I remember NME’s Chemtrails review was written so poorly. That’s when I knew they weren’t credible lmfao. But I feel like Pitchfork is pretty much saying it’s “meh” without actually saying it. Seems like that’s the general consensus with the song. It’s cute... but nothing more.

I have no idea where Halsey gets her ego from because 1) Manic deserved the score it got and 2) she hasn't released a single album or song that has significantly impacted pop culture in any way. It also doesn't help that she's insufferable and cringey. But I feel like Sky just feels the pressure of following up an album like her debut. Downhill Lullaby was... bad. And the reception to it probably discouraged her from releasing whatever album she had planned.

She does look slightly different but it could just be weight loss or the angle of the photo.

It’s weird because everything I wanted was such a great follow up to her debut. Even my future was good but since that song it’s been downhill. Therefore I Am was a blatant attempt to replicate bad guy’s success and I think it definitely underperformed (hence why they don’t have more “hits” to release pre album). But honestly I can’t see this album flopping whatsoever. I predict 300-400k but it’ll be frontloaded and it wont have the longevity her debut had unless the album tracks are great. And even if this album underperforms she has such a huge team backing her that they’ll know what to do for the next album. I also think it’s too early for her to be taking this mature route to songwriting and production. These are the years for her to release upbeat music and tour it. I feel like she needs to discover herself more as an artist outside of Finneas’ influence.

How would he know what her team advises her to do... I thought he just had access to a database like every other leaker. Anyways. I guess that's good advice image wise but I think dropping an album with zero interaction with her fanbase will result in terrible sales. But I doubt she cares about sales anymore judging by the Chemtrails rollout.

Unpopular Lorde opinion but does anyone else hate the production on Melodrama? It's way too overproduced imo and didn't age very well. I hope she does something a little more subtle for this album.
