of her most groundbreaking songs ever together.

ever since reading the lyrics… im pretty heartbroken actually. but also, wow. this is one of her most relatable tracks ever. im so excited for the album

new gif for the era

a&w may actually be her most unique and interesting song she’s ever released. i don’t think i’ve ever heard anything quite like it. the production is so tight and yet so loose and unhinged. it’s so fresh and new yet so classic lana. the lyrics are so poignant and cutting. the jimmy part really hits it home with just her (possibly improvised?) vibing and its so perfect. this is truly the experience of being an american whore. like, YES IT IS. she really tapped into some things on this song i needed to hear her say, and im so glad its a real song. i have a strong feeling that this might be her most sonically and lyrically adventurous record to date. im so excited.

ok so now that some time has passed and i’ve given the song some repeated listens, this is seriously my favorite LDR song since the entirety of NFR!. i don’t like it more than Venice (or The Greatest) but i can totally see this making my top 10 or even top 5 LDR songs in the near future. she dropped it at the perfect time for me. god i love this woman, what the fuck
