  1. Madonna did that before the internet and artists being cancelled daily, and got a tonne of grief for it. I can't even imagine the shit storm if Lana did it now.
  2. I don't think it's bitterness on my part (although I am bitter ...) that makes me think that not only should metacritic not count the Sputnik review of Chemtrails, but that the site overall should be disqualified in future from being considered a notable review site. Honestly, that review is bilge.
  3. Looking through twitter, if you want to know where 'rumours' come from, it's just things people in this thread have said "I want ..."
  4. Are there any other veterans of the board here who were here when Chemtrails Over The Country Club was released?
  5. This thread is growing faster than I can read it, but I really feel like we're all Linus, and Lana's the Great Pumpkin.
  6. I love the video, just as an aesthetic experience. It doesn't hurt that the song is probably my top track on the new album.
  7. I haven't seen anyone talk about the central setting of this song, and how there's never been a 'Men in Music Business' conference. The very idea of it is absurd, because men are considered the default in this sort of thing, and it's only minorities/less recognised groups that the industry occasionally remembers. What there have been, of course, are numerous 'Women In Music' conferences, which pretend to be about showing off, for that one day, the talents of women performers, but are actually just another chance to ogle them. So it's pretty funny how she flips it around from what it probably was - a patronising event at which the music executives were, I'd imagine, made up almost exclusively of men, so that it reflects what it must have felt like to nineteen-year-old Lizzy. A circus where she was the one who was looked at, by people who forgot or didn't care that she was looking at them at the same time. She did the same with flipping 'Music to Watch Girls By', too.
  8. I'm assuming this is some sort of mistake, as even the Youtube streams are ~ 200 K, and many more people listen via spotify than Youtube (I'd imagine).
  9. Every album since Paradise has had fans saying it's her farewell.
  10. Nice gratuitous mention of the album at the bottom of a completely unrelated story on the Australian national broadcaster's website:
  11. There's a screengrab of the NME 5 star review of the album going around, but you should go to the author's twitter and give her some love.
  12. Gotcha. He really is the epitome of the old joke "why do people hate him as soon as they see his face? It's to save time."
  13. Hey - no need to shame him for his looks when you have literally everything he's ever written as a testament to his shitkicker status.
  14. You know what - fuck the Guardian. Remember that last time they let his review stand as their Metacritic review, and then gave it album of the year
  15. It's a monster, and manages to both reference the singing on, and be an answer song to those 'I wanna be a star' songs on AKA.
  16. Sorry for spamming this thread, but I'm excited and bored, and I just noticed, for any hipsters out there, this album fits nicely on one side of a D90 cassette!
  17. Any reviews of this record that do the usual "here's another typical LDR record" (like so many reviews of any of her records dating back to Ultraviolence have said) prove yet again that you don't need ears to be a music critic.
