This is lovely, except the weird mistakes in the Jonathan Wilson line (his name and referring to Roger Waters as 'Pink Floyd', which is sort of a big deal if you know the history of the band), as well as the 'Yeah, I kinda knew you' vibe, is either an in joke, or a big 'Fuck You'.

Out of the whole L4L affair so far, Coachella is the song that keeps repeating in my mind.

I hope so The video of that Amoeba show (along with the iTunes show), is one of the big reasons why I'm as big a fan of her as I am.

When I started buying music, cassettes and vinyl albums cost pretty much the same, and while adults bought cassettes because they could be played in a car, I was just a kid, so the reason I would choose the cassette was because I could smuggle it into my home without my parents discovering I'd 'wasted money' on some record that they couldn't see any value in. So I have a warm place in my heart for cassettes, and their little 'tone burst' at the beginning, and the occasional feeling of sea sickness as the tape stretched and sped up and slowed down slightly. And I still have boxes full of these damn things - some of which have never been released in any other form and that I haven't ever found even uploaded to Youtube, and which I hope to digitise one day. But I will always be curious what it is about them that people who have grown up with easily downloadable music - where there's no need to 'hide' music from your parents in physical form - would want to own, aside from their novelty.]

This is so weird - I was just seeking out this thread to ask this exact question! The reason being, the Elvis estate doesn't have the right to stop her recording a cover (and if they did have the right, I'm sure they would have had a problem with the Dead Kennedys and a thousand other punk bands trashing his songs, before they stopped Lana doing it).

The only thing that music critics will give her more shit for than covering 'Heroin', is for having an original called 'Heroin'. (And don't take anything from the running time being shorter - most covers of the Velvet Underground song run for about 5 or 6 minutes).

This is the best call ever. And I'm sad that only about three people will appreciate how great his would be.

The last two minutes of it are just mostly feedback, and most covers of it aren't much longer than 5 minutes.
