Uh well A logical person getting the accusation of coming from money is either gonna admit to it (but also explain that it's irrelevant to their art and doesn't negate their hard work) OR just not talk about it at all. Because you're right that she doesn't need to. But lana CHOOSES to address it and is dishonest about it

i was about to post something like this here. I had a weird phase during the first half of 2020 where i was obsessed with her old bubblegum pop music but now when i listen to them i just think "wow.. no wonder her career wasn't taking off..". The lyrics of so many of them just feel thrown together. Like she has a bunch of lines thought up of, and when it comes time to make a song she just cuts and pastes a bunch of them. don't follow a comprehensive story at all

4 hours ago, AngelHeadedHipster said:Remember how Paris Hilton said she suffered a lot of abuse at her boarding school. She made a documentary about it too. Rich kids are sent to these type of schools to rectify their behavioural issues. But some schools have been abusing these kids in horrifying ways upon which Paris Hilton has now started to shed light as she doesn't want anyone to undergo what she has gone through.
I get the feeling even Lana has undergone the same at her boarding school. Regarding her grudge against her mother. I think she only forced her to go to the boarding school like Paris Hilton's mother. Paris Hilton was sent as she was starting to act out and was a rebellious teen. The upper class society are supposed to behave all prim and proper. Paris Hilton's family had even threatened to disown her. That is why Paris created this "dumb blonde" persona and built an empire around it, so she wouldn't ever have to depend on her family's wealth in the event they actually disowned her. This is what Lana has tried to convey about her difficult upbringing. Money is not everything. The physical and emotional traumas she must have suffered can never be healed and no amount of money in the world can bring peace to a soul that has been traumatized beyond belief. This is why Lana created her own separate world of Art in which she lives so as to escape the demons of her real life.
See James Franco comment about her :
Lana lives in her art, and when she comes down to earth for interviews, it gets messy, because she isn’t made for this earth. She is made to live in the world she creates. She is one who has been so disappointed by life, she had to create her own world. Just let her live in it.
Do not judge a person based on external wealth alone. Because you never know the price they had to pay to be worthy of that wealth.I don't doubt for a second that she had problems and traumas growing up and I never will. Saying someone needs to be at least aware of their privilege isn't that same as saying they had an absolutely perfect life. She would have my complete respect if she responded to criticism like "Yes i did have a very lucky upbringing but i struggled with mental illness my entire life" or "Yes i did come from wealth but I chose to be independant for my music career". But she won't. And she never will, because she seems incapable of grasping that despite whatever internal struggles she had she was extremely lucky and a lot better off than millions of Americans. When you say "growing up I had nothing" the common sense interpretation is that means something like you didn't even have food on the table, not that you were a child of capitalist venturers raised with a private school education but also had emotional problems. And that's her tone-deafness.
She's hellbent on proving to everyone that shes the supreme victim of the circumstance.
I need to stop stressing about lana tbh but i just needed to get that out

i was about to say that lol. how are you gonna go on the internet and morally condemn people for morally condemning people on the internet

i think lana hearing the sentence "you're privileged" sounds something like "you're a fraud, you were handed everything you never worked a single day in your life. bitch" in her head
and her hearing "you're ignorant about racial issues" sounds like "you're literally hitler. i bet you commit hate crimes for fun"
-
Of course she's still bringing up how totally not-rich she was. still hung up on the criticism she was getting like 7 years ago when it has nothing to do with the issue at hand
-
is it just me or is she kind of talking like trisha paytas. i can't put my finger on exactly why but it just feels like it
-
No she did not eat her cat she's literally a vegan LMAO
i just had to say
i don't really care what she does for religious purposes cause it's not like she killed the cat or hurt it while it was alive (presumably)

1 minute ago, Amadeus said:i mean.. the issue is she doesn't even seem to be able to acknowledge that she can be wrong, make mistakes, even just be bad at phrasing things or go on about something the wrong way at the moment so..
she interprets every criticism as a personal attack and its gonna be the death of her

This is exactly what i mean when i say she's in a really insecure place and is constantly in a defensive mindset. "You're trying to paint one of the only genuine artists as otherwise" when literally no one said anything at all about her genuinety in all of this
Anyways. If she has the time and energy to do all this, why can't she respond to actual, well thought out think pieces critisizing her takes? There's no shortage of articles that aren't clickbaity and actually have legitimate non-reactive critcisms of her

I think we do way too much of talking about her intentions. There's a lot of ignorance, plain dumbassery, and even evil in the world that are done with good intentions. It doesn't make a difference at the end of the day
And thats not me saying she's evil. nothing she's going on about really has that much consequence in the real world. but when a grown adult is speaking for themselves they're showing who they are as a person. if you're still pulling your hair out trying to defend her and explain what she really meant i think you need to just move on

She said that Jack didn't touch the track and it was produced with Knowles

fyi the jokes about her mental health really aren't funny. More people than you expect have been in psychiatric facilities and medications and there's nothing wrong with that. But anyways. I'm really starting to think she actually was in an institution because it's a motif that she's been portraying a lot lately (the interview magazine thing, behind the iron gates of the institution). The idea of being at a country club reflects the idea a little bit as well (being contained in a privileged little bubble - away from regular society)

i loved the composition of this video. i had been wanting to do this style of interview for a while. i-D does this sort of thing a lot. But yeah, looking back at it ....
-
even annie is acknowledging how weird that was. the way she's like "mm.. mhmm yeah.. mhm" the whole interview and then "yeah. lana we've got to go now bye". cringe
the one thing i was confident i could be excited for this rollout was new interviews. First we had that one with jack antonoff of the two artists sucking each others ego off and now this
Like I said in the other thread i don't want to come off a wannabe therapist but i think this is just someone whos in a really insecure place. the way she's stumbling through topics and how totally not-racist she is .... so bizarre

5 minutes ago, Turtledove said:I feel like the wolf symbolism also represents being a woman. Its interesting cause she has a younger girl in the MV and it shows how Lana, and her friends are older and have become dangerous/maybe know what the dangers are in their world. While the girl is still in her childhood. Like, when youre older you know a lot more about the darker aspects of life. Theres a big contrast to them at the swimming pool to them in the woods.
Theres a book called Women who run with wolves, it's really popular (especially among "witchy" girls lol).

No ones gonna see this cause the threads moving so fast but im obsessed with how it slows out at the end into jazz!
Even though over all the message is confusing and i have my issues with lana trying to be political, gotta admit the imagery is v interesting and fun

Not HER of all people talking about "people who are being a 'jerk' and don't know it -- what do we do about it?"

I was planning on waiting until I finished but I thought i'd post here to distract myself from the mess that's going on right now
I started reading Think and Grow rich by Napoleon Hill. A lot of people are interested in it on LB since Lana has cited it more than once. I was pleasantly shocked to find it focusing on the spiritual aspect of success. Since i've already read The Secret by Rhonda Bryne, none of this is new information. But it's full of a lot of important advice to always keep in mind and get you motivated
