  1. A&W to Judah to Candy Necklace is some of the most Lynchian work she's ever done. She channeled him so hard with this run. Blue Velvet indeed, the seediness of what's below a pristine surface. A young girl cartwheeling, the preacher preaching, and the Candy man himself. But the girl is in danger, the preacher is shouting, and the the Candy necklaces don't taste right.

I personally find it odd that she sampled songs that were released/recorded like 2-3 years ago? Not sure if that's laziness/artistic laziness, or the result of working with more or less the same team for four albums in a row, but the album is just very sample heavy.

My main complaint is that she completely botched the closing track and did the song a disservice. Like Venice Bitch on its own is a career highlight, but the remix just sounded cheap/corny to me. Taco Truck, even though it goes back to your comment about Lana heavily sampling in her own/past work on this record, started off amazing and could've been a remarkable song on its own, but the song has this mod podged feeling to it and not in a good way.

In hindsight, all these insiders saying the album sounded fresh and like nothing we had heard before, well that was kind of a half-truth, as you can clearly hear a lot of her past work (and especially the recent one) in these new songs.

The album is still good though.

I've been taking Taco Truck x VB as a reclamation of the song. She's taken it back from the NFR days (mostly Sean) and it's sexier now; better, hotter, and happier than she was then. It's me your little Venice bitch. But not YOURS.

Okay the thing is I didnt care for Paris Texas the first time listening to the album. But it slowly but surely definitelu grew on me & now its in my top 3 most favourite of the album . This record ages like fine wime the more you listen to it istg my top 3 is literally in constant rotation. I CAN'T CHOOSE WHAT'S THE BEST :krylie:

Too Many Trinity syndrome is the best possible case for an album, we fucking won. Paris, Texas-you lonely wistful ghost that you are I love you. Fingertips is a song I'll be sad I can't hear anymore when I die, it's that good. Peppers being the coolest surfer bitch on the block-just so many wins

are there going to be any more critic reviews? The album out for more than 2 weeks but it seems like Metacritics is still counting tasteless reviews from dumb journalists :smokes3:

I do find it so interesting to compare the score to someone like Caroline Polacheck, who's last album was Godly, but the critics seem so much more receptive to the fact that Caroline herself is a genius than bestowing that on lana. They have a built in misunderstanding no matter how much she says otherwise that Lana, even with the recent praise, still has some sort of machine behind her, like it's not enough for them. Idk what more she can give them to make them happy, so fuck em.

It’s now my duty to make it a top streamed song. Amen.

I said this a couple days ago and THE next day the streaming numbers were given and Fingertips was listened to like 100 grand less times. Like wtf is that and why did no one consider My feelings! Stream gurl, we got this.

It's almost funny how it's my favorite but I can't even listen to Kintsugi cus it is currently too sad (dealing with some family stuff) I could listen to Fingertips all day. It's the start of the back half of the album for me and it soars from there.

Fingertips is the jewel of the album. Those strings mixed with her most revealing, and best, lyrics makes that song 3 minutes long. The fact that it's the lowest streamed song....it's the lack of taste from the masses, let me keep this frickin gem for myself then.

I think Kintsugi is a much better contender for SOTY compared to A&W.

    A&W- best alternative performance ?

Kintsugi would make half the voters jump out a window from sadness, that song is 6 minutes of pure depression. Title Track, A&W or CN or Paris, Texas all have better chances ( maybe not PT cus it's technically a sample?) I dunno I don't know the rules and I'm not sure Lana cares anymore.

  8. Fingertips' growth to me on this album is astounding, it now fights with Paris, Texas for the number one spot. It's lyrics are so devastating, but also some of her best ever. The Aaron Greene run has quickly become one of my most treasured by her, it's achingly beautiful-and I don't mean that as some normal adjective-that shit truly hurts me, a kind of echoed pang of sadness, I...what a massive song. That's not the right word-shockingly haunting is better. Damn

y'all hyped the hell out of gpsotsomfwhdsf in the pre-release and now there's like 3 ppl talking abt that song :derpna3:

Ok this is tea. I love the song, it's a carefree hippie call to the ancestors and she clicked with me after only a couple listens-but the melody wasn't what I was expecting (idk what I was expecting) but yeah everyone said this ones top 3 and no, it is not.

    It's dry dry

    Let's get spicy then!

Two things-there are ALOT of times where Kintsugi is the ultimate skip. Its fucking SAD. It's the saddest song she's ever done. Her lower register, that we've known so long, so reflective yet plain, cruelly plain, about how it feels when someone is slipping/has passed away. It's a personal hell that you can't help but sob. The "Daddy I miss them" portion is just evil ( and Yes Fingertips has shockingly tragic lyrics but they're so specific that it's clearly ONLY about her life, and the beautiful arrangement and her high notes make that song sing much more to me than Kintsugi)

    2. The "Wipeout" section of Peppers is just as epic as the A&W transition and is easily, Easily the most fun I've ever had with a Lana song. That shits so fucking groovy baby! Ugh the second half of Peppers is just pure joy and fun in the sun and it will be murdered by the replay button this summer.

*edit* none of these takes are that hot but let's hear the takes sistrens, we've been in post release for over 2 weeks!

  11. I think this is an album written for herself and those who are truly invested in her story, like us, and it just so happens that the bops are undeniable and she's in a bigger light than she ever really has been before so all the casuals are giving a listen or two. We should be shocked THIS album is doing this well. A&W is an unmatched all timer from her, but the majority of this album has no business being as streamed as it is, especially Paris, Texas growing as an organic hit. The masses truly found some taste this year but we're just lucky we stan an artist who is still pushing herself and absolutely has more to give 9/10 albums in.

this will definitely be a standalone single

but it’s our job to make sure it becomes the lead single for the unreleased album!

.....this is the only way I support its release. We know this sistren front to back, left to right and topsy-turvy, we BEEN KNEW this song lolol. Like...I dunno yall it never clicked for me. Is there a specific version everyone loses it to? There's been so many over the years and I don't exactly have it bookmarked on Youtube.

uhm... i just found a tiktok with the caption of "when you're pearl monologue memorized crazy and not watch you on a ring camera crazy". From early january. Is this a coincidence? When did we first get to know the 'pearl watch me on ring etc.' alt title?

I mean they're referring to Pearl the movie and Mia Goth's 8 minute monologue at the end. So I think this is merely a coincidence. Pearl wasn't out when Lana was naming the album.

I always struggle with rankings lol so I tend to just divide them by moods or whatever I feel like listening to at the time

But Fishtail is the one that I've replaying the most this past week (along with Peppers and Taco Truck x VB) and it always gets stuck in my head so its at the top for a reason :true:

Those last 3 really are one hell of a run, just letting loose and ugh it's SO good. The Wipeout section of Peppers should be publicly applauded. The Bop Trio

    She's a princess, she's divisive :oopna:

Fishtail will always be at the top of my list though :creepna3:

Live your objective truth, I stand behind it. I still can't rank yet, it's impossible still on what is this, day 5? Like fishtail and Taco and Paris and Aw and LtLI and Peppers are all fighting for top 3, 2, 1 and then Grants and Fingertips have suddenly showed up to jump in the fight, and then Candy Necklace is just observing from the sidelines, it's a whole war in my rankings right now, but I KNOW Fishtail is 1, or 2, or 3. But probably 1. It's a problem.
